Traditionally Monogamous. I want to build my house from the ground up and make my home. I don't like to keep investing in new things for them to be given back to the bank. I just saw too much as a kid tbh. I'm so tired of relationship hopping. But im not actually a jealous person. I am a clear cut person. You choose me, you choose me. You tell me if you dont want only me, just say it. I dont care if you hurt my feelings and I wont overreact. I want a clear cut relationship. No drama. Just communicate but I have my boundaries because I clearly want a monogamous relationship and you had to agree to that. I want my space and alone time. That's why I only need one person. I'm not a people person. I dont like clinging onto my partner. I like to think of my partner as home base and then i live out most of my life elsewhere. No not cheating, just living. I cant stand the idea of being physically with a person 24/7 just because they are your partner. I want the person around when we need/want each other. Not just because. Maybe once a week maybe every few hours lol. But yes for the rest of my life.

I feel like it’s so important not only for couples to be on the same page (or as close as possible) with these kinds of topics, but that they also feel comfortable enough to be honest about what they want. Having witnessed (and been a part of) relationships that aren’t open enough to engage honestly in these types of discussions, it makes it clear the relationship probably isn’t right and will lead to heartache down the line when people’s true feelings are uncovered. It’s been said a million times but honesty and open communication are vital for all healthy relationships, and not even just romantic ones either. Thanks for leading by example! ❤️

I love you but your options were misleading in your quiz. There was no option for those of us who like exclusivity because we feel it’s a higher form of expression or those of us who don’t get jealous but still like monogamy. It was almost implying anyone who is ideally monogynous is insecure & jealous.

Yeah, and I know couples who are monogamous with no jealousy. I know for me to be with someone exclusively, I have to trust them and know their character, so I don’t feel jealous in a relationship.

I agree. Particularly the question that asked what I'd do if my partner(s) told me they felt a strong connection with someone else. My initial reaction would have been none of the options listed. I would have asked them to explain what they mean by strong connection. Strong connection does not have to be romantic. Whether it was would be a part of my inquiry. Perhaps the question could state that the partner felt a strong romantic connection with someone ... that would have made more sense for the options listed. I generally felt restricted with those options, way more restricted than in a monogamous relationship, haha.

Arianna Parker the quiz at the end gives the description but if I can put it in my own words, we both believe in committing to one person but I’m open to considering another person join just for a night, or I wouldn’t be jealous if he would be out dancing with another girl (these weren’t the questions but this is how I feel). My bf wouldn’t. I think the summary comparison is traditional is one partner for life and modern is one partner at a time 🤷🏾‍♀️

I don't buy the idea that Shan REALLY is into Jared liking (even loving) a different person. She strikes me as the jealous type, but due to an internalized Stockholm syndrome in this regard she's trying to convince herself that she is open to the idea. I think if she were faced realistically/visually with Jared courting a different woman it would turn some gears inside of her, but as long as she doesn't see it or sense the threat of "love" and affection (not just interest) for this different person, she stays ambivalent thereby tricking herself that even in the worst case she could keep her cool.

If you have watched them for a long time, you could really see it the other way around. I think he just goes with the idea. When they got engaged, it seemed like he expected monogamy and she still liked the idea of staying openish. But because she is a women, people always assume it the girl. That not always the case.

I love this video so much. I do agree that labels are definitely for other people, it’s beneficial for others to know what your status with your partner is for social reasons. For example, whenever I meet new people my boyfriend introduces me as his girlfriend so that it is known to those around us that we are in a committed relationship and I am off limits. These things are important in ANY relationship, even family relationships.
