A meal we love is......get a gratin dish, chop 2 tins of tin potatoes put them in the bottom of dish. Add sliced corned beef, sliced onion, tin of tomatoes then pour over some gravy. Add pepper, maybe add grated cheese on top. Pop in the oven for about half a hour. Its delicious , easy and cheap. We love it . Serve with brocolli or peas, anything really. X 10:09

A quick favourite of ours is to peel and slice some red potatoes, add a sliced onion and add a packet of dry onion soup mix . Toss everything together in a bowl and then spray some Pam on a large piece of tin foil , add the potato mixture with a piece of butter on the top and close up the tin foil to make it into a parcel. Cook it for about 35 minutes on 375. I like to serve this with slices of crisp bacon and broccoli. ❤🇨🇦

Fab meals as always, the lasagne looks fab. I'm vegan and I adore vegan "fish" chips and mushypeas. I love how you make everything from scratch including the curry. Rose watch "Dinner with Donna" she is a lovely lady who cooks from scratch for herself, hubs and 2 kids. She has some fab meal ideas, her video tonight had orange chicken as one of the meals tonight which looked lovely. Donna sadly due to her cancer treatment is not allowed to drive but she does food hauls from all the different supermarkets as she gets food delivered xx

Thanks Faye and to be honest I wouldn’t eat something I don’t like so why should my children have too and I’d rather they eat than waste ❤️I’ve tried that method in the past eat or leave it and usually it means my children are going to leave it so I try to make them what I know they will eat, mind it doesn’t always work 😂 xxxx

The meals looked great (except Jaydens food 😂). I’m not very good at cooking, so I only make very quick meals and eat a lot of bread. But I do love a salad with some smoked salmon, boiled eggs, avocados, tomatoes and of course lettuce topt with a creamy sauce.

Those burgers and that salad look delicious! I wanted to ask you. My husband loves sweet potato fries but i can never get them crisp in the oven. What temp and for how long do hou bake them for?
@rosiesimpson__
@rosiesimpson__ 4 ай бұрын
In all honesty I struggle with sweet potato fries too, I either over cook them or they come out soggy lol, I think the secret is fry them but I don’t eat fried food generally, fresh ones I just wedge or cut them into chunky circles, I use olive oil and season then pop in oven(electric fan my ovens not very good ) for around 30 mins on 200 but I keep checking them can I have a habit of forgetting and sometimes I burn them lol xxxx

@@rosiesimpson__ I've never tried cutting sweet potatoes into chunky circles. I have potatoes though but more thinly cut and they turn out amazing. Really crispy. Almost like crispy chips but not deep fried which is a bonus. I'd imagine I could also try cutting sweet potatoes like that too. Less turning in the oven as opposed to when they're cut like wedges. Thank you for the tip!

Stumbled upon your video by accident always lookking for normal uk ideas for large family as feel stuck in a rut and trying keep grocery budget not too much. How Mary family members in total. Ard they mostly teens so eat adult portions? Feel your pain on fussy kids i have 4 and some likes one things others dont so end up doing 2 meals. Whats rough cost of each meal please. Thats a lot of pork mince. I use red lentils stretch out mince sometimes. Keep thinking about air fryer do you rate tge ninja cart decide which ones good for family of 6 plus dog. We shop aroubd to try and save money so several supermarket. Do a mix of frozen meals in oven and home cooked. That fish is tiny shrinkflation. I have a few mini oven dishes either hb or poundland might have saved the 2 meals that dident work out by using smaller dish.

Hey lovely first thanks so much for watching, hope you’re well ❤️I have 9 kids including my husband 😂just joking ❤️I have 8 children but my oldest son doesn’t live at home, then there’s myself and hubby and a dog and a few reptiles that belong to my daughter lol, I make at least 6 adult sized meals and the pork was only about 2.50 per pack, but small packs that’s why I bought 3 , plus my dog eats a normal diet so he had some too ❤️cost per head varies, it depends what I make and what moneys like that week, sorry I can’t be more specific, I used to do that type of content for my TikTok but I closed my account down as to much pressure ❤️I shop around too, I love Aldi and I usually go to Iceland although not been in a while , the airfryer helps as I can cook things faster and I don’t have to use my cooker for some meals which can save energy but having to cook for so many I usually use both ❤️hope this helps, have a lovely weekend ❤️xxxx

