For y’all straight ppl, you don’t gotta worry. A large majority of women (non-trans) can get off without penetration if you use just rub their clot the right way. It’s a little bean like thing near the side toward their belly. And also, around 5 inches is where it’s typically starting to be big enough to be uncomfortable from well a size too big to fit kinda like trying to use a shoe size too small. Since the tightness of a woman’s stuff doesn’t change, the only way to truly get use to it is to get used to the pain or simply like it.

I just got a Smith and Wesson brand boot knife very similar to the first one. Same double sided blade dagger style. It is very well put together and was 16 dollars. 4.5 inch blade but to me that's an advantage as fixed blades are harder to conceal. I grew up thinking anything under 80 is awful. Times change

I have martial arts training with blades and I can tell you are right about everything you said. The grand master in my martial talked once about the ideal fighting knife. A bowie, about 13 inches overall length with 4 mm blade thickness being single edge for better edge geometry. The only thing I would like to point out is that the options you shown are good for home defense but not for EDC. For something that can be carried in the street I think folders work the best.

The Cold Steel Espada XL with G10 handles. Yes its big with a 7.5 inch blade, but it is a folder and fits in your pocket. It used the Triad Lock, and I've tested it. I think the knife itself would break, before the lock. Also the sound it makes when it locks up, is quiet intimidating. :)

My opinion, a true "fighting knife" must be double edged. In a combat situation, slashing effectively is a critical tactic, not having to reverse your edge in order to cut or slash is a big advantage over single edge. You slash your way into stabbing your opponent. TOPs makes quality double edge fighters.

Heck yeah they're deadly.. Just remember that the 21 foot rule works in both directions. I wouldn't laugh off anything with an edge - intent is the key factor. Intent is the quickest factor to deploy, and you may never recognize it until it is too late.

I have a Cold Steel Recon Tanto. Very light, fast slashing and reverse slash, very sharp for stabbing. Long enough to pierce vital organs, large veins and blood vessels. Also have Slysteel Spectre Combat Survival Knife. Made by TOPS and quite large with a curvedl belly along the blade. Long enough to go from front or back piercing several organs and the aorta and vena cava. Excellent slashing and chopping with adequate weight. It will take an arm off. And do camp chores making feather sticks, chopping branches, batoning to split firewood, and cutting meat for cooking. Also have a double edged boot and belt knife from Slysteel. The grip panels can be removed for a thinner, skeletal design and carry in a boot. Very sharp mainly for stabbing. Just a nasty last ditch stabber to puncture the assailant.

I don't know much about knife fighting. But for years I was not a fan of tanto knives. I thought they looked too ninja mall-ish! I collected a lot of outdoor knives, mostly Coldsteel due to great quality, toughness, great designs, and price. I have a few fallknivens and BRKs but CSteels are my favorite. About 4 years ago I purchased a Recon Tanto SK5 because my SRKs were in my safe a thousand miles away because I had just moved. I wanted something a little different than the SRK and wanted something cheap because I was doing a e months trip camping, fishing, and hiking from Florida to Maine. Well, the Recon is a better outdoors knife than the SRK! Being a little longer it swings more efficiently, ir is a better batoning knife, with the full squared spine it is a much better tool for scraping fatwood or cedar bark for a tinder bundle! This is a wonderful knife for chopping (side limbs of a branch for a walking stick or similar uses), it is great for preparing dry center wood for fire starting, and great for trailblazing clearing a path. The Recon easy to sharpen and maintain. I now also have the VG10 version and wish they still made the 3V.

