Wrestlemania 24 was the last Wrestlemania of the ruthless aggression era. This show just had a vibe, WWE in 2008 was a fun time, the roster was a nice mix of veterans and new talent. The presentation of WWE was much better now as they finally went HD. Heading into WrestleMania 24, the fans were excited for this show, and this show definitely lived up to the hype. This show had one of the most emotional wrestling matches ever, along with one of the best celebrity matches ever and an amazing main event for the World Heavyweight Championship. This show just looked beautiful. WrestleMania once again felt like WrestleMania. So lets go back to 2008 and take a look at WrestleMania 24

The problem was, that this WM had too many Highlights. The Money In The Bank Ladder Match, the totally thrilling match between Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels, the main event, Chavo getting squashed and even Floyd Money Mayweather. Orton vs Triple H vs Cena would've been MOTY-candidate as a main event of any other PPV. But at this particular evening, with all those special matches it came out as a dull Triple Threat nobody remembers. The defense of Orton made this one even more hard to remember in retrospective. Same thing with the Triple Threat one year later.

(If you dont like To read Then just Hit Read More for the shortened version, look for The Long story Short) but Think about It like This... The year Is 2008, and the Most Hated Heel at the time is Champion. Flash foward To the Rumble And "DUN DUN DUN DUUUUUUUNNNN" Here comes Cena Who Went Ghost Almost missing Mania and Comes Back At The magic 30 Bomb winning the Whole Damn Thing! Now Head to no Way Out Where Hunter Believes He Has Some unfinished Business(mainly since He did at that time). And Add A Cocky Orton Who believes These Two Rice Burners aren't Even Good Enough To lace his Boots, And that Nobody Will Respect him ever unless he shows he's Elite To THINK That This Match Would End With A New Champion was TOTALLY FAIR And Acceptable, because Cena Would've Beat Flairs Record Later Down the Line and Ended his 08' Mania season With a Perfect Cinderella Story. Trips Wouldn't Have Had Anything To gain Other That Another Title Dub At WM and Payback For Getting Screwed. At N.W.O. Where as Orton, If he pulled off the Win Somehow Would've Been Seen as The BIGGEST Main Event Threat of that Era, AND would've Been Seen as An Elite player. But nobody Wanted to see Him Winning. "Rodger Goodell Challenge" So To SEE The Ending All of us didn't Think Would happen? BROOO! To The Fans there or at Home Globally...thats Word To NonPoint Cause Everybody down. Thats Word To Disturbed cause Everyone was Down With the Sickness... Orton Was On his GOOBA Shit that night, He was on Some "Talk Ya' Shit, or let ya nuts drag Bitch" type stuff. everyone down to They Moms Was Sick As Fuck when they Saw That Boot caressing The Side Of Hunters Face. He Stole The Win Right Out, No Cheap Shit, No Interference, Straight 1..2..3.. the Heel had won, The Heel had everyone talking that night...But sadly not enough. (Long Story Short): the outcome of that triple Threat seemed too good to be true but Thats Because it was! The Fact That It isn't Talked about as a M.O.2008 candidate Is a Whole 2 Pack of Ass(Word to joe budden). It's One of those matches That doesn't get Respect Because Of How Sick The Fans Were After The Bell. anyone Who Has Seen this match Will be like "Yeah It was Cool but Orton Won So it kinda killed The Show for me" Well Yeah it kinda did for me too But if Orton Were to lose There? Then SOMEONE ELSE Would've had to Hold Their L that night, And you Know How That Would've went...(Looking At 15-1 Deadman) Plus him being the Bad Guy And Winning? That Was All orton needed To get You talking. Controversy is, Was, and will forever still be a form of Publicity, no matter who is the Center. And y'all know How The Internet Gets Reeeeaaalll Dirty Bout THAT kind of Subject. But lets Talk about it. "MGK Challenge" (24 was my favourite mania next To 30 so this is a bit wordy than most P.W. Overviews i do)

It's so weird listening to someone today talk about "the good old days" of wrestling in 2008. The internet was filled with people absolutely shitting on the product, talking about "the good old days" of the late 90's, and how bad wrestling had become. I must admit, I was kind of apart of that crowd (being only 15 at the time) but I look back now and I can appreciate it wasn't as bad as maybe we all thought it was. Goes to show, always enjoy life. Because one day, you'll look back at all the good things, as when you're in the moment, they pass you by.

As someone who grew up during the attitude era I admit being guilty of doing that. It wasn't that the ruthless agression era was bad. Actually from a wrestling standpoint it was superior to the attitude era. It's just I was in high school during the attitude era and Monday night wars and nothing matches the electricity of that era. Its hard to explain if you weren't around for it.

