I will give you the best advice you will ever get... it may not be the Alps or the Himalayas or any of the well known mountains but do NOT underestimate Scottish mountains and how quick the weather can change to zero visibility.

I have a few tips.... Remember people actually live here & that we need to use our roads for getting around.. Do NOT get in my bloody way on the single track road through the Torridons.. Or cycle two abreast while dressed in black without lights & then refuse to get out of my way on ANY road I drive on.! Please stop renting massive camper vans from Inverness & then driving them on the tight roads round my village... (Especially if you have trouble parking your little city car in an empty Tesco car park... You will hit another identically baffled camper rentee... Most likely right in front of me.!!!) Stop treating my driveway entrance as a convenient place to park... Stop using my rubbish bins, the council only empty them every fortnight.. On the topic of rubbish.. TAKE IT HOME WITH YOU... IT'S YOURS.!! .... .... .... .... .... Enjoy your holiday around Kinlochewe.... While staying out of my way. 😉

If you are driving slowly and you have vehicles behind you, pull in at a passing place and allow them to overtake. Selfish driving causes frustration and can lead to accidents. It’s part of the Highway Code, check it for yourself.

All those barren open spaces are only about 150-200 years old, they used to be completely forested with all sorts of vegetation and wildlife. Its completely unnatural and is essentially the worlds largest graveyard. The pendulum had begun to swing the other way, in the form of first re-wilding and then re-peopling.

The statement of what weight not to take is a ridiculous statement! I take up to 22kg in large backpack in winter. Why can I do this, because one I am used to it, and two because I am a large guy and strong at 62 years old. Each person individually knows his ability and strength, and endurance. Take what is comfortable for you on a long hike and mountain camp. Hear this all the time and it is a misnomer from the get go!
