Let me start by saying I am relatively new to your channel as well as others, i’ve learned that some is more important than others, Bobby I find your channel very informative.I am an O” G who is dealing with cancer and is using the 2019 ruckus to keep my mind off my illness. Could use some sound ideas that would give me a bit more pep and uniqueness without doing a bunch of modifications and breaking the bank. Mainly a bit more speed and takeoff. It seems to me that Honda has made a good product and I would like to make the most out of this scooter. While I have the opportunity , would really appreciate your help.I figure the ruckus is rugged and durable and may even outlast me but I want to have some fun while I am able. I have a car, but as you may know it gets kind of dull driving around locally. Like I stated from the beginning really appreciate what you are doing and keep up the good work. Motor team

So it seems like stock belt seems to be the way to go. I wonder if my Polini Belt is holding me back. I am 6'5" 220 and it seems like the 4.5 gram sliders gets me into the power band, I was hitting the limited fast and going maybe 37-38, got Rolling Wrench CDI and it now pulls pretty good to about 9200-9400, low 40's on the straighta and more on downhills 50 plus. Any opinion on Polini Variator vs NCY Variator with the Telflon coating?
@burnoutbobby
@burnoutbobby 2 жыл бұрын
The polini is the way to go. The Teflon coating comes off in first couple hundred miles. We used to sell the ncy variator and they performed terribly. We couldn’t give them away for free. Personally use the polini with the oem boss and oem belt.

What did you do to get the launch back? Was it just going back to the stock belt, or did you need to throw in some clutch springs to engage at a higher rpm where it made power? Just curious. Top speed mods are great but as a commuter I want to know how how to launch better and have good mid-range too.
@burnoutbobby
@burnoutbobby 5 жыл бұрын
If you are trying to launch better and good mid range you can go lighter in the weights. The polini contra spring may help mid range but I would t do clutch springs.

@@burnoutbobby right now I'm bone stock other than Polini variator, 6g sliders, and blue clutch springs that engage at 5k. From 0-35 it's a pretty constant acceleration, then takes a bit of time reaching up to max. In nice weather I'm cruising between 39-41. It's hit 45 with a tail wind. 210 lb rider. I have a posh CDI, but not installed yet. I'd really like to just tune the stock carb, exhaust, intake, etc. with the above mentioned parts plus the CDI. Not looking at dropping 500 bucks to go 2 mph faster. Would you recommend the MET gears for someone my weight? It would be a dog off the line.

Dry kits are dangerous and don’t work well since you have to have the jetting fattened up which wouldn’t make for a good daily driver. Wet kits are available and safer I’m using one on the drag bike. I’m not sure what the smallest jet they offer is but the company is called cold fusion nitrous

I don’t know if your rpm is correct. You start floating valves at 10,400rpm so you’d be hurting the motor really bad if you’re at 11k

@@burnoutbobby I thought the same thing. First I had a Trail Tech Vapor that I could never get to read correctly no matter the connection method. Using another tach now that seems to read steady. Which tach would you recommend?
@burnoutbobby
@burnoutbobby 2 жыл бұрын
I always use the vapor or tto. On a 49cc you wrap it around the coil 4x and set the gauge to 2ppr. At 200lbs you would need 4-4.5g to hit that rpm unless it’s downhill and wide open. If it’s 11k on the flats I’m pretty sure the rpm gauge isn’t reading right with 5,5.5

The rev limiter is lower on the older ruckus’s. A CDI will help you out more than on a newer ruckus. Top speed is mid 30’s on a stock 2003 because of the rev limiter.

16mm, and before with the NCY variator I had gotten it to 10k on a slight downhill so I backed off a little, but I switched to the polini again with the NCY drive face and that seems to keep my rpm’s down a little also but I have to confirm on the same route to work tomorrow or Saturday.
