I love that you share the varieties that you plant so I can try them too. I think a Top Ten on varieties of each vegetable per year would be great. I will have my pen and paper ready!! Thank you for your wisdom!!

Thanks for sharing more of your favorites! Great tips to add to the toolbox too! I haven't grown lettuce much in the past, but am planning on growing more this year. Will definitely be considering you suggestions!

No orange lettuce? Just kidding - messing with you guys. 😁😁😁 Appreciate your channel. I love Paris Island Cos. I’m down in the Deep South and it gets hot by April, so slow to bolt is very important. I planted Arctic King last December and it’s done wonderfully. It’s a Bibb type from Baker Creek.

I don't like pelletized either. They don't germinate well. Lettuce and brassicas bolt quick down here in southern Louisiana.

Try Muir lettuce, I think you'll be surprised by how slow it is to bolt! Blessings!

Thanks for the tip on consecutive planting Muir lettuce. I never tried planting lettuce in July or August. I just figured it would immediately bolt I've always enjoyed Amish Deer Tongue, Red Sails and Grand Rapids all cut and come again leaf lettuce. My biggest problem is with voles. Any suggestions for ridding your garden beds of voles? I have seen a whole lettuce plant pulled underground by a vole just like carrots in a Bugs Bunny cartoon.

Sorry about your vole problem, we have gopher problems, they do the same thing. I've actually watched them pull an onion down under the ground - pretty funny watching your produce just disappear right before your eyes! We have a garden windmill that seems to help by vibration of the ground - don't know if voles dislike the vibration or not.
