“Maneater” ❤. I love all her songs, I listen to Folklore, Whoa Nelly, and Loose. I own her debut album 💿⭐️ she may not have fit in during 2012 (possibly due to ageism), but she will most definitely have a renaissance this year. She’s too talented and gorgeous to NOT be acknowledged. Criminally, actually, OFFENSIVELY underrated artist…..please have an emancipation era in 2024 🤞🏾

I always find it interesting when children know what they want to be when they grow up and live their lives pursuing it! And in Nelly’s case accomplishing more than she imagined. This recap truly helped me realize just how influential she was in the music I grew up listening to yet not really knowing the artist. Now I know and am happy to see her in this new chapter of her career!!!

Loose was my first album ever and I often annoyed my dad by blasting the CD from start to finish in his car 😂 Maneater and Promiscuous was on every radio in 2006, my favourite part of her artistry was incorporating her Portuguese heritage in her discography. Versatile singers truly get my blood pumping!

Which is a big fucking shame, because she’s extraordinarily gorgeous and a talented songwriter. People loved her music too much for me to believe she was COMPLETELY overshadowed and I consider her to have main pop girl potential. Sure, Christina, Britney, and Beyoncé are amazing as well, but as much as I love them (especially Britney) I have a stronger emotional connection to Nelly’s music. I’m gonna stay delusional and I’m gonna keep on pretending she’s a main pop girl no matter what. In a perfect world, Nelly Furtado is as big as Britney Spears. But hey, there’s a good trade off though. At least she doesn’t have to be considered “overrated” Side note: tbh, JLo did NOT deserve to be this popular. In my world, Nelly will forever be bigger than JLo can ever be. Jennifer is not talented, she can dance I guess, but Jennifer she’s a Jack of all trades, but a master at none.

I'm completely surprised that you didn't play her most famous song in the intro, "Like a Bird". When that song came out, you couldn't go anywhere without hearing that song on the radio and I personally think that's her best song.

I love her first three albums and I'm happy to own Loose on vinyl, which became ridiculously expensive over the years. I also like her home girl hip hop roots, check out the song she did together with Swollen Members, it's fire.

She is so beautiful and a great singer and those songs were so awesome and still are! I wonder where this kind of genre of songs got lost, everything became some pop and guetta remix now. The beats and songs without even listening to any lyrics and the feel is what I love, never actually even focused on lyrics! (promiscuous girl, maneater, etc...)

because while i love JT and his music, thats a big fish that he wasnt taking down with his "diss". Tim (at the time) was basically punching down, and thats not a shot at Scott Storch thats just the fact, Timbo the king. Nelly was arguably too, although they were at similar popularity during that period, meaning her and Fergie. but JT decided he wanted to try to punch up, and ........ yea no. That was just about when ppl began to slowly start to turn on him too a bit. Like dude, thats PRINCE, stop it. He will eat your career whole. He is the only one that really didnt back track off of all that too.

She might not fit in during the time of Rihanna etc. She’s very diverse so we can’t use that excuse that doesn’t work for me. I can imagine a world tour being absolutely exhausting and I understand they stand to make a lot of money from merchandise, ect but I think that the public has unreasonable expectations. I can’t imagine touring with a young child and the toll it takes. Appreciate your artists but also remember they’re human as well.

Nah. I preferred when her songs were more...whimsical... My favorites are "Turn Off The Light", and "... On The Radio (Remember The Days)". "Força" is also very significant to me as a Portuguese. There's nothing wrong with the direction she took with Loose onward. Her most famous songs come from that album, and i do like them a lot, but every artist that goes in that direction will eventually fall into the trap of over-production, and in time losing their unique identity.
