Are there things about heaven that no one has told you about?
Things you haven’t heard in church? Or on television? Or even here on KZfaq?
Things that are actually IN the Bible, that would have been very familiar to people living at the time of Jesus, but are lost on most of us today?
Well, today I’m going to share with you four things that will definitely change how you think about heaven in this episode of Misreading Scripture.

Misreading Scripture is a series that takes common scriptures and helps you to see them with a new set of eyes. Many of these are scriptures we have been innocently misinterpreting. And once we gain insight into the culture and context of the passage, all of a sudden it becomes clear in an entirely new way.

For many years now, I have believed that that anyone who claims Jesus Christ as their King and Lord, is already in God's Kingdom. We spend way too much time trying to "qualify" for something we cannot qualify for outside of Jesus Christ. Being and living in Jesus Christ makes us his subjects, His people, His domain, therefore, we are in God's Kingdom by default of His will. Yes, we are looking forward to His coming and reign here in earth, but was not told to just sit around and wait for the Kingdom and trying to qualify. We are told to seek His kingdom and His righteousness, now, in our lives. So lets start living in God's Kingdom by living in His reign and authority.

Jesus indicated that the Heavenly Kingdom would be given to a 'new nation" and removed from Israel. (Matthew 21:43) This is why I say to you, the Kingdom of God will be taken from you and be given to a nation producing its fruits. That "new nation" consists of Jews and people of all nations numbering 144,000. They are what Paul calls the "Israel of God". (Gal. 6:16) The churches have NOT been sharing the truth that ONLY the 144,000 will go to Heaven, billions will live on earth. Instead, they have preached lies, false man made doctrines that give people a hope that won't happen!

@robertstephenson6806 New Heaven and New Earth are SYMBOLIC, the literal Heavens and the earth will endure forever. (Psalm 104:5) He has established the earth on its foundations; It will not be moved from its place forever and ever. (Psalm 78:69) He made his sanctuary as enduring as the heavens, Like the earth that he has established forever.

When I was little, I imagined Heaven as a place with clouds and angels, with sunny days and starry nights, and with little cottages for each of us to live in. But at my dad's funeral, his parish priest said in his sermon that Heaven will be wondrous beyond our limited imagination and understanding.

God gave me the smallest glimpse of heaven that I could take. I had to look away or would have been drawn up. The totality of LIFE in Heaven makes everything on earth look like the totality of death. Everything on earth is being created, but is also dying. Jesus came to give us LIFE. Is Heaven going to be way out there? No. We are going to live in the state we were meant to live in. Is God is going to be with us? No, we will be with Him. Just like we are to serve Him, and not the other way around.

@OSULLIVAN101 I understand how this has been misrepresented to you but what you're saying is a misrepresentation Starting with the Bible. It's many things ,many books , historical, poetic ,theology; subjects & events told from different individuals perspectives ,real mysteries & miracles often told as much as questions as answers. In the old testament/torah there are conventions of saying "God did...." which meant 'allowed' & often used to highlight the gulf between us & God referencing moral shortcomings. It's inspired but by poor, faulty, human transmission. Then the NT the resolution, clarification of what God really is like & the correct code or lens to understand the rest of scripture. It is consistent. God is just, is loving & both warnings for our own good and help (& guidance) are given. Those who do not reject the Spirit ,the good taught, to prefer evil won't be judged like those who do. Stealing food from those who won't feed you when you're starving won't cut you off from God's presence. Get a longer/ better explanation of it all (like "love covers many a sin") than you can in a YT comment . Speak to a priest - or ,to a few find one you feel comfortable with, and you'll soon find the answers or be well on the way. Just be open. God bless you.

