Thank you for sharing. My husband was on clozapine for 25 years. He developed acute leukemia (mostly likely from the clozapine) and had to go off cold turkey 3 months ago since he chose to forego the brutal treatment. He was told he had weeks to live. He is still in withdrawal from clozapine. His provider didn't tell him what hell he would go through, but he had no choice. Once he got through the worst of it, he has a clarity of thought he hasn't had in years. He has lots of energy--of course he isn't sleeping more than an hour or two a night, and so far, no leukemia symptoms. I don't think this drug should be prescribed for anyone.

Clozapine blocks the Histamine H1 receptors, making it an "anti-histamine". Anti-psychotics were originally developed as anti-histamines in the 1940's and 1950's.

Nightmare/awake. I call them double dreams. I have been taking Prazosin before I go to bed it has nearly diminished my nightmares that seem to be happening in reality where it's just a dream.

I have C-PTSD and extremely traumatic experiences, but I have to say that withdrawing from Clozapine is one of the most traumatic. It truly was living hell and I don't wish it upon anybody. I've finally recovered I think, I was on Clozapine for eight years. I was certain I wouldn't recover and I felt completely like I was dead but still living.

Thank you for sharing your story about clozapine. My 74yo mother was taking clozapine and I saw à major improvement and then, the side effect was too much for her so and she ask her psy to stop and go back to her past treatment. Didn't work at all. It was à night are so she had to go back on clozapine. Her side effect is huge but at least she dont have paranoïa or hallucination anymore. Because of her âge, she cant really describe me how she really feel but with your vidéo, I now understand it better so thank you for your explanation. Schizophrénia is such a huge pain for the person having it and the love one who will do anything to make them feel safe. Peace my friend

Thanks for sharing. My sister has come off Clozapine cold turkey and is going through severe itching and having thoughts and seeing faces and cannot sleep and is having loads of nightmares. Can I ask, how long did your withdrawal symptoms last - or did you end up going back on Clozapine because the withdrawal never ended ??

I wish my son would not try to stop his clozapine. At first he seems a bit more with it but soon the situation becomes really, really bad. They tried Haldol because he did not want the clozapine any more and his behavior went from bad to much, much worse and I had a very hard time getting them to put him back on the clozapine which is the only antipsychotic that stabilizes him.

So how are you now, have you stopped all medication for psychosis ?
