It's a good start. Arrowhead II should have original Arrowhead design cues, have a retractable roof, and be capable of hosting a SB and Final Fours.

Kansas City, KS is going to "finance" a $1.5 billion dollar domed football stadium for 8 games a season max when K.C. "fans" have repeatedly failed to "sell out" home PLAYOFF GAMES if it they could watch at home instead? Yeah. Rignt. Hell a significant number of Chiefs fans live in NEBRASKA and Kansas and Kansas State combined haven't managed to make Kansas any more of a football state than it was the last time the Chiefs were going to be "good for Kansas" which was when the team was created. Having a dome for the Chiefs is an absolutely retarded and you may as well just sew $1.5 billion in small bills together and drape that over Arrowhead. Not to mention "Magic Mahomes" would get absolutely owned more often than not in a "dome". But of course he'll be retired before a new stadium is built anyway even if it's done "by 2030" when his "billion dollar contract" supposedly "retires". Kinda scary isn't it? His next Super Bowl shot will be in 2025 meaning the "GOAT apparent" has only 6 seasons left max to win 4 more "rings". I think lots of Chiefs fans and Mahomes worshippers started figuring that out last season when it took a Wild Card to make the playoffs, there were no "big wins" to pad the point total, the PPG average was yet again in the veey low 20s, it was another season of SEVERAL GAMES WORTH OF QUARTERS MAHOMES WAS "SHUT OUT" IN, MULTIPLE GAMES HE WAS "SHUT OUT" IN 2 OR 3 QUARTERS, THERE WERE 5 TIMES AS MANY 3S AND 6S IN THE BOX SCORES AS 7S AND 14S AND YET AGAIN THE "GOAT" FAILED TO "LEAD THE LEAGUE" IN ANY MAJOR STATISTICAL CATEGORY AND MULTIPLE "RUNNING TEAMS" WITH VERY YOUNG AND INEXPERIENCED QBS PUT TOGETHER WAY MORE "BALANCED" GAMES AND SEASONS STATISTICALLY AND K.C. WAS "MIDDLE OF THE PACK" IN POINTS PER GAME. THEN THERE'S THE LOSS TO DENVER IMMEDIATELY AFTER MAHOMES MEDIA INFLUENCERS FINALLY CAME UP WITH ANOTHER MAHOMES "RECORD" AND WERE LAUGHING ABOUT THE CHIEFS BEING 12-1 AGAINST K.C. @@insideoutsideupsidedown2218 it wouldn't be that big of a loss for KCMO. The crowds that travel into KC for the Chiefs will still be landing at KCI. They'll still be staying downtown, eating and drinking there because KS is pretty lame for night life. There is a lot more gameday money than just what happens at the stadium.

It's a scare tactic. Hunt already said that the Royals will no longer be attached to the Chiefs stadium situation. They made a calculated error trying to help the Royals using the Chiefs success. They screwed that one up.

The way the potential bill was written included things that had nothing to do with the Chiefs stadium like, taking money away from parks and other things to fund the Royals. 2031 is a the deadline. They will come up with something else. Like many, the state legislature will get involved and They will include surrounding counties.

@@ThePeanut999 Most of what I heard was that people didn’t want it in the arts district, didn’t like the Chiefs renovations, and didn’t think they should pay for it. Everyone gets their vote and it was heard. I think that’s probably why they are moving forward elsewhere, they are just respecting the people’s vote.

@@infinitedraught1336 yeah that was another biggie was where they wanted the new Royals stadium to go. Most people think it was just a tax thing but KC residents have been paying that for years anyways so it wasn't so much a tax increase as an extension on the previous tax increase. Either way as long as the Chiefs stay around here within driving distance I'm fine with wherever they decide to put the stadium.

Community Reinvestment Act this act was signed in 1978 by then President Jimmy Carte encouraging Bank to purchase Federal Reserve Bonds in order for people residing in these areas to have access to buying power and also stimulate and subsidize their tax base. Banks have not done this they have sold these Bonds at low interest rates to developers for investment in more affluent areas. because the Bonds are considered subsidies they can be p by out at low interest rates but what happens is the poor areas are stuck paying back the interest on these Bonds. keeping these areas in a cycle of debt with nothing to show for it. If all the Counties like the Royals and Chiefs why not a bi-state tax.and why not keep the Royals where they are and build new stadiums in the same area.

I agree with the replies above. It was not a new tax. It would have been an extension of an existing tax of 3/8 of 1%. In other words, it’s about a penny for every $3.00 you spend. If you want to cut your spending, stop smoking (everything) and complain to your cell phone provider about their obnoxious fees.

I think the team supported the sales tax option for renovation because if they had pursued the northland option, it would have moved forward. I believe Hunt sees more dollar signs by moving to Kansas.

The money for a new stadium would come from the poor areas of Kansas and Missouri using bond money intended for the under the community investment act. Most affluent areas mainly in Johnson z county hate higher taxes so ho will a new stadium be built using bond money deposited in banks intended for poor areas of Kansas and Missouri.

