The big question now, what next for Deontay Wilder? Will he continue, will his pride let him retire, or will he hang it up after successive losses where he has not performed. If he stays on, what can he do differently, is a trainer change needed or does he simply need a better style match up?

He’s goooone. Completely rinsed. He didn’t have the greatest resume, limited ability but boy did he provide some of the best one hitter quitters in all of boxing; Long, Price, Breazeale, Firtha, Szpilka, Liakhovich, Stiverne, Ortiz, Arnold, Harrison, Alexander, Hellenius all salacious KO’s but if you can’t fire you’re only weapon time to get out before he becomes the body on his record he’s always talked about.

I'm glad that didn't happen but almost expected Wilder to get killed in the ring in one of those classic ironic universe moments. It happens, look at Conor Mcgregor. He was spouting crap about putting Dustin into hospital and smashing him into retirement, then his own leg horrifically folds in bits come fight night and ends up in hospital himself effectively retired from the sport for good.

There's 1 reasonably decent name in that lot. When your first 30 odd fights are against such poor opposition you're bound to have some highlight reel knock outs. A very bloated record of a very protected boxer.

@@hatchi11 He had a few extra tomato cans no doubt, but he also started very late. I think you're overestimating how impressive other resumes are. The guys on his resume were many of the contenders of his era. Look at AJ or Fury's resume. Not full of world-beaters either (maybe a washed up Klitschko). Even look at a boxing God like Mike Tyson. Who are the elite fighters on his resume? Holyfield? (Loss x 2), Lennox Lewis? (loss). He plowed through a very weak post-Larry Holmes era and fought a ton of "world beaters" like frank Bruno lol. Sorry but Wilder's resume on balance is pretty normal.

@@shadowsayer1516klitchko was managed by shelly so that fight was easy to make but after wilder won the WBC belt shelly said "he's not fighting klitchko cos he's a baby champ.". As a champ you should fight the best and try to unify but he/his team chose puddings. He ducked aj, klitchko, whyte, ruiz, povetkin, etc. Fury was a cherry pick gone wrong cos he was on the come back and was so out of shape. AJ has the best names on his record and the names that aren't on it ducked him. Parker has the second best. Fury has ducked lots of fighters too.

It's sad to lose such an exciting fighter and phenomenal one-shot puncher but as we saw against Parker and then confirmed beyond all doubts against Zhang, clearly Wilder was gone when he stepped out of the ring after that 1st round KO of Robert. It would have been great for the old Wilder to returned and with the Saudis there's no better time, but no, he's done unfortunately. At least his last 2 fights in which he discovered he was shot were against top active HWs and he got a very good "retirement package" even featuring his last fight as the main event and a team captain. His legs weren't under him from round 1 against Zhang. No coordination, no fire, nervous looking... it just wasn't the old cocky killer we knew but at least in the last round he actually had enough of himself and just started letting his hands go.

Who ever in Team Wilder approved him to face Joseph Parker after only having one professional round against Helenius in two years should be fired and than to follow that up with a 280lb killer like Zhang makes it even worse. Compare this to AJ's run of B and C level comeback fights against Franklin, Helenius, Wallin and Ngannou, all off whom Wilder would have knocked out and looked good against unless he was completely shot.

@@BoxingSquared Wilder vs. AJ was all I ever wanted from this era. But... do we really want to see it now? It was sad enough watching Wilder completely helpless with no game plan and completely out of his depth in every fight since his draw. We can even pin point the moment he realised that his power wasn't going to carry him anymore. His body language and the pure fear on his face in every fight since Fury 2 is just sad to see. My own stupid opinion is that unproven fighters need to at least best Chisora (the Gatekeeper) if you want to go on to challenge the top 10. And to be honest, I see Chisora smashing him exactly the same way Zhang did. At least he will get a free post fight cheese burger. I was never a fan of Wilder, but I couldn't help draw comparisons with my favourite fighter, Julian Jackson - still I enjoyed and PPViewed all his fights and so for that I think we can all thank him for the entertainment he brought to the scene. Good video man. I think what people have to understand is after multiple views of Wilder's last couple fights is that he cracked Parker and Zhang with the same shots that knocked out Ortiz and Helenius. It's just that nothing happened and they didn't look like big shots because when he landed them on legitimate opposition nothing happened but they landed! He was never really the puncher that his PR team made him out to be.

If he continues, drop malik scott. He was never right for wilder, too much friendship between them, rediculous training routines. Silly game plans. Malik didnt even check on wilder after zhang popped him, malik scott ran to zhang and his trainer and hugged them and smiled, didnt check on wilder first. Thats a bad corner man. If wilder continues, he needs a no nonsense trainer, a coach that tells him straight, and coach that utilises his strengths which is pretty much setting up that right hand and that long reach. Its entirely up to "His Excellency" and how much money he wants to throw at him. He has no place at the top level which is clear to see. If his ego allows him to keep losing well thats up to him but those close to him need to protect him now more than ever, even more so when they were protecting him when he held that green Mickey Mouse belt.

He is free to do with his life as he wishes however I would strongly advise that he retires immediately. Probably retirement is next but who knows. Depends how bad the Saudis want to see Wilder versus Anderson I guess. The thing is, boxers have kind of figured Wilder's right hand out a bit, Zhang did the same combos Ortiz did but Zhang slipped away from the right hand while Ortiz for whatever reason slipped towards it and paid the price. I'd love to see Wilder fight Anderson to be honest and I'm not sure who I'd favor there. Not sure if Anderson has the ability to slip that right hand or not.

Deontay Wilder should not retire just yet. Instead, he should aim to redeem himself in one final fight and then gracefully retire. This would give him the opportunity to secure a good payday and end his career on a high note. After that, he can enjoy a well-deserved retirement and bask in the sunset of his achievements.
