What Made City of Heroes/Villains So Great For It’s Time?

In this video, I took a look back at the feelings City of Heroes/Villains gave me and why I loved it so much as a super hero MMO during the era of MMO dominance.
City of Heroes and City of Villains were superhero-themed massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) developed by Cryptic Studios and published by NCsoft. The games were released in 2004 and 2005, respectively, and were shut down in 2012. However, a private server called Homecoming was launched in 2019, which allows players to continue playing the game.
In City of Heroes and City of Villains, players could create their own superhero or villain and explore a large, open world filled with missions, villains, and other players. The games were known for their deep character customization, their focus on teamwork, and their extensive array of powers.
Players could choose from a variety of archetypes, or classes, each with its own unique set of powers. These powers could be combined in creative ways to create powerful builds. Players could also customize their costumes, weapons, and vehicles.
The games featured a variety of PvE and PvP content, including story missions, raids, and player-versus-player combat. Players could also form teams to take on more challenging content.

Been playing homecoming with 2 friends for about a week now, it's a great experience, I'm loving it, makes me remember the time when I played Star wars galaxies, and this game being community driven with no microtransactions and stuff is so amazing that is almost sad with the current gaming market, great video keep it up and take care.

I used to play this with my step dad when i was very young and I want to play it again. I also tried to play a wow private server and had the internet shut down. Im not sure why, but I was hoping to avoid that if I downloaded the private server. Do you have any idea about that or anything that id have to do besides pressing download on the website?

Homecoming just got an official license from the developers of the original game. It's not a private server anymore, it is the official City of Heroes now

NCSoft had just gave Homecoming the licence to officially host their server and is allowing them to make new content.

So, I played this game. I am convinced that this game was full of kids. It looks like crap, it played like crap, it really didn't have a lot to do. But damn was it fun being a hero/villain as a kiddo.

This game has hundreds of power combinations, one of the easiest teaming systems from any mmo, ever. Lot of things to do on it.