So once again, Democrats on both sides of the state line are screwing the poorest of the poor. Keep in mind this is after Joe Biden raised our taxes on people under $40,000 a year after he made multiple promises he would not. But as usual politicians screw over the poorest people, because they can’t fight back. Then they’ll make promises to those poor people that they damaged, that they will make their lives better somehow. They never deliver on this. Democrats in the Kansas City area and surrounding towns have wasted trillions of dollars in the last 20 years. You can’t drive down the street without hitting a pothole, you can’t ride a bus after 10 PM because all of the routes have been canceled due to budget cuts, you can drive through the ghetto anymore, without being afraid that a flying bullet will hit you, one of the safest areas in town was Brookside, now it is known for the high crime, stores getting broken into, people getting robbed while leaving dinner, people getting carjacked in the parking lot, and multiple restaurants have been robbed multiple times after the power has been cut each and every time. The police always respond one hour and 30 minutes after the robberies. But please media, keep focusing on a stadium that will cost billions of dollars by time they are done from the poorest of the poor.

Unlike many other stadiums like Chicago, Buffalo, Tennessee, and many MLB teams, want their stadiums to look like too much is happening, and would cost many people in the region more taxes, this would to, but it would not be as much as its just adding windows and a roof, and a few hotels, as others are creating too much.

So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbye. Had they waited a year or two before starting this nonsense and given us a little time to forget how bad our own County screwed us in property taxes last year then they might have gotten what they wanted out of Jackson County. Any good sports team should be able to read the opposing team, and they both failed at it this time. Jackson County's idea of extending an existing tax with no defined structure except 'appease the sports teams' was so bad that the County Executive didn't even support it. Kansas City further irritated people by rapidly deciding that they wanted the Stadium near the Downtown area no matter what happened to the existing businesses or residents. Sorry to sound like a downer, but this was played very poorly and the teams are reaching out their hands for more, more,and more when a good percentage of the Jackson County population was already upset with the County Government and don't trust them. To be fair, there were other reasons, but none of them had enough push behind them individually to have swung the vote to turn down the tax extension - it took phenomenal hubris on the part of the teams and the County Government to make this happen.

How many colder weather climates get a Super Bowl often even with a dome? Yes, they do get a Super Bowl. But, most colder climates in February with a dome may have hosted one. The Super Bowl circuit will always favor warmer climate to attract fans from all over who also want to enjoy outdoor activities. There is not a lot of lost revenue by not hosting a Super Bowl. Also, go count the number of Super Bowl champion teams that play under a dome in the regular season.

This is the same problem with the Missouri side. The stadiums are out in the open. The city needs to be wrapped around it. Stadiums in cities slow down everything outside. Put the stadium closer to the city WITHOUT the traffic.

KC does not have the public transportation infrastructure to not be in the middle of a giant parking lot. Plus the culture is tailgating. Dallas stadium sucks because it doesn't have parking.

Look at Optus stadium in Perth West Australia….on corner of river, freeway (for buses) and Train. 15min to airport. No one is allowed to drive. Even Ubers can only drop at foot bridge to the stadium across the river. All tickets included public transport. It all works smoothly. Activates the city. MCG in Melbourne is similar does have a little bit of parking. The journey there is part of the game atmosphere. These car parks are crazy. The shuttle bus routes where people get off near there homes the restaurants and bars busy after the events. Activating these areas too.

@@Outrjs so did we…I remember school friends who lived near the big stadiums telling us how much pocket money they’d make selling spaces on their front lawns. Whole suburbs would fill up with the overflow of cars. Now it seems weird why you’d want to catch an Uber and miss the fun of the buses & trains. And it’s so efficient as no gridlock leaving. The shuttles are quicker than driving on a normal day, Yes there was a few months of teething problems as people got used to the best shuttle bus route from where their season ticket seat is or train but it’s sooo much better and the rest of the city is unaffected by the traffic of big events. Robbie Williams had a old school location concert that you had to drive to and the city imploded not knowing how to function with a driving model. The consensus was that people only wanted to only go to the free transport events from now on.

They're gonna have to steal a lot of land (via eminent domain) if they want to build on that NE corner of the interstate intersection, especially after all those existing companies have invested millions to build there, and that's been very recent in the grand scheme of things. If the Royals are going to move, why not just tear down their old stadium and build the new Chiefs arena in that spot? Funny how the winds blow when your local (private) sports team is doing good. I'm sure this would have been a much different discussion if the Royals were consistently playing in the World Series and the Chiefs were back to seasons of mediocrity.

When they built the Arizona Cardinals Stadium in Glendale, AZ. it was surrounded by Farm Land. Today you wouldn’t recognize the area. Unbelievable growth with businesses, you wouldn’t believe that a Football Stadium would contribute this much to the economy. Here they used tax dollars for the Stadium and received a Gold Mine in tax revenue from Expanding Businesses, Hotels, Entertainment, Restaurants, Amusement Facilities, Apartments and Houses. 😊😊😊😊😊

Because voters turned it down by a huge margin. I would imagine from the Chiefs and Royals perspective, it would be really risky to go back to the table and risk another vote which would probably be shot down again. I think they lost by 16 to 17 percent? I think they want to maximize their efforts and go somewhere they know won't get voted down and can hopefully still stay in the area. I don't see Jackson county supporting the Chiefs or Royals, I mean it just literally wasn't even close.

No way. Put that stadium in Kansas. Just put a roof over Arrowhead and we're good. Don't mess up things that are good. No reason to put it out there. It's way to far and when there are violent storms. People have further to drive to get back to KC then in Missouri. Also why should we pay Kansas taxes for tickets and merchandise and also give Kansas/ Missouri revenue. No way citizens don't vote for this. Keep Arrowhead where it is. Just build a retractable roof like in Arizona. Don't touch a piece of greatness that Arrowhead is. No way. No way. No way.
