Khabibs a great ambassador for Russia. Good to see Russians getting behind Khabib regardless of ethnicity, its the sign of an advanced society. Russia is a multi-ethnic country, it goes beyond just ethnic Russians. The English don't think twice about who Anthony Joshua represents when he fights, packed out stadiums, record breaking PPV numbers. The Croats were hugely supportive of Eduardo, a Brazilian born player who went on to represent Croatia. If you just have an ethnocentric, ethnochauvisnist, ethnoexclusivist bone headed mentality, then things aren't really going to go prosper and advance.

If you watch the documentary about his father you will see he has pictures of Russian mma fighters such as Fedor, Volkov, Petr Yan ect. Even though they are not his students he calls them '' Our boys'' It's only natural for ethnic Russians to support Khabib just like Khabib's dad supports his countrymen.

You Americans watch to many Cold War movies, Russia or even before the “Russian empire” is a multi ethnic federation. The people in the native land swore oaths to the Russian Tsar in exchange for self autonomy just like how States in the USA are self autonomous. You wouldn’t call a Texan just a Texan or a Californian a Californian you would call them all American or both. Just like if you live in tartarstan or Sakha you would be called both Russian and Tartar.

Russia is a tough place to live in back in 2018 when I got my admission for higher studies, I used to buy some late night snacks near a grocery store, the store employees don't even wanna talk to you, there's no such thing as greetings in their unless u greet them first and they'll reply with a low irritated voice which makes u regret what was I gonna get from greeting?..😂