@goodlifeliving1667

@rosiesimpson__ thanks for speedy reply I know its tricky as you used quite. A few store cupboard ingredients in some meals so hard estimate cost of seasononings. I have 4 kids age 18 14 12 and 5 plus big kid husband who prefers meat based dishes.. my small dog has 1 small Carton wet food and dried food from sainsbury own brand he's quite fussy plus if see cooked or sliced meats he gets those as treat and some dog treats. I really noticed price beef mince go up loads ended up getting big pack tesco yesterday for £4.99 and splitting for spaghetti bol sat night and cottage pie Sunday. Hard to find even reduced meat anymore. Morrisions do a small pack chicken wings for £1 but you would need 3 packs and I use the aldi piri piri seasoning and serve with chips. I get 15% off at Iceland as eldest works there just don't find it that cheap. We tried farmfood with vouchers from papers this month and get some food bits from b&m or home bargain. Home bargains actually really cheap on some fresh items. It's packed lunches and snacks that I find really bump up grocery bill. Finding lilds straight after am school drop 8 30 am best as that's when I find 60% off and occasional £1.50 veg box. B&m nearly always has reduced Warburton bread that I freeze we have 4 freezer. I use my slow cooker a lot can't decide which air fryer to buy. Definitely splurge on few mini dishes as handy for fussy kids. Only 2/4 like casserole or curry. Only 3/4 like fish. We constantly have same meals spaghetti bol/ cottage pie/ burgers and chips. Hot dogs and chips. Chicken nuggets and chips. Pizza. Occasional roast we don't do roast every week. Pasta bake their least favourite. Baked potato or omelette if skint. Sometimes do buffet with frozen party fare use frozen sausage rolls cooked to go in lunch boxes. Try and find reduce bread items s and freeze. We get through 4 to 6pints of milk per day. Trying bring food budget down to 100 per week which seems impossible some months. I work 4 days so hard to shop around and cook more. I used to batch cook but got out of the habit as used be able to buy several packs mince 30% off in aldi or huge pack chicken fillets for 10 quid think they now £14. The aldi super six no longer feels cheap example last week blueberries £1.49! Missing wilkos for my cleaning items cheap. We bulk brought dishwasher tabs and loo roll in farmfoods as they do a really good £20 deal that should last us 2_3 months as use 1 loo roll a day. 4 dishwasher tabs and sometimes do 2 to 4 loads of washing per day on my days off.

It’s not easy bless, I shop around and tend to do a few big shops and the smaller ones as the month goes by❤️my kids would love if I just did burgers and hotdogs and pizzas as usually that’s what they ask for when I ask them lol, I just try different things, I look at the internet and instagram for ideas as sometimes they have brilliant budget recipes ❤️Meat is expensive I agree, and will definitely buy some smaller cooking dishes, I always mean too but then something else needs buying ❤️I swap between brands and stores own depending what’s on offer and what my budget is that week ❤️I think you do really well ❤️xxxx

Interesting. You will always struggle with recipes if you allow children’s’ likes and dislikes to control the menu. Be stricter, decide on one meal and that’s it, if they don’t eat it then they’ll go hungry or have to make themselves a sandwich. Why do you buy supermarket meat? Do you not have good local butcher? I really admire the effort you put in to make home cooked meals and you are obviously working as well. All credit to you. But catering for individual likes and dislikes must be a nightmare for you and makes mealtimes unnecessarily long and tiring I hope they wash up for you 🤣🤣. P.S I’m glad I don’t have your weekly food bill 🤣. Also check out the Aromat seasoning it’s probably full of MSG 🤔
@rosiesimpson__
@rosiesimpson__ 5 ай бұрын
Hi and thankyou, we used to have a lot of local butchers but most of them have closed now, the few that remain open are larger chains and work out rather expensive when I do shop there so I tend to find that the supermarkets work out slightly cheaper at this time 😊and I have this conversation with my husband all the time about meal choices, I understand completely what you are saying but as a child I often went without meals so I know what it’s like to be hungry and I have actually tried the don’t eat it go without and I know it doesn’t work as my children are rather stubborn 🥲and thanks for the advice on the Aromat I shall check that out 😊my boys are a great help 👍but my girls definitely let the side down 😂hope you are well? Take care 😊xxxx

@@rosiesimpson__ thank you so much Rosie, good to hear from you. Point taken on kids ! I am a bit paranoid about the provenance of food and mainly meat. I like to know where my meat comes from. However I totally understand what you are saying on cost. Supermarkets will always buy depending on cost, that’s how they make their huge profits. It is possible some may come from Brazil and Argentina and their herds are not yet BSE free. As long as you buy British with the tractor symbol you are normally safe. Glad you get some help !! ❤️