*These words are not mine.* These are the words the Ruach HaKodesh (YAHUAH's Set-Apart Spirit) uttered through me when I prayed to YAHUAH; asking him what *he wants* me to say, knowing the truth: "Know that YAHUAH is the name of the Most High and YAHUsha is the name of The Son. Come out of her, my people, who have fallen to the deceit of Constantine. Who know not my name and say they love me. I have made myself known. I have heard you and I am here. There are many who are yours to be saved. I am he who knows all that you are. Come to me, here are they who are mine. Make haste to come, here are we. Give in to them who speak of me, they are yours. I am here for you. Know that all is for them, here are we. Give not to them that are against me. I am he who sees all you do. Come to me out of her, all are here for me. Do what I say. Out of her, come. All are here." Exodus 3:13-15 KJV 13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? 14 And God said unto Moses, I Am That I Am: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you. 15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, the Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations. John 5:43 KJV 43 *I am come in my Father's name,* and ye receive me not: *if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.* 2 Corinthians 6:17 KJV 17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and *touch not the unclean thing;* *and I will receive you.* Isaiah 52:6-7 KJV 6 Therefore my people shall know my name: therefore they shall know in that day that I am he that doth speak: behold, it is I. 7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth! 2 Corinthians 6:1-2 KJV 1 We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. 2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.) Romans 10:1-3 KJV 1 Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. 2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. Romans 10:13-17 KJV 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14 *How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?* 15 *And how shall they preach, except they be sent?* as it is written, *How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!* 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. *For Esaias saith,* Lord, *who hath believed our report?* 17 *So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.* Nahum 1:7 KJV 7 The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and *he knoweth them that trust in him.* Hebrews 3:15 KJV 15 *While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.* Isaiah 52:11 KJV 11 *Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing;* go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the Lord. John 14:15 KJV 15 *If ye love me, keep my commandments.*

"New Heaven" and "New Earth" are S-Y-M-B-O-L-I-C , Almighty God has said the earth and Heaven are eternal, they will stand forever. (Psalm 104:5) He has established the earth on its foundations; It will not be moved from its place forever and ever. (Psalm 78:69) He made his sanctuary as enduring as the heavens, Like the earth that he has established forever. In the Bible, the term “heavens” can also refer to other ruling powers that are exalted or lifted up above their subject peoples. The very dynasty of Babylonian kings that Nebuchadnezzar represented is described at Isaiah 14:12 as being starlike, a “shining one, son of the dawn.” . The connection of the “heavens” with ruling power aids in understanding the meaning of the expression “new heavens and a new earth” found at Isaiah 65:17; 66:22 and quoted by the apostle Peter at 2 Peter 3:13. Observing such relationship, M’Clintock and Strong’s Cyclopaedia (1891, Vol. IV, p. 122) comments: “In Isa. lxv, 17, A NEW HEAVEN AND A NEW EARTH SIGNIFY A NEW GOVERNMENT, GOD'S KINGDOM, RULING OVER A NEW "EARTH" OR SOCIETY OF RIGHTEOUS PEOPLE.”

As you have pointed out, knowing the Hebrew meaning of various words and the historical traditions of the Jews can completely change our interpretation of what is being said. KJV uses "mansions" because back when it was written the word mansion commonly meant a room that you live in, a dwelling place - like a bedroom or even a room at an inn. Not too long after that the word developed and changed to mean a larger house that a lord or important person lived in (the similar term "manor" comes from the same root word) and as a result "mansions" in the KJV has caused some confusion. But, the word actually fit what the original Greek was saying, the meaning of which Brandon explained in the video, back at the time it was translated.

Pray - and by Pary I mean do more listening than talking. Get away from gadgets and go somewhere alone - private, wilderness or a closet if your in a city, or a back alley. Physically take on the posture of a servant who worships a God. Get on your knees and put your forehead on the ground - I don't care if it's raining - go do this - position yourself before God and cry out loudly to him with your voice - and then wait upon Him. He will be there. Ask and He will answer. Do this often.

