I usually use a Gravity Golf (designed by David Lee) Arc Master putter, which requires a more body mass movement. It works for me, but it is comical watching a conventional putter player trying to use it. I have recently fitted a Kotahi grip to my other putters. Once I understood the palm up grip from watching a BJM video, I found a far greater success controlling the putter face using both conventional and arm lock putters. Well worth the cost of the putter grip in my experience.

I've tried pretty much every grip there is out there n only found keep most of my left thumb part on top of the grip make me stroke the ball consistent(I'm a lefty). Also mess around with ball position to match the stroke, it was one of ur video showed me keep the ball a little behind the center did the trick for me. Thank you for all the information in ur video.

I use the Bickler method keeping my trail hand and wrist pulled back and I keep them pulled back. This keeps my hands and wrist from breaking down. I use a Lampkin that is rounded to fit the palm and square on top. Really enjoy your videos.

John, I never used the claw grip but I tried the under grip and all I can say is WOW! What a difference it made in my stroke. My tendency was to slightly have my wrist break down causing me to miss those putts I should be making.. Not bad but not good. I tried the Runyan under grip and almost immediately made better contact with no pushing or pulling. Thank you.

@@misteroneputt after trying your suggestion using the under grip I searched out a Paul Runyan putting video. He was a magician with the putter. What an Amazing pure putting stroke he had. Thanks again.

Hi Mr. One Putt, I am a fan of your channel and have implemented some of your advice. On Monday, I practiced 1 hr. Monday with an under putter grip. Yesterday was league day and using the under hand position I had 33 putts and shot 84. Unfortunately I don’t have stats on earlier play. Obviously I felt my putting needed improvement. The new grip feel really good and I will practice 1 hour today on lag, 4’ and downhill putts. Thanks for your advice and I am looking forward to eliminating 3 putts and making more 1 putts!

Mr. One Putt, thank you very much for your content. I happen to run on it because I was doing some research on the claw grip and was starting to make the transition to that style. I have now stopped. Because of the terminology you used regarding “on top” tendency you let me know that you were aware of the biomechanics & range of motion concepts. I also enjoy your straight talk. My question is this, if one were to buy the HONU putter, does the grip type matter as much? So do you believe that the grip is more about controlling your range of motion versus the putter torque? Thanks again for your content!

Thanks Malachi, I am 100% convinced the putter design controls the putter torque, which is why I love the Honu. The grip simply limits your range of motion...If you were to buy a Honu, any grip will work. I just to put my hands on the putter palms up because that works best for me...Think of it this way: If the putter doesn't torque or twist off line and I grip it in a way that keeps my wrists from rotating into a pull or push, all that's left is speed and line.

I have never seen the palms up grip, I tested it out today on the putting green and like you stated it takes a bit to get used to it but it is starting to feel natural. Has this grip been around for a while or did you create it?

Mr. One Putt, I continue to enjoy your content. You seem to hit on the topics that are of most interest to those who are trying to improve their putting or revisiting them with a different perspective. Thank you. As I have recently learned, putting is a sport onto it’s own within the game of golf. As you know I did purchase a Honu putter with the Kotahi grip. After some trial and error I have chosen to take the Kotahi grip off. It just never felt natural and relaxed, and more importantly I was not putting well. As an “under fold” golfer I have placed a Jumbo Max grip on it and and the Honu putter feels amazing. The initial indoor feedback is that my putting is as accurate and it feels exactly what I was expecting from a centered mass putter and much more natural. I will let you know how it works out in case others are interested.

With this kotahi grip, where do you place your trail index finger? I’ve been putting underhand for a few months but I found that I have more control when I keep my trail hand with palm more facing the target and the index finger along the grip (like you seemed to putt before). Is it the same for you? When I do the test, I remain 100% flush

With the Kotahi grip and using an under style hold on the putter, my trail index finger is wrapped under the putter...If I was using the Kotahi grip with my trail palm facing the target, I'd have my trial index finger pointed down the shaft as I did before I started using the underhand style and changed to the Kotahi grip. If what you are doing is working for you, stick with it. I only made the change because I found it worked better for me.
