This video is different than any other of my videos. I open up about something that has been weighting on me for a long time.
Is erasmus really the best time of your life? Most interesting part about erasmus is that each experience is so so so different and yet we always talk about it as something that is same for everyone. I don't know if that made sense but accepting the fact that erasmus in Madrid will be much different than my erasmus in Zagreb was very hard for me. Even if it seems silly I was spending time in my head and thoughts too much and it lead me to many sad days.
Now I am totally over it, I am happy and grateful! I promise my next video will be more optimistic and get you excited for your exchange!

I'm in Barcelona right now and I just want to come back home. It is my first time abroad and I've wanted this for so long, I've worked for this and I expected it to be perfect. Now all I see is the people around me not inviting me to stuff, I meet new people but it seems to never go past small talk, guys just try to talk to me because they want to hook up with me, and I miss my friends at home so much.

Thanks for sharing such a beautiful video and genuine feelings. I find myself wanting and searching for those deep connections with new people but can never seem to find any. Social media definitely made me think I was unsocial, but I’ve realized it’s also normal to have 3-4 friends (and I’ve lived in one country my whole life haha). I still want connections but like you said, no expectations ☺️

Oh i know what being disappointed when the reality does not match the expectations and being fixated on it. But what it really does is ruining what you have and a lot of times you only recognize it afterwards. So thank you for sharing this. Love from Germany❤️

Kudos for being so real, most of the time it's so easy to compare things to the better version of them but we rarely compare it to how worst could it be, gratitude goes a long way in keeping you grounded and grateful! Happy times Lasma :)

Thank you for always being so real! everybody here on youtube seems to only talk about the best parts of their experiences but you are doing the right thing. I’m about apply to Erasmus in Madrid for the next semester so your videos have been a huge help to me. I hope you have even better days and remember that the people who don’t want you don’t deserve your time or your care. Finding a small group of friends that truly care about you is much better than a large group that cares little about you. Looking forward to your next videos :)

Respect for sharing your true story!!! It was a warning reaction from your soul that you are on wrong way. I was an "erasmus mentor" and I saw that its not the "time of their lives" --- euphoria and reckless partying in the first weeks and homsickness and depressive moods later. Superficial friendships, some meaningless lectures in a semester, too much freetime, culture shock.... I didnt have a chance to take part in Erasmus but thinking back it was better this way. I think the "Erasmus Experience" wont inprove ones personality - its just a big illusion that something great is happening , you dont have to prove aníthing, no real responsibility just spending your parents money.

Wow... for the first half of the video I was thinking "After the video has ended, the first thing I'll be writing into the comments is to delete Instagram", but then I've reached the end of the video and I was so glad for the action you've taken. Thank you very much for this video, it really helps: in a few months I'll be in Erasmus too (hopefully) and I'm continuously watching videos about wonderful past Erasmus experiences in the city where I'll be (because I'm so excited), obviously increasing my expectations, but you helped me to remember that my experience will not be theirs and I mustn't compare my journey to others, so mucias gracias 🤗

I'm here in Madrid too and I feel lucky too, but somehow we always think there is someone who is 'enjoying more' just because he or she post more stories on Instagram for example. I really appreciate you sharing this part of your experience because as a retiree in the US I'm planning a month-long exploratory trip to Valencia next month and need to keep in mind, during this trip and during a possible future relocation, that what you see on KZfaq and IG are other people's experiences and that mine may be quite different and that I should keep my expectations in check. The saaame. From 30 second. I have absolutely the same problem. Aaaaa.... it is so awful. I now in Japan as exchange student, for 6 month. When I only arrive first 3 month I was like "why I don't travel enought?", "I should be there, but not just sit in my apartment", "I have such chance, I cannot lose a second of beening here!". And all leads to vary bad feelings. I understand you and it is so terribly. But I, may be, found a solution for, so if smb is interested, please free to ask

im currently doing my erasmus and im hating my experience... i feel so lonely and i really want to go back to my country... im sharing an apartment with two friends that i met in my first year of school and i think the friendship is ending and im really hating living with them and travelling with them, but i also have no one... im hating everything and now i dont know if i should schedule my flight for earlier than i already scheduled or just accept that first schedule and try to travel, but travel with who??? i have no one... and idk if i should (or even if i could) travel alone...

In my first erasmus in Croatia all classes were online and I had the best time of my life! So I think you should still go and see - I'm sure it can still be an amazing experience

Hey, well, some universities cancelled erasmus this year so maybe it's the case :(
