Whoever initiates the divorce is free to go but not without taking the biggest financial hit including full parental rights to the kids. I kind of agree with Ramsey: One doesn't want to tell the girl "Let's do a prenup and if you bail on me during the marriage I get 75-90%". But if I say "This is to protect us from each other's in-laws initiating and pressuring us they won't do it. But understand that in 2022 the average man has to compete against his wife's coworkers (bosses included), instagram, snapchat, whatsapp, Facebook secret messages, hinge, bumble, and tinder. Without a shadow of doubt JBP does not provide a realistic assessment of the risks of marriage in the West. Probably, because he's married and aware that of the impact of his words could have within his own marriage. It is at this point that he resorts to shaming tactics on single men to be seen as he cares about marriage. Wouldn't it be better to treat the value of marriage by enunciating the caveats for men and women without assuming a rational female accountability that can't be perceived in that 80% of divorces initiated by women?

EDIT: Personally I would love to watch Rich and Dr Peterson discuss modern women and the coupling realities. I mean, Dr Peterson isn't wrong about what he's saying, in the priciple of it. The only thing that I consistently dislike about his position on things is from his position as a man who got married to a different generation of women, and is speaking from the point of view of a man - who has his own success - about how men not in his position should behave. The difference is, the men of today who are trying to find their unicorn, have no choice but to spin plates because the modern women have made that the norm. Men have always had to chase excellence, and it is women who have attempted, either through parentage or relationship manipulation, to turn men into 'simps' and 'betas'. Men all have it within themselves to be 'alpha', but society is driven by women socially, and so lawfully and socially women retain the position of protected sex, with little to no repercussions, men are encouraged not to hone their innate behaviour; men get a bad deal, generally, with modern women in marriage and long term relationships. What men seek in women has not changed, at all, it is women who have changed due to the misguided ideals of feminism (as in third wave feminism onward), and need to change back to restore normality, otherwise, Peterson will continue to be wrong about modern coupling.

You should watch his video on polyamory if you type it in it’s like 5 minutes someone posted it. He made some good points on why that’s not good. As someone who has children and isn’t married I can tell you I agree with doctor Peterson on several things. Now you guys are right in the modern age divorce is dreadful & if you watch that he’s not saying marriage is for everyone it’s a difficult issue. But as a society marriage is the best thing we have and it is the most stable for children. I do believe that and it’s not a utopian answer but it is the best answer so I understand burning desire can’t be negotiated for sure. But such is life pick your suffering.

Father is a natural alpha boomer who is oblivious to all of this because he never had to be conscious of it and times were different when he got married to my mom 30yrs ago (he was her first, but she was not his first as he had plenty of experience with women at a young age). My mom, surprisingly, is much more aware to how dating has drastically changed and is somewhat redpill aware even listening to Kevin Samuels when he was alive (she’s definitely the most based woman I know). So Rich, your views are more in alignment with current times. I give no credence to someone's opinion that has never experienced the situation in question, even if they have an academic background. Sorry Jordan, I am not biting. He said in one video that the purpose of a man's life is obligation and even made it sound to me like your life was not a priority.

JP's comments only apply to the original classical feminine woman - not to the majority of the current selection. The assumption is that all options for your wife is going to be a conscientious, agreeable, hardworking woman who who enter into and respect your frame. Yeah, NO. Not happening in this world. Still love both you guys

As with many issues, there are alway many sides, many variables to consider. The point of Marriage is really for the benefit of children, that's it. It's so children can grow up in a stable home with two parents which obviously is the best situation for them. But of course there are other aspects to it. Women are obsessed with getting married: is it because they are so glad to be in a stable relationship with the man they love; no, because that situation doesn't necessarily require marriage. They are obsessed because it's a guaranteed income, so no matter what happens, if the relationship goes south, they still have access to the man's income and assets. The other unspoken very politically incorrect aspect of marriage I've noticed over the years, is that it's very common that once women get married, they let themselves go physically. I used to be puzzled by these land whales in Walmart wheeling around a toddler in their shopping carts. How? Who stuck their John Thomas in them to knock them up (I'm using that euphemism because U tube sends me warnings if you use naughty words) Then it dawned on me, they didn't always look like that. At one time they were actually quite attractive. Once they got their baby they no longer cared. They let themselves go, and the marriage contract guarantees them income, no matter how repulsive they become.

JP's risk mitigation is to be extremely careful in who you choose to marry. That is risk mitigation in LIFE. A bad partner can ruin either a husband or a wife. He does speak about the importance of getting that part right. Maybe not specifically in the clip but as a true JP fan and having read his books, he absolutely makes it clear that your choice in a partner has everything to do with the quality of life you will have.

What JP doesn't understand is that he is coming from a place with his own experience from women mainly in HIS GENERATION. Not todays modern women and how different they are and how much they have fallen from grace in todays society. 50-60 years ago society was centered around the family unit and legacy. Not anymore.....

Sorry, when the quality of women is so low and the marriage laws are so draconian I can understand why so many men don’t want to get married. Jordan also tells men to go on 25 Tinder dates so they learn how to relate to women. That is ignorant and damned naive.

Attacking tangentially is a flattering way to ride coattails. TBH, I’d only follow advice that could be universally beneficial. The problem with alpha/pill advice is that if men universally applied it, society would collapse due to population ending. While Jordan’s advice may be based on optimistic assumptions, at least it leads to a sustainable outcome.

I am following along.. I love you rich, But Don’t debate the master I’ve seen others try and they fail miserably. Doesn’t mean you’re wrong. I love Jordan Peterson He has helped me and is definitely the mind of our time. I know what you mean about him when it comes to females and marriage etc. I truly believe he is genuinely helping folks out here, and that’s part of the issue: He’s not gonna hold women accountable, they already hate him , so he’s not gonna make it that much worse. It’s simply not a good business decision for him to make women angrier than he already has by helping young men out. I think Jordan sometimes comes from a place of the “in a perfect world scenario” Love your content as always How about a conversation with Jordan instead of a debate.

I'm a woman and I absolutely love JP. I think he and Rich have a lot of great advice for men. My only point of contention is this advice of Rich's to never agree to marriage. If you as a man have found love and that woman is a good woman, a divorce will not ruin you. I divorced and I did not take anything that was his. I'm engaged now and should this relationship end it would be the same. And in both cases they both have better income and assets such as pensions, annuities and property.

@@carljohnson6264 Hey Carl. Of course they can. But I'm here to tell you that a lot of high quality women want marriage. Why? I guess because of the romantic side of it. I'm not sure because for myself, it's not about financial stability, maybe it's fair to call it relationship stability. The important part is to marry the right person that has a good heart and their own money so if you do split, they have pride and ethics and don't need to try to take from you or not be fair to you. There's a lot of traah out there so be careful who you fall for!

Interesting video; however, I think this is a straw man argument here. You reiterate Peterson saying, "When you're sacrificing marriage..." but that is NOT what he states. He asks, "What are you sacrificing to get married...?" and then proceeds to list nihilism, promiscuity and host of other vices. You go on to say, "There's a lot of disparaging words that he's using to describe men that don't get married." However, that is also not what he is saying. Men who choose to opt out of marriage do not have to, by default, engage in the nihilism, juvenilism, promiscuity, etc. that he lists. But, there are those who prefer to opt out of marriage so that they CAN engage in those practices. If the manosphere is going to be critical of the promiscuity of western women, and rightly so, then the same critique should fall squarely on the shoulders of men who do the same. If not, nihilism is most certainly in view.