So here's a thought I'd love for you to think about: in the context of the Bible there are two ways to understand time: Chronos (chronological) and Kairos (an 'opportune' time, when everything comes together etc.). If God reigns over time (since He created it) then I've been thinking - when somebody dies, they're just propelled to the end of the chapter, where God has restored and united a perfect earth and heaven. A unification, where we all get to return to a new Eden (whatever that may look like). You see, we often think when somebody close to us dies, they will just be on the 'other side' waiting for us. But why would waiting be something that exists in death? That's torture (at least for most of us). If God controls time, I imagine it's like an awesome back to the future scenario, where we all kind of come together in God's presence, all at once. What do you think? Would love to read some wholesome replies to this. (And please don't come with end-time theology, it's not what this was about!). 😉🙂

How would you apply Abraham's Bosom and Sheol in to your question?. Because what you are asking is already answered. And as fanciful as your answer to your own question is - there is definately a timeline in Revelation Prophecy - denoting times for certain things to take place in the 'heavenly' realms. Hades is not Hell, nor the Lake of Fire. Hades is simply 'the abode of the dead' analogus to Sheol, where those who were covered by the blood of sacrifice in anticipation of Christ were those released, and whereupon we shall dwell until the resurrection. Eternity is not the absence of time - but is the culmination of time created. Torture? Waiting? I fear you are one of those who are scared you will be 'bored in heaven'.

I watch and read about many Near Death Experiences. I read about and also know people who have gotten to go to “heaven”. All seeing it as a place. Or their loved ones who passed away. Some examples are Sid Roth and Jesse Duplantis. The time thing is irrelevant. Time as we know it God invented to help us mark events or history in a relative reference to when or how long ago.thus the BC and AD and the calandars etc. it’s marked off according to the revolutions around the Sun, degrees and lunar stuff. There is none of that in heaven. “His light” lights it up not a sun. And there is no night. All run by the above mentioned. Time is a fun concept to ponder. Look at time traveling entertainment. Or our dream of turning it back to experience youth again. But I don’t think it’s a thing in Heaven.

The kingdom of God is at hand. Every thought, every feeling, every scientist every religious person, every book ever written, it's all taken place right here. It's heaven, it's earth, and it sometimes is hell. The seed that Jesus Christ, our king sowed with His sacrifice has grown and is growing into the family of God. Once all of us comprehend this well, heaven will forever be our home.

The way I've always understood it from the Holy Spirit is that, The Kingdom of Heaven and the Kingdom of God are two different things. Kingdom of Heaven is the place of Heaven itself. Kingdom of God is not speaking of the place Heaven, but the Spirit of God so to speak. It's what we all experience when the Holy Spirit dwells within us. When we are saved, changed, & truly walking with and following Jesus because we love him, it literally is God's heart and many will never see it and few will. It is not God's place but a place in God.♥️

The old heaven and the old earth will be pass away, that means dead! The new earth will need no sun or moon because the glory of God is sufficient, because the new earth will need no external light source(no sun, no moon) the heavens will not provide it (new heaven)

as you said, we are going to sheol when we die. so that's exactly where we are going. That is where we wait for the resurrection. Whether it be the first or the second. Which is precisely why we do not go to heaven when we die. Because again, as you said, heaven will come down here. That is why Jesus will return, the first resurrection happends, and Jesus will establish a physical reign here on earth for a thousand years along those he will receive to himself. Which will also be a thousand years of peace. Then after this, the second resurrection. and so on, until the new sky and earth will be made and none of the first will be brought to remembrance. My point being, we are not going to heaven when we die. We are instead all going to that same place when we die; sheol.

I hope your skepticism is strong enough to investigate the many contradictions, absurdities and outright lies of the NT. I'll start you off. In Matthew 21.1 he has jesus riding on two donkeys. "he put a cloak on them and he sat on them'. Mark, Luke and John all say one donkey. This is not a simple typo. Matthew very clearly fudged Zechariah 9.9.

