Panay Railways was 117 kilometers long, included 19 permanent and 10 flag stations and connected the then-towns of La Paz and Jaro (now districts of Iloilo City), Pavia, Santa Barbara, New Lucena, Pototan, Dingle, Dueñas and Passi in Iloilo and Dumarao, Dao, Panitan, Cuartero and Loctugan in Capiz. It reached Roxas City.

The Panay Railway was our way of transportation from Passi City to Quartero & Dao Capiz every time we visit our relatives over there, but when the Aquino Admin took over in 1986 the railway was operationally halted. Panahon ng dating Pangulong Marcos Sr. the Panay Railway was still operational because it transport also sugarcane products during that time. If I'm not mistaken the last time we took a ride withe tain was in 1979....Mabuhay Ka SEFTV best content creator ka para sa akin...KUDOS

The Closure of Panay Railway had nothing to do with Aquino. The PHIVIDEC and PHILSUCOM (Marcos) was the one running the Sugar Industry. The Problem lies with Imelda Marcos. Due to her lavish lifestyle + Multiple Million Dollars Property in Overseas, made Filipino think how does someone like her have that much money when shes only Actress and her job as Minister of Human Settlements only paid her 75,000 Pesos a year from 1976-1986. The Filipino started question where did the money come from when she purchased "40 Wall Street/Trump Building" for amount of $70 Million US Dollar (560 Million Pesos) in 1983 (8 Pesos = 1 Dollar during 1980) .. Her Salary doesn't even come close to that amount.. That why a lot of Company went BANKRUPT and closed down after Imelda/Marcos Sr got caught.. The Panay Railway Company could not pay their Investor so they shut down. Even after Aquino transfer the Panay Railway to another company, The New Owner still could not pay back what they owed, So they have no choice but to shut it down permanently.

Ay sige po 1985 na kung 1985 .... naalala ko lang kasi noong mag snap election diba 1986 yon? ang pagka alala ko may dumadaan pa na tren sa Passi... but any way dahil nagmamagaling ka ano proof na eksaktong 1985 natigil ang operasyon ng tren.... ipakita mo nga... dahil parang affected ka sa comment ko na kung saan ay inaalala ko lang naman ang Panay Railway dahil na experience kung sumakay dyan....@@JustRandomMisterI

Yang Ruins of Lupo sa Altavas, Aklan may malaking Supermarket. At balak daw yatang lagyan pa ng sinehan. Mismanagement ang nangyari dyan at naging waldas daw ang naging caretaker dyan. Taga-Altavas din ako at nakapamili na ako dyan, may free delivery pa kung marami kang napamili.

Ang vlog mo nagpa recall sa akin sa kabataan ko. Ipinanganak ako sa Dao, Capiz on July , 1934. But my parents tranferred to Iloilo City when I was onli 17 days old and they told me we rode on the train the Panay Railways Transit which according to your vlog stopped operation since 1957.Nakakalungkot naman. Correction. Panay Railways stopped passenger operations in 1985 and freight operations in 1989.

It's good you opened that topic about Panay Railway. I remember way back in the early 70's in my younger years I travelled in that railway at least twice from Iloilo visiting Roxas City.

Isang iconic resort Yung ruins of Alcatraz pag natapos yun , ISA pa maganda ang location Kasi katabi Lang sya Ng culasi port of Roxas city, at andyan din malapit Yung light house at ang 7km long na baybay beach with seafoods restaurants and resorts..❤

I left in 1991 mi train pa. Bumalik ako 1995 wala na. Pambihira that's my way back home before from Iloilo city to Passi. Then I took the jeepney to the mountains to my town. How the hell these politicians left it to Ruin? It used to be like a modern and popular transportation in my younger years. Thanks for sharing.

hello, I grew up in Dumalag, Capiz. My family lives there. Gamit namin to travel from Capiz to Iloilo ang Panay Rail even in the mid 1970s. it only stop the service right after a severe typhoon ( 1984 ), Hindi na say naresume because nawalan ata ng funds? tapos nauso ang Ceres Bus as mode of transportation. sadly, kinilo na ata lahat ng riles ng train. sayang but it was a scenic trip.

Naaalala ko ang riles na yan nung madestino ang father ko diyan sa Iloilo na dating PC at naging detachment Commander sa Maasin, Iloilo noong 70s. Nag-aral pa nga ako diyan sa Iloilo mula Grade 2 hanggang Grade 4 sa Pototan, Iloilo at Grade 6 naman sa city. Sa Pototan kami nangungupahan noon. Dati active ang riles na yan hanggang Iloilo City at lagi kaming sumasakay mula Pototan. Mas gusto kasi ng nanay ko na mamalengke sa Iloilo City noon at kasama ako lagi kaya sa tren kami sumasakay back and forth.

Commercial routes for the riding public from Iloilo City to Roxas City & vice-versa continued up until the late 70s. Then In the early 80s, it only catered to cargo of goods & produce and no longer operated as a passenger transit system until it eventually ceased its operations altogether in 1983.

Wow now ko lang nlaman na my train pla dati na nag operations sa panay island.iloilo to roxas capiz.pinanganak ako sa part ng roxas at iloilo nman mother ko but now ko lang nlaman na meron plang ganun kasi d pa ako pinanganak ng mga times na my train pla jn dko na naabutan dhil seguro sa pagtigil ng operation nila at tuluyan ng nasira ng sinakop na hapon ang Pilipinas 😅 thank Zef tv sa blogs 😊❤

Hindi dahil sa sinakop ng hapon ang Pilipinas kundi dahil sa pagsakop ng mga Aquino sa Pilipinas at pinabayaan yan. Taga Iloilo ako noh.

Sana ipaayos ni PBBM yan malaking tulong yan sa mga kababayan natin at balang araw magiging tourist attraction din yan, sinayang ng mga sumunod na Pangulo ang transportation na yan walang mga isip ang mga sumunod na Pangulo. Tapos pa tour tour sila sa ibang bansa di kaya naiisip na tayo ang kauna unahang nagkaroon ng train, sayang talaga kasi matitibay ang gawa nila noon di tulad ngayon na kaunti bagyo lang sira na mga kalsada,mga ampaw ang gawa nila.

May 2 Plano sila Dyan , ibalik ang panay railways at ang ISA Naman ay express way Kasi I think pag express way may toll fee diba😅 Kaya halos puro nalang Plano Yung pagbabalik ng train projects. ISA pa malaking Pondo ang kilangan dito , actually nakalatag na ang mga Plano dahil Meron Ng dati pa from Iloilo city to Roxas city, Yung phase 2ang medyo magastos Dyan Kasi LAHAT ay bago from Roxas city to Caticlan.

It's really too bad that they didn't maintain and improve it. My parents said that it was really very convenient and faster to travel between the two cities, not just for people but also for goods and produce. It also served the many towns that dotted between the two cities. I'd like to see a railway that encircles the whole Panay, including Antique.
