Disney and Pixar’s “Turning Red” introduces Mei Lee (voice of Rosalie Chiang), a confident, dorky 13-year-old torn between staying her mother’s dutiful daughter and the chaos of adolescence. Her protective, if not slightly overbearing mother, Ming (voice of Sandra Oh), is never far from her daughter-an unfortunate reality for the teenager. And as if changes to her interests, relationships and body weren’t enough, whenever she gets too excited (which is practically ALWAYS), she “poofs” into a giant red panda! Directed by Academy Award® winner Domee Shi (Pixar short “Bao”) and produced by Lindsey Collins, Turning Red releases on March 11, 2022.

For those of you who didn't already know, 4*Town is a homage to late 90s and early 2000s boy bands, like Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, Westlife, Take That, and more. One member in particular, Tae-young, is a reference to K-Pop. He looks like Jimin from BTS but mixed with Kang Daniel.

Robaire speaks French, so he may be of West African or Central African descent - maybe Guinean or Congolese. He is a reference to singers of African descent, like Mohombi or Jeremie Makiese.

There are so many movies about teen boys ogling over girls, having a female as the main "prize" in the movie. Never a famous movie from the other side even though girls do the same thing obviously, and this just brings me back to acting stupid with friends and I love it..

Exactly what I felt. The movie made me cry bc of how relatable it is. I was then shocked to see how many people gave low reviews to it on imbd. My guess is that men can't get interested in this one movie about teenage girls while we have to sit and pretend that the rest of the stories are universally interesting bc they are from a male perspective.

This scene was just a beautiful chaotic mess to me, and that's a good chaotic! Like the 'he looks like a hobo' and then Mei falls for Devon like right after that and draws him and stuff is just so ironic and funny honestly. Good job on this Disney, Pixar! This movie was super relatable but with it's own little twist, instead of having a panic attack or something Mei turns into a giant red panda when she gets anxious or excited and stuff. And mad props to the fictional boy band you guys created! Like 4 town was a real accurate depiction of early 2000s boy bands and the 3 songs Billie and Finneas wrote were super catchy and well accurate and I can't get it out of my head! Can't wait for the next one!

She's typical hormonal teen, lol. One minute thinking Devon looks a hobo (which to be honest I kind of agree with. Sorry Devon. 😬) to thinking he's hunk after sketching a few suggestive pictures. I suppose I see how Devon is appealing to Mei and her friends as he's an older boy and generally older boys are the objects of affections for younger teen girls who see them as hunky men. Believe me, I've been there crush wise, lol. 😄

The mom wasn’t wrong, she said, why are there called four town when there’s only five of them, you get the idea, I’m so glad that one of the members didn’t turn out to be like Erensto who was kicked out the band years ago and returned for revenge only for Mei and her friends to stop him. I’m glad they went with the idea they actually did! :) 😊

0:04 I personally find it funny that in the Hebrew dub, Miriam was voiced by sapir darmon. Mostly because darmon played a handful of love intrests including katara, Marinette, Fiona (kid vs kat), Wanda and Goldie goldenglow (fairly odd parents), Shizuka minamoto, Frankie Foster, eleanor (ALVINNN!!! and the chipmunks), passion fruit, pinky and Margaret (regular show) .

Then robaire ditches the band in 2005(making 4Town flop ) and he becomes a big pop star featuring with big artists like Usher, and Chris brown, and gets a big meltdown in 2009 after all the alcoholism and pressure from the Record label to be on top.

And the rest of the band continue producing records, without the same success, but still have love for each other. I love the 2015 documentary, where Robaire comes back for a final tour. It was awesome.

Abbya, Prya and Miriam do not have the escalation of emotions as Mei has in the bedroom because they are thirteen years old and a little more accustomed to things not only concerning the family sphere? It seems to me that in one point Priya says precisely that she has pads.
