this video should be highlighted in the channel, one of the bests, because it approachs so many subtle things that perpatuate the cycle and explains why we are stuck even when we think we have "good insight"

I totally agree: reassurance is a drug; and the addiction is extremely powerful. I managed to overcome alcoholism, quit smoking. It wasn't easy; however trying to break my addiction to reassurance is infinity more difficult...

I have learned a great deal from these videos. I thought that what I thought and felt was real precisely because it came from within me. The biggest breakthrough has been not doing it "one more time". When I finally practiced abstinence on the obsession and compulsion, I started feeling an incredible peace. The hardest part was awakening to the fact that my OCD behaviour is not NECESSARY. Big game changer. I was so scared what would happen if I just tried out "quitting". Turns out, letting go brings a flood of peace. There is no answer to my specific ocd obsession, because its not a real problem. The problem is the behaviour of obsession and compulsion itself. Once i see that, its like getting a chance to open my eyes for once. I have to know that its not normal, necessary, unique, or appropriate. That's what I have learned so far.

I was not one to seek reassurance but I left all the groups because the constant reassurance and excuses were exhausting as well as the DMs on how I got better, people with ocd tend to ignore what they need to do even when it is repeated over and over. Thanks for the videos, for those that want to hear, they help a lot.

This really helped me today- I recently fell into a new compulsion taking up an hour of my time every day and I really need to be strict with myself to recognise it is a compulsion and not give in to it

Hey Rob, Your videos have helped me a great deal the past two months as my OCD latched after being gone for 7 years. I understand how hard it can be to moderate a Facebook page when it comes to reassurance but I had to leave your Fb group because of all the reassurance people are doing. I also felt a bit 'scared' because if you scroll down, most of the posts are from the people that suffer the most and therefore the posts I feel tend to give this feeling of dread mixed with relief when people keep doing reassurance. Idk, just scared me personally. I'll end on a question of this channel: If I feel these videos are becoming 'reassurance seeking' for me like I have to watch them throughout the day, how do I balance this when I know they are helping me learn about my OCD as well? Thank you Rob.

Balance is key. In relation to the FB group we try our best to moderate it but of course some reassurance will still slip through.

Hey there, do you have any advice for staring ocd? I am struggling so much and literally have no idea what the correct therapeutic way to handle it is. It’s causing me a lot of stress because it’s one of the few ocds that other people can see and it freaks them out. It’s truly awful

Let's try recovery in reverse. Take person who is never expirienced ocd in life, what that person must do to get ocd?

@@OCDRecovery so it is something wrong in brain circuitry? Not behavioral problem? I do not have ocd but generalised anxiety disorder.
