I have 12 chinchillas divided into 6 nation cages based on bond. I find myself drawn to chinchilla care videos simply to see if anyone is out there giving proper chinchilla information.... I am extremely happy I found your videos. So far the three I have watched have been extremely accurate and you are providing so much helpful information and CORRECT information. I for one am extremely grateful that you are providing accurate knowledge to potential chin owners or for chin owners that may have been misinformed prior to getting their chinchillas because as you probably know there is a vast amount of incorrect information about chinchilla care on the internet... Quick question... what water bottle do you use that fills from the top? I use lixit glass water bottles and i absolutely love them. I have never had any issues with leaking or anything like that... I just like how yours fill from the top. Thanks again for all you're doing!

Wow that is so many chinchillas! I am so jealous and would love to hear about all of them! Haha! Thank you so much! I really appreciate all of your kind words. That is actually one of the reasons why I started creating videos. There is so few good quality videos on chinchillas. So I decided that I could make those videos! Now for the water bottles. I previously got the water bottles from JouetsPets on Etsy: www.etsy.com/ie/listing/559889645/bpa-free-drinking-bottle-with-stainless?ref=shop_home_active_2&crt=1 But the pandemic forced them to stop shipping to the US. So I found a shop called MeowChin on Etsy with a look alike bottle: etsy.me/2VHGhZO These bottles use a stick instead of the ball. So it takes some time for them to get use to it but I have been able to make the switch on all of my chinchillas.

I absolutely love chinchilla’s. You are so careful and gentle with them. You have found great ways to move them around without terrifying them and making them stressed out. They are pets but still wild and wonderful. Thank you for making this video. I am a corona virus shut in enjoy this kind of video.

Thank you so much! The dust bath method I use just makes the process a lot less stressful for us and them. I do have one chinchilla that is comfortable with being picked up and moved around, but my others will only tolerate it on their own terms. So they definitely prefer I move them this way instead! Haha! Again, thank you so much for the support! I will make sure to come up with some cute content to keep you entertained during the lock down!

I just got a chin that was kind of neglected, he's getting used to me but he just wants out of cage now all the time, in my room 🤣 i watch him 98% of the time 2% while trying to clean cage he bites my doors and baseboards 🤦‍♀️ Getting a new double on Wednesday 👏👏👏 so excited...do you think he will ever chill like yours in cage while I clean it? I love your videos! I no long watch anyone else. For a new owner very hard with so much false information and videos. Feel sorry for some chins 🥲 Thank you again. I read that poplar wood was okay for shelves, please tell me yes lol

It takes quite some time for a new chinchilla to feel comfortable in a new place. All of my chinchillas have gotten use to me cleaning their cage while they are in it, but I have to watch them closely to make sure they aren't getting nervous. It is all about calmness and patience. Poplar wood is a safe option for shelves if you have access to it. You can also use kiln dried pine for shelves as well. Thank you so much for all of the support and I am glad that you can provide a forever home to a rescue chinchilla.

I’m planning on getting a Chinchilla soon and I’m wondering do you take your chinchillas out of their cage to clean it or not? I’m not sure because there’s a risk of them trying to escape while I’m focused on cleaning if I let them roam🤔

So you do this every day? Like I get the water bottles but you wash the fleece everyday and change the bedding everyday too?

Actually no, didn't realize it came off that way! Sorry about that! I wash any fleece every 3 days and I change the bedding/clean the water bottles weekly. I have multiple water bottles that I switch out during the week, and I wait until I have accumulated enough to wash them in bulk. Same with the fleece actually. However, I do spot clean the pee spots out of the bedding daily, as well as sweeping the poop off of the shelves. This video was more of an overview of what needs to be done.

Yes, the ferret nation single unit cage can comfortably house 2 chinchillas! However, she will be getting an upgrade in the future to a double unit.

So I really want a chinchilla and my mom said I could get one if I want one but the only thing is that they can live really long and I’m scared that I’ll get sick of it ANY ADVICE?

I would suggest getting something else. Chinchillas are a big commitment because they can live 10 to 20 years. There are other rodent species that don't live as long. I would try doing some research into other pets to see what fits your lifestyle best.

Critical care? Critical care is primarily used when a chinchilla is refusing their normal food. However, many people will have extra leftover after their chinchillas goes back on food. So to use it all before it expires people will make them into cookies and feed in moderation.
