I love people talking about Kamen Rider who is outside of the fandom. It makes me happy to see other people talk and watch about it, I badly want more people to get into Kamen Rider.

This might be a stretch but in terms of rider inspiration, I feel like ryuki is one of chainsaw mans biggest inspiration. In ryuki, the riders form contracts with mirror monsters, much like how hybrid devils form a contract to transform. Also the fact that denji’s eyes are the only one out of the hybrids like we see, much like how ryuki is the only one we can see the compound eyes. There’s also devils fighting devils paralleling riders fighting riders in ryuki’s story. It might be a stretch but I just noticed it a lot.

I grew up with old dvds of power rangers and masked rider later in life I decided to watch kamen rider because I always liked masked rider more than power rangers. fast forward 8 years and I now have every manga, watched every season, and have my own kamen rider saber cosplay. I always knew there was some sort of connection between csm and kamen rider but couldn’t put my finger on it. This finally allowed me to figure it out. Keep doing what you’re doing this was amazing

In Super Hero Senki, which is the crossover movie commerorating Rider's 50th anniversary and Sentai's 45th anniversary, there's a conflict about wanting to draw heroes of justice and them always feeling evil since they have to fight. In a paper I wrote on themes within the whole of tokusatsu, I wrote about how henshin heroes are a spin on the liminal space that atomic bomb victims were forced into. Atomic bomb survivors were seen as neither dead nor alive, while tokusatsu heroes are seen as human and some sort of 'other', whether that be a god ala Ultraman or a cyborg ala Rider and Sentai. This liminal space can of course be applied to heroes, particularly those coming from Ishinomori or those inspired by him, with heroes being conflicted over the amount of evil they possess within themselves. I acknowledge this by referencing Toqger's sixth ranger and how he was a monster who came to be accepted by humanity after his atonement.

I've been watching kuuga with a couple of my friends who've been getting me into kamen Rider, so it's been interesting seeing how these series intertwine

There is a lot of showa and old heisei rider influences in terms of Chainsaw Man's writing and I guess design. I would bet a lot on Showa, because Chainsaw Man looks and sometimes even sounds like Shin Kamen Rider (the gnarly transforming one) alongside Amazons, with the influence of Skull Man being more pronounced because of the gore. Still waiting on a show or manga that can take a lot from the elements present in Gaim, Blade, Ex-Aid, or maybe even OOO.

Imagine if one of the fights in the series is a big homage to the final battle in Kuuga (Denji's peace sign even reminds me of Yusuke's thumbs up). Also, I like calling Yoru the Ankh of Chainsaw Man (although she's nowhere near as much of an asshole as he is).

I'm glad to see one of my favorite KZfaq channels who I go to for JoJo and DMC related content for getting into my new favorite franchise that influenced some of not all of my favorite works of Anime and manga.
