I can see them adding the Reach mythic ranks sometime down the road, if enough people engage with the system. “Hero” was earlier on in the mythic ranks in Reach. It would be cool to see the “Nova”, “Inheritor”, etc. ranks later on!

There should 100% be a better reward for completing each tier of progression (bronze, silver, gold etc) like an armor piece, coatings or weapon models now that those exist. The Hero reward should be a special armor effect or something, I think that would be fitting

Basically I could've reached Onix if we had a progression system day one. 😒

I’ve got 3 ideas for a reward for getting hero rank 1: a really cool armor effect 2: some type of armor coating 3: maybe a signature armor core? Something similar to the original helioskrill or the haunted Helmet Just not a emblem please

My personal opinion on what the progression system rewards should be. For Reaching Gold I’d say something like a unique coating or weapon coating. For Reaching Diamond Haunted Helmet. It’s a helmet we’ve already seen before and some have already unlocked so I think it’s fitting that it’d be a mid point unlock in the progression system For Reaching Onyx Rank again, I’d probably say a unique coating or/and weapon coating that would be worth the grind For Reaching Hero Rank I think nothing would be more fitting than getting Master Chief’s Halo Infinite Armor.

Right. So sit and wait for power weapons to spawn as your entire team gets dismantled, repeatedly. Than finally when the power weapons spawn (mainly shock rifle or sniper rifle in your case to be exact) finally come out and do something. Option B. Sit and wait until the wasp respawns because of how insanely overpowered it is, fly around in safety killing enemies in their spawn (again, in your case to be exact.) At the end of the game you get xp for doing these things and therefore you rank up.

Man I hope to see a future Season that brings more to Infinite than just 1 Arena and 1 BTB map. I would love to see a december Season with 2 snow maps for Arena, a snow map for BTB and a Christmas event themed map.

Thank god it’s not as bad as Halo 5’s grind.

Hey Nick! Great video, I was waiting for someone to breakdown the numbers! Ive been playing a moderate to insane amount since season 1. At the start of season 4: I have almost exactly 2000hrs played time on halo infinite. 95% of that time is in BTB, I average 30-50kills per game(unless i match against you😭). I have 3400 matchmaking lifetime matches. If I were to eyeball how long it would take me Based on my rate, it would take about a year and half to be above onyx.

Can’t wait to grind this when I get back from vacation. It’s just a number and a symbol, but for me it’s a form of progression I can grind through.

Off topic on the ranking system, that kill with the Banshee on the ghost in the first minute was insane

Managed to make it to silver within the first 24 hours. LOVE NUMBER GO UP functions. Lone Wolves is definitely the easiest mode to rank up in.

I think that the reward for Hero will be the MARK VII [H] Headhunter helmet that was revealed in the API

I'd really like a special coating, or a set of armor for reaching Hero! But I have to be honest, I'd LOVE to get the Mantle nameplate like in Halo 5!

Im glad to see it’s not as ridiculous as H5’s SR152, but I’m also concerned that it does seem completely doable within the span of a single season. Say we grind it out and reach max rank before S5 and now we’re back to having nothing to play for. I’m not a CoD player so I’m not sure if this is what I think it is but they need to have some sort of prestige system for the career ranks. Reach max rank and then you can choose to start over while also retaining some sort of unique indicator that you’ve already reached max rank X number of times.

Thanks for the clarity, I’ve got absolutely no chance of reaching Hero. With my lack of skill ( and having a wife/kids/job and all the other stuff that sucks) it would take me around 9500 games, I’ve been playing since the game came out and only managed 1500😢

It'd be more accurate to say it'd take roughly 9320 games, not 4660. 20 kills per match is pretty out there to use as an average, given that most matches aren't BTB or similarly high kills-per-match playlists. 17-25 is usually where the top player sits on the leaderboard in a match, so it'd be more accurate to use 10 kills/1000xp per match as an average, doubling the number of games needed on average.

Wish there was a PVE mode I could grind to get this. Just to have fun and relax to.

Hero should get you an exclusive armor set, emblem, and coatings, maybe armor effects as well.

Look at all those Ranks. Now imagine all the armor in the game. NOW COMBINE HITTING A RANK AND UNLOCKING THAT ARMOR. That's what this should have been. Just playing the game and unlocking stuff. Geez a whole year and a half to get numbers go up and we will probably get a good ole red and black coating for reaching Hero watch.

As a halo player of 15 years and a halo infinite player since October of 2021 (bot betas) and one who plays almost every day I see this as an absolute win

This was a real experience I had from the xp progression system during a match. “hahaha you’re recruit, get good bro” “What rank are you in ranked?” “I don’t play ranked bro, don’t need too” “Oh ok… cool” Guy was silver something, went 4 for 12 in slayer. So yeah…

I wish certain tiers gave you armor pieces

My XP per game is very hit or miss. Sometimes I'll get 6 kills and 13 deaths, and sometimes I'll drop 30 kills. Hopefully this new incentive to play good, will make me play at a more consistently good rate.

My only real complaint is why horizontal progression vs vertical? When I think of general I think big dick energy. So to go from bronze general to silver private, that feels shitty. I would have rather grinded bronze private, silver private, etc so that at the end it’s general, general, general

I’m quested with reaching max rank in MCC and Infinite I achieved H5 max rank and it took me over a year especially with all the constant games and mythic firefight it was a grind

its so funny that the halfway point is onyx general, literally the last rank before hero, so you do the whole grind from bronze cadet to onyx general just to find out you're only halfway there and need to do the same grind again

You should get a br camo per rank up, bronze camo, silver camo, gold so on so forth. That would be sick

Og master chief armor, customizable from all halo campaign sets. If they don't have that as the unlock that is a massive drop of the ball.

I really think they should update the appearance of the silver and platinum cause they look very identical. Like you can’t really tell unless you really look at it.

Alright, now add long queue times for anyone outside the US (like Australia for example) it essentially doubles that amount of time. And that's assuming you can perform well on high ping. So still not as bad as other games, but feels rough to play from Australia

Its unlikely to happen but it would be sick if they gave us master chiefs full armor set from infinite. Maybe even an AI of cortana/the weapon, or just an AI of Chief himself! This is the only halo game to my knowledge where you can't properly make yourself look like how John does in the campaign so some cosmetics to let us achieve that look or something just as cool would be worth the grind imo

I'd personally make it Achilles from H5 as the final reward OR a brand new original highly coveted armor

Here’s what you should do to maximize the amount of xp. Rumble pit or doubles. Anything that you can get kills in without necessarily competing for kills objectives you will get 2000xp easy. Also 40 games a day which is just a few hours will also maximize the amount of xp you get

It wouldn’t be the worse… if it were there since the launch. But here were are way past launch getting what should’ve been a core feature

There really need to be rewards for reaching general in each tier, already we get so little to show for achievements like LASO or skill-based medals other than the ranked emblems. So much opportunity just to be drip fed content...

Watch the hero rank reward be an emblem and not like a cool helmet or coating. Also I thought people were supposed to get a boost in rank if they had already have a bunch of games played, like I had 1600 games played(which isn’t a whole lot) but still I’m curious what happened with that statement.

I think you should of used 1000 instead. I think that is more of the average amount of points most people would get per game. So that's 9320 games or 93193.51. Also if score is what exp is based on, stuff like capturing the flag and getting strongholds should also give exp since that gives points right?

A reckon a good reward for hero rank would be campaign DLC

If you’re having a hard time getting exp or if you’re new then go play some bot bootcamp, almost guaranteed win and you get over 1,000 exp if you get 50% or more of the kills in your team.
