This is so relieving to hear. With TV/Film being my focus I always wanted to pull stuff from Netflix but for some reason it felt wrong. This is music to my ears. Thank you Backstage and Matt.

Pick something simple. Simple and doable that allows you quickly hook into an emotion and go. You don't want much imagery or complicated logic. Short, sweet and compelling.

Thanks again Matt , i nailed a couple days work with this advice and even though im not gonna break whats not broke for me but wanted to ask and i know your probably super busy but i have to just in case you do happen to read this and have a few to reply. Whats your advice on delivering a monologue that for example i wrote myself. Again not tring to be cocky by assuming im half a good a writer as the one i just did from a show on NETFLIX (GO FIGURE RIGHT) . But when on of the producers asked what that was from again and i said from NETFLIXS (sTRANGER THINGS ). He replied good idea. i said thank Mr Matt (had to plug ya ) because i watched all his BACKSTAGE KZfaq Videos b4 auditing to twhich he said "Gotta check that out , your following some good advice " NO JOKE EITHER SO KUDOS . BE WELL! Thanks in advance either way, Michael Cunha

Doing monologues from TV, Netflix, etc. does that have any conflicts with copyright laws?
@malaak8747
@malaak8747 6 жыл бұрын
Melanie Weeks before you perform the monologe tell the audience where is the script from like what movie and I think that should be enough, like u giving them a credit and stating who is from. Is like singing auditions they say who sang the song and I don't think they get in trouble with copyright laws

How do you know your “type?” What types are there?
@leviklassen2334
@leviklassen2334 4 жыл бұрын
A "type" is essentially the kind of character you see yourself playing in a film or movie. Everyone has an initial "type" that someone else would see you as. For me, most people see me as a "fun and witty best friend to a lead character" type. And as much as that is my type, there's also a very suspenseful, mania, dramatic side of me that not a lot of people recognize and only I myself really know I have. I suggest asking your friends what kind of movie genre's they see you in and also what kind of characters they can see play as well, then build off of that! There's lots of information online you can find about acting types. You've most likely heard of the word "typecasting", which means giving the actor a very specific type of character to play in most of his/her films, shows, or movies. Ex: Dwayne Johnson is typecasted as the intimidating badass male lead in pretty much all his movies, just like Kevin Hart is the quick, comedy relief. Pro tip* Embrace your type. No matter what it is, embrace it. Cause that's who you are. If you want to build towards something that you can't see yourself as, work on that separately.

Little research online or asking other people who battle it helps to . I like to press and release a pressure point on my hand. It might just be a placebo but it works for me . You'll find what works for you , you just gotta look. Be Well! All the best , Michael Cunha
