Well it depends haha because every guy is different. So, to be basic anyone who can find beauty of admiration in the little things. Someone who likes reading or at least supports it. One who wants to explore the unknown. And of course, he has to be a gentleman who wants to talk with their partner. :) And if he does anything for someone, be it a small thing or a big thing, that also counts. However, I prefer the little things because they speak so much more:) What about you? What is your consideration of 'romanticism?' Thank you for the question, by the way! :D

The gate keepers: social status and jealous women! Just because she’s a relative doesn’t mean aunt isn’t envious of a self assured woman who radiates self-respect and relies on a foundation of messy loving imperfect family. Charlotte wants her nephew to want her, so to speak, not a woman who walks (!) to the beat of her own drum, who isn’t bound by society’s rigid misery making rules! No, Miss Elizabeth would rather have the satisfaction of a good book (wonder if Mrs. Charlotte can even read? She’d just have the servants do it!). Status/riches make cold comfort compared to a warm, devoted woman-wife, something Mr. Darcy has been blessed (in disguise!) to discover. 😍

Mr. Darcy isn't the prime example of being romantic. He's not perfect; he's human. And I know he would be very confused if anyone told him how much he affects women.
@asteropea6 жыл бұрын
Rin Lockhart totally agree with this comment. He was never romantic. He was just being himself. And this is exactly what I believe is killing us, a man just being who he is, not pretending to be perfect.
@dcardigan135 жыл бұрын
I know right? He's not perfect; he has his fatal flaws -- but why is he everyone's dream guy? Everyone who watched the movie/read the book, anyway? I ask myself this question every time I replay Pride and Prejudice scenes and search for more. And then I realized, for me, I really really like the idea that I could hold so much power over someone, have so much effect on someone, like Lizzy did over Mr. Darcy. How nice would it be to find a man who just _can't help how he feels_ like how Mr. Darcy couldn't stop himself and his feelings. He's a logical and realistic man, but even so, he just couldn't help how he felt for Lizzy.
@dcardigan135 жыл бұрын
@nene w Oh, I can understand that. Finding out that someone likes you is uncomfortable when you don't really return the feeling. Mr. Darcy is not uncomfortable to watch because there is a spark between him and Lizzy, so we know he has a chance of winning her heart. And even though he was rejected, and he still persists, he's somehow not creepy?? I guess it's because he still keeps his distance, asks permission and respects her wishes. He doesn't push, and that is very charming. On the other hand, if it's someone you truly don't like or don't have any feelings for, being pushy or persistent, it's really really bothersome.

You guys all (hilariously so😂 those comments made my day) agree that he was about to propose but I don't think that was the case at all. In the book you see, this scene (and in the movie) happens after Elizabeth tells him that he should take his aunts advice and practice when he tells her he's not good at conversing with people. So here, he (very cutely so) takes her advice and tries to practice making a conversation with *her*. And she understands that which is why she's very amused yet shocked at the same time that he followed her words. It just shows how adorable (and whipped lol) he is.

I love this scene so much! The awkwardness is so sweet. The book was pretty different, though, he came in and all that but ended up talking to her for ages even after he realised that she was the only one there until Mrs Collins came back, but I get that this works better for a movie :)

"What have you done to poor Mr. Darcy?" "I have no idea." When I was a young man, I remember how the sudden presence of a woman with whom I was attracted quite literally would take away my breath. Most had no idea of this ability on us defenseless males. This scene certainly rings true to me and was acted wonderfully.

OK BUT WHEN MR. DARCY ENTERED WHY DID THAT SHOT LOOK LIKE A SCENE FROM THE OFFICE
@maraflores18279 жыл бұрын
This scene is amazing and Matthew´s performance is superb, sublime, look at him , his face, eyes, the body language, he doesn´t need words to expresse all he feels... Matthew is wonderful, magnificent, perfect and of Course The mr. Darcy, the only one and the one and only... and i don´t need to say that with his superb performance, his magic he erased all the old versions,of course , because we are here and on youtube there are more than one thousand vídeos of pride and prejudice...

+mara flores I watched directors commentary to the whole movie, and when Matthew said "I love you" on the end of the movie director said something like "It would be noticeable if he would've been acting". That killed me. :D Every time I watch this movie I feel miserable, I can't do it no more. :D

+Mikołaj Kapusta Matthew´s performance is really superb, sublime, unique and not only in this scene, in the whole movie,do you know, with all his heart and soul, in all the scenes, and do you know, it´s thanks to Matthew that we have the three i love you in the second proposal, he asked Joe W. the director, let me try, Joe thought it could be too much but of course he loved ... thanks to Matthew we have that epic moment with the three i love you and not only one, amazing isn´t it... and we have Matthew with all his magic, the one and only and the only one Mr.Darcy, really...

I just love the way Keira portraits Elizabeth. She is so sweet in this scene. And so lovely, warm and welcoming towards Darcy when she offers him a seat. This is why I love this version the most - the characters seems more modern in the way they express their emotions and feelings. The characters in the previous versions seems a bit cold and unemotional to me. To me 2005 is the most beloved version.

You know sometimes as a girl I often wonder how pressuring it must be for men to work up the courage for a proposal. I can't even imagine doing it myself.

I think to truly appreciate the romance between these two is by focusing on the facial expressions of Mr. Darcy. His looks of anguish and longing is so well done

Men and women can learn a great deal from Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy. Their genteel world is much needed in our current climate of broken marriages and strained relationships. Austen's literature is fabulous!

LMFAO with this scene... Poor glooves, I feel like they handle a lot of stress between his hands... What a great job did the actor Matthew MacFayden cause you can feel Darcy's akwardness so real...
@fatemah4444 Жыл бұрын
Agree the actor did a great job, from what I remember from the book though he was actually cocky and so full of himself (that Elizabeth would accept him), and not one ounce of awkwardness.
@pvm3363 Жыл бұрын
@@fatemah4444 Well, in the book Mr. Darcy was so proud about himself and his position, but he was not good making acquintances, because he considered other persons inferiors to him. But at the same time, he felt insecure because he didn't know to express correctly woth others, so he was akward in some way... That's why Elizabeth says his conceit and lack of consideration about other feelings was disgusting for her... But that was because he was insecure and he admire that from Elizabeth, she was so full of security