Pre Hd shows have a nostalgia for me. I remember taping wrestlemania 22 and watching it over and over and over on a tiny TV with integrated VHS that had to myself in my room (which was fuckin awesome) i was only 6 or 7 and man. I mustve seen HBK elbow drop Vince Mcmahon with the trash can like 80 times. Wish i had a flux capacitor. Thank you to this channel for essentially reliving these moments for me. Youre doing a true valiant service to kids 10 years ago who loved this stuff such as myself. P.S also to anyone who sees this download the dailymotion app youre able to watch a ton of old matches that arent on youtube. True life saver

That Shawn Michaels vs Ric Flair match will always make me cry even as a grown man 🥹 WM24 was the first Mania ever saw and I had only seen one wrestling show before that (Monday Night Raw before WM24) I rewatch this Mania every year before the next one to remind myself why I love wrestling so much! I will always be thankful for the beautiful wonders of Wrestlemania 24

This is one of my all time favorite shows ever. Not just WrestleMania, not just PPVs, not just WWE shows... This is one of my favorite WRESTLING SHOWS ever. I was a little kid at the time but I had already been watching WWE for a couple years and had already started getting into TNA, ROH, and was about to discover PWG. My favorite wrestlers were Shawn, Orton, Edge, Batista, and Taker. This show was so special. The first WrestleMania in HD. The first outdoor WrestleMania of my lifetime. Everyone I wanted to see with the exception of Rey Mysterio & Jeff Hardy was on the show. We saw the retirement of Ric Flair in an incredible match with Shawn Michaels (everything else is non-canon), I got to see my boy Edge go toe to toe with The Undertaker. I thought and was actually rooting for Edge to win as I did with Batista the year previous and against Shawn the next two years. But like always when Taker won I was still very happy. We saw Batista hit the Batista Bomb on the 350lb Umaga. The usually spectacular MITB ladder match in it's 4th year as a WrestleMania tradition with the soon to be main event star CM Punk winning and we saw Shelton go ham like always. Also the return of Matt Hardy was exciting. My favorite wrestler Randy mf Orton smoked a blunt with Snoop Dogg then beat Triple H and John Cena. I was so happy because I always hated Cena and while I liked Triple H I didn't want him to win either. It's one of the few Manias were everything felt right. My all time favorite Manias are 19, 23, & 24. 19 is perfect but the Shooting Star Press botch is more remembered than anything else. 23 was perfect but John Cena just had to beat my guy HBK. But Mania 24, that one just hit right. 2008 was a great year and the pick me up we all needed after some of the more shitty events of 2007.

Bro I'm 38, been a Huge wrestling fan my whole life. I grew up with Hogan and the ultimate warrior(Wwf), and Flair and Sting(WCW), followed as hbk and bret hart dominated. Then watched Diesel and Razor Ramone go to WCW and with Hogan form the NWO. Went to Nitros, and Raw/Heat house shows. Even went to an ECW show in 1998. This was the only Wrestlemania I ever attended in person (I'm from Jax so it was only a 2+Hr drive). I went with my wife and best friend, and we decked our Jeep out using different color shoe polish with tons of wrestling slogans, signs, and merch, for the trip, (people at the events were taking pictures of our Jeep lol). We attended the HOF on Saturday where the Rock came back for the first time in years and I actually started a chant that caught his attention and he acknowledged me, and my wife started freaking out 😆 it's on the DVD lol. Then watching Ric Flairs retirement speech made me cry tears of joy as i chanted. Plus we got to meet the sign guy and get pics with him. Then we attended Wrestlemania and it was beyond amazing, seriously. At the end of the show when the fireworks failed and fell into the crowd, they landed by us and we actually got video footage of it. The next night at Raw was the best Raw I've ever attended, and I'd been going since 99, when they came to Jax, FL. We got there early so as every wrestler arrived we got pics and got to get some autographs too (Ashley signed my Wrestlemania 24 jersey, and I have a pic with her with my hand on her boob that my wife took 😆. Also when Elijah Burke arrived(A Jax boy) we chanted DUUUUVVAALLL and he came right to us and gave us love, took pics and signed my WM jersey, then went back heel to everyone else, it was hilarious and amazing. You captured the magic of this Wrestlemania weekend in your video. Thank you for this! We also came prepared with 2 signs, a thank you Ric sign and a 16-0 sign. And I didn't know this was the last Wrestlemania of that Era until now but that makes sense and is so awesome I was there. I'm an old AEW Mark now(I'm from Jacksonville and have been to their shows since the first one, plus I'm a Jaguars Fan so I Love the Kahn family. Tony is a wrestling genius and this eras Vince McMahon or Eric Bicheoff, and his dad is today's Ted Turner 😆 Thank you so much again for this video. One of the greatest weekends of my life!

I remember watching it live on ppv and thought it looked so cool being outdoors, especially with the jets flying across. I was also happy that Taker vs Edge main evented as well because even as a kid I got tired of Cena or any Raw roster main eventing Wrestlemania, I was always a Smackdown guy so seeing those 2 main eventing was damn awesome. God Can't believe its been 12 years :')

I started watching Wrestling in 8th grade back in late 2007 after Survivor Series. My parents only ever let me order one PPV, and this was it. WrestleMania 24 is the only Mania I've watched all the way through. I remember being sooooo invested in the World Title matches. I was so happy when Undertaker finally got the W. I'd barely been watching at that point and still knew he had a storied history worth celebrating