I say that 11 dollar knife is the best, because after you use your knife It's probably best to disassociate yourself with your knife. It's easy to part with an 11 dollar knife. Someone is more likely to hold onto a knife that's in the 150 dollar range. One of the best strategies with a knife is to make your opponent think you wont fight or you're not a threat and then draw them in close. If a knife is your weapon then you need to study human anatomy. Bones offer a lot of resistance to knife attack. everything you want to know about knife combat has been studied and perfected hundreds of years ago. There's nothing new. study and practice the old techniques and you won't go wrong. Don't get into the mindset you need a big knife to be effective. The grave yards are full of people killed with a 2 inch bade or less. A box cutter only has about 1/2 inch blade exposed and can rip you to pieces. The blade you dont see is the one that kills you. You're not going to be jumping around with knife like a pair of homo's in west side story. Real life is different. Once someone sees their clothes soaked with blood, even if the wounds aren't fatal they will probably go into shock. Once someone goes into shock, they are on their way to hell. The fight is over.

9 inches to the stomach, just below the zyphiod process= instantaneous loss of consciousness. & about 3" till death. (If I remember correctly, it's been along time since I looked at the old Timetable of Death) but the reason so much penetration depth is needed there is because you are passing through the stomach and stabbing into the 3 arteries that branch off kinda in a cluster from the abdominal aorta.

It really doesn't matter what knife you have unless it's made out of a Chinesium-type steel that is almost as weak as plastic and will bend instead of penetrating. It doesn't matter if the handle is gonna come loose after the first strike. All that means is that you have to make that first strike count.

@@Revelation1316 absolutely, as it is with me. I prefer something solid and full tang with a 90° spine and a scandi grind personally, but if I'm getting a job done I really have no reservations about the exact blade I'm using. If a knife does the job, and it does it well, then it is in fact a knife. I like pretty stuff from time to time but you won't catch me dead or alive without a quality blade for going through the trenches (quality meaning effectiveness not necessarily really high priced)

I work in executive protection & private security. Besides my folder which I carry Strongsville pocket I carry a CRKT Obake (3.5") fixed blade midline behind my belt, & a 6.5" CRKT HZ6 on my tac vest. The HZ6 as well as my Glock & the vest are good visual deterrents, but should I need the HZ6 I know it not only gives me range, but can stop a fight quickly. I like a smaller blade as it's handy if in a grapple & will likely go unnoticed as the visual focus will be on the pistol & big knife.

I agree. With the fact that most combat situations happen in the close range, knife is more lethal than guns. I also believe that with a good understanding of grappling (Wrestling, Judo, Jiu Jitsu), we can wrestle the firearms out. In fact, many records show that attackers lose the fight even when they were carrying guns because they don't know to fight. With a knife, not so much.

Sure, but if the other guy has a knife longer then yours... I have been collecting knives since the mid 80's, and a retired Marine taught me some tricks of the trade. So I prefer a "Fighting" knife to have at least a 7.5 inch blade. I recently purchased the Cold Steel Espada XL with G10 scales. It has a 7.5 inch blade, and its a folder with the Cold Steel Triad lock, and it does fit in my pocket. My absolute favorite "Fighting" knife is my Cold Steel 1917 Frontier Bowie. It has a 12 inch blade and a great guard. It is heavy, but that means it hits harder. All I have to do is guide it to where I want it to land. I also have a Military Khukuri with a 10 inch blade, and it was made for combat. No guard but it has shock and awe power. I had a person pull a knife on me once. But I had a 6 foot long hiking staff and I beat the snots out of him. Its all about Reach.

The Tanto, like the Saex/Wharncliffe/etc. and other similar "pointy single edge blades" is like running a California legal AR to skirt around Cali gun laws. As a fighting knife the dagger is superiors and is proven over thousands of years of real combat, from Rome to medieval Europe to America, but it is regulated hard. The Bowie as well which is more or less a short falchion. Of course the 2A Lobby doesn't care about arms beyond range toys for man-children to post on Instagram so it will prob stay that way. But most of the aspects that make a good fighting knife, like a dagger, dirk, or Bowie are illegal. The Tanto is basically a half-dagger with mall cop aesthetics but it doesn't face the same regulations that a bowie or a dagger would face.

