I’m Irish and I want to thank all NZ for a phenomenal match. Ireland was making mistakes they shouldn’t have and New Zealand were taking this match more serious which guts me to say to myself. Keep your head up your team is an excellent one with plenty for your fans to cheer about, the way they played is something to be proud of, it's the first time we resigned ourselves to losing as an actual outcome and prepared for it, this team shook our little nation and nz had to stand up which is what happened tonight, we had nothing to lose while ireland had everything to hold onto and we came in with alot less pressure than usual and just wanted to compete and make our jersey proud regardless of the result, it was a great game for the ages and no doubt ireland will be back.

Smith card was harsh in open play by video officials, hardly even a knock forward. Taylor card was lazy/tireness poor execution, he should have subbed with the rest of front row. Ireland didnt learn from South Africa. When South Africa were at their strongest and still losing to NZ, they analysed the data and realised NZ kicked deep into the opposition half and ran less than their style would have you think. AB did that exact same thing tonight. Kick deep and contest the breakdown, gas the opponent to the win.

Exactly what Nz did for the first 20mins with 30 plus phases. They kept the ball tight and then ran it. They made Ire worked for 20mins and ran it another 10mins. By 40mins ire forwards looked gassed. Also I've noticed nz didn't take the sexton bait as other teams do by targeting sexton. Instead they held there lines and smashed Ireland's locks and Flankers before the game line. Then turned the ball over

As an All Blacks fan all I can say is hard luck Ireland, this Irish team is an incredible side and they were incredible today. The players emptied the tank on both sides and threw the kitchen sink at each other. Unfortunately only one of these great teams can move on in the tournament with a bad draw. No shame in losing when the players gave it their all and came within an inch of winning it. I think the key difference was the RWC knockout game experience some of the All Blacks had of winning 2015 and the pain of 2019. I do think the Irish commentators on this show are been too harsh on their team which they should be celebrating the success this Irish team have had. Been number 1 for the last couple of years is nothing to sneeze at.

I think this commentary is a bit harsh. Very small margins in the game & ABs certainly turned up the heat at the breakdown. Some fantastic footage of Sexton with his son after the match. Brilliant that a father can be so strong and magnanimous in defeat and to share that vulnerable moment with a son. He has been a great servant of the game in Ireland & for the Lions. As a very proud Kiwi, given what this team has been through over the last 18months, the faith in Foster is now being repaid, with a team that is building and improving. But as we all know, its just one week at a time and each game on it's merits. Kia Kaha Ireland, a great team and fantastic ambassadors for the game. Well done ABs!

Good to see people giving critical analysis as they see it and separating the emotion from the line of reasoning. Overall, imho: 1. NZ got a good start (essential) going 13 up. 2. Ireland did not convert from their corner kicks made a big difference. 3. NZ did really well to not concede at the breakdown to Ireland as much. 4. Ireland had a few chances eg try chance and Sexton missing a penalty then it's 1pt and a drop-goal might have changed things. 5. NZ showed sheer talent with 3 tries and rapid attack from out deep to go over. Ireland needed position/territory to then grind which as said the 3 corner kicks did not convert. On aggregate NZ showed a bit more ability than Ireland even with 2 yellows but Ireland could still have pipped them it was that close.

I don't think Ireland should be so hard on themselves. That game was a cliff hanger & none more so than at the very end. It could have gone either way. The AB's dug deep when down to 14 players, twice. Ireland scored a try in the first instance but pointless during the second. That was really their moment but it didn't happen. To be fair, it's taken a lot of graft for Ireland to get where it is today, and to have access to the lessons at this level. There are inherent insecurities in us as a people and on the long journey to get here, there's been lots of room for believing in the back of our minds that our insecurities are justified. All the hype about being No.1 team in the world, mixed with all the hype about the AB's being weakened seems an obvious thing to not fall for if you're on the sidelines or learned it in the arena years ago. But this is the first time the Ireland team has really had that lesson put in front of them in a way that it can be actualized. Perhaps I'm way off the mark. I don't know. But this team is at a place where it's earned that spot in the penthouse and can learn at the requisite level.