@@GEES44DC There are at least a hundred such contradictions in the NT as well as a great many outright lies. "christianity" hasn't even got jesus birthday right. December 25 is a clear sop to the pagans of Rome. Coptic "christians" celebrate it in January. jesus was not even born in Bethlehem. The so-called return to birthplace Roman census is complete nonsense. Easter wanders all over the calendar and there is no consensus among the faithful. If jesus is a son of David then virgin birth is impossible. I'll stop now, but if you let your credulity outgrow your skepticism then your religious faith will have to gloss over all of its lies.

@@rf7477 thankyou for your comment. What i know for sure is Jesus came to earth fully man and fully God. To die for my sins so i can be saved. As long as i believe in that im good. @@lorriepeek5636 The NT has so many contradictions and outright lies that it can be given almost no credibility. Jesus is said to be an educated jewish man. The fact that he roamed the so called holy land for several years but never wrote a single word is highly suspicious. In fact we know almost nothing about him. The liars who wrote the NT decades after jesus death very clearly put words into his mouth. If jesus was jewish he most certainly would not have preached hell. The various stories about his birth, life, persecution, death and resurrection are absurdities. For example, Herod was dead when jesus was born. It is claimed the the jewish priests arrest jesus during passover. That is utter nonsense. Jewish priests did not arrest jewish men during the holiest jewish festival. Very clearly jesus did not die. You can't kill a god and thus his 'sacrifice' is meaningless. Since god is omniscient then he knew the whole thing in advance. A ridiculous charade. The bible has not been thoroughly scrutinized until it was written in English. The bible scholar John Mill found 30,000 variations in the translations. The OT is just a rehash of older myths. If you find the bible difficult to understand then you should engage your own healthy skepticism. god has not blessed anyone, ever.

Good video, and that from an atheist. First I've seen. While you were educating Christians about Sheol, you might have mentioned that the other three words translated to the pagan word for "Hell" are equally misunderstood. Perhaps having done a video about Heaven, perhaps you can do one on the Christian hell. My but don't Christians love them some Hell! Sheol is described well in Ecclesiastes. Hades and Tartarus are Greco-Roman paganism. What are they doing in the NT? Homer's Iliad and Odyssey will tell you all about them. Many Christians insist that Sheol and Hades are the same, but they are quite different. Hades is the brother of Zeus and Poseidon. Unlike Sheol, Hades is a place of punishment, with Tartarus at the bottom level. Why is paganism in the NT? Gehenna was mentioned most frequently by Jesus. It was a real place in the Valley of Hinnom near Jerusalem, where early Israelites sacrificed first-born to Yahweh or Moloch, depending on who you ask. As the town dump, things thrown into it burned up and were destroyed. There was nothing eternal about it. Jews of the time would have understood Jesus was speaking metaphorically. The worst insult for a Jew was to be thrown into Gehenna to burn up, rather than be afforded a decent burial. The Catholic Church tortured the concept of eternal, conscious torment out of Gehenna and other scripture, but when you read carefully, you find that Hell and its fires are eternal, but humans are consumed, burned up, destroyed. Per John 3:16, we "perish" if we don't believe the right things. To perish is to die, which means to go to Sheol and be permanently unconscious, i.e. DEAD. The only way we are eternally punished is by being denied eternal life - but who cares! We will be dead. As I understand it, during Jesus' time they were debating whether one was dead forever in Sheol, or whether there would be a final judgement. Those who went with judgment said Yahweh would wake everyone up, judge them, and reward the good with a renewed Earthly paradise. The bad would be destroyed, or basically made dead again (the second death). Judgement was to be based on deeds, and the life you lived, not what you believed or failed to believe. We didn't get the "good news" of eternal, conscious torment for not believing the right things until the Catholic Church kindly tortured the scripture to give it to us. Understanding that Hell is manufactured can start to remove some of the FEAR that comes from Christian extortion: believe or burn. Once the FEAR falls off, critical thinking kicks in, and the house of cards often collapses, sometimes slowly, sometimes quickly. I don't see how Christianity can survive without the FEAR.