Apparently, they got those ones right (abdomen instant-death strikes), by happenstance or not Now if we can get them to be more realistic with medication administration and onset, we'll be golden. The answer to the question, what makes a good fighting knife?" A good fighter. I see 15-17 knife fights on a bad year. I haven't been stuck or cut in about 20 years maybe.

Yeah. All these know alls with their "I can make 3", 4"," 5" work", bla.. bla.. bla.. the men in the trenches of WWI France and Flanders and in WWII would disagree with them. This is why the perfect military fighting knife in WWII was 6.7 - 7" long. With 6" being the bare minimum - Lyn Thompson, Cold Steel.

If it's a fighting knife, it's a killing knife and chances are you use it once and it likely becomes evidence so may as well get a well built cheap steel fixed blade. Not hard to build a single piece of steel with a kraton over mold. You don't want to spend money because you may want to get rid of it. As long as it can get sharp you don't need good steel because it doesn't require edge holding. Hell, get a machete. They have proven themselves in many theatre's overseas as a weapon, cheap sharp and can lop off limbs. The extra length it a bonus although it's mostly limited to slashing attacks. For a self defense knife, not a fighting knife, get something you will actually carry because almost no one is going to carry a 6"fixed blade. The Kabar? Got one and damn that's a mean looking blade. Some psycho used one to kill 4 college kids in 10 minutes. So, yeah, it works.

These knife retailers on You Tube (and whoever else uses them or who they use, like Zac) makes me laugh. They promote 1.9" blades for defence...? and the context of their videos suggests they are aimed at novices!?? Some are even claiming to choose blade designs to 'mame', not nutralise. I was told one should never pull a knife to scare people. As the old Knight saying goes, don't pull it if you aren't intening to use it. My choice, if I could only have one for everything..along the lines of defence, strength, even some survival, is the Glock FM78, and believe me my blades have ran into the multiple thousands of dollars. It is a mere 7 ounces. What you get for that is sobering and unprecendented... 6.5" blade that can bend 48 degrees and return dead true, a full handle grip (often overlooked - all good fighting knives have them, a 4.7-5" overall handle); and a knife as strong or stronger than a Fallkniven A1! That is incredible for a military combat knife produced in 1978!!! (but it did have one update: a higher grind, which reduced weightand improved slicing). Money when it comes to knives is NOT all that it seems! Neither is the prestige of the manufacturer. It most oftentimes nothing. Good knives are hard to find. Some say the Glock is too narrow. That wider blades mean quicker nutralisation. If you look to history and even most dedicated fighting knives (e.g. daggers), it is wide enough. Nutnfancy argued one needs a wider blade for slashing and weight. Again the glock is weighty and wide enough - Lyn Thompson proved this. I would also argue, based on historical fact, slashing should not be your focus - this is T.V. drama. After your first few (superficial) slashes adrehanline takes over. You wont notice them - this is not good Reason: tendon damage. At this point it will become up close and personal. Then 2 things will count and little else: penetration and speed. Glock FM78 has this covered more than most. Sure and depending on opponent skill there may be some slashing, but avoid it if you want use of your arms and hands again afterwards. In conclusion the goal is to nutralise, not slash. But the best thing about Glock FM78 is its legal in most countries, and is an excellent, genuine hard use, versatile knife that you will actually carry! And it gives added last resort reassurance in case of close quartre coyote, wolf or bear attacks.

The thing about knives is there is a lot more control in how it is used. You can't choose how badly injured someone is when you shoot them, but if you use a knife there are so many different ways to use it. Hell, you can use it sheathed as a leveraging tool kind of like how you would use a baton to control someone's arm. You can use a knife as a stimulant for pressure points if you drive the pommel (the butt end of the handle) into a pressure point. Then of course there's the more widely known uses for a knife such as blockind or parrying, slashing, stabbing, etc.

If you have never had to use a knife in a combat situation you should not be making KZfaq videos. Its just that simple. Your $17 dollar knife will fail you when you need it the most. It takes a ton of effort to get a knife blade into a rib cage, then it takes even more to get it back out.
