The second to last person is so right. I'm not Black, I'm Latina but our culture does similar shit because "familia is important." I found out recently that the reason one of my uncles was divorced was because he might have done shit with his two daughters. The stories I’ve been told by my mother on how my grandparents were not allowed to buy certain materials when my grandpa was ready to build his home! I was appalled ! It makes me think just about how many black vets were locked out of their GI bill who served in the viet war or didn’t get access to those certain 401k retirement account stock options that only wyts shared amongst themselves that are compounded with so much interest today they’re literally rolling in the money !!!! it’s so sad that they’ve literally constructed our outcomes to be blue collar work (service job) or federal government jobs (military, usps etc). no opportunities to become bankers, engineers, all of the things that seize the means of production because they know if we had the chance.. of course now we are finally rising from the ashes and seizing these opportunities and its great but we are JUST getting started… it’s all to put us in position to make it to where we must earn our keep as soon as we walk so we never elevate past a certain dimension of thinking and community enlightenment

I learned about IRAs in my 30s from my husband. We're trying to set up a trust for other assets but my mom still stubbornly and foolishly believes her issues will be resolved and won't come at us like a Debt Train once she passes. Everyone makes this excuse just shows people don’t know what’s actually healthy or not. Chicken, rice, and beans are staples in most households. @@frankfoster5157i understand where you are coming from, i grew up poor and had strict rules on what was in our fridge, there is to a certain extent a choice in how you feed your family. My parents had to work really hard to ensure thid. but even we struggled to get fresh food and balanced ingredients sometimes and it entirely depended on where we lived. it is a systemic issue having to do with food deserts, poverty, etc. it has gotten much worse recently, too. Yes, some people are able to get cheap rice and beans and proteins depending on their location. But times change and unhealthy and junk food-type meals have become far more common and far more accessible in the last ten, twenty years - especially with food supply chain issues and shortages cause by covid that all these companies use as an excuse for cheaper and unhealthy ingredients that they are adding to once healthy food. Truth is, impoverished and redlined neighborhoods often do not have access to fully loaded grocery stores or areas where they can get the things they need. To you, seems like a choice. But i have lived it for many years, and for many, its not. If you dont have a car, you must be able to walk. And that’s not usually the case, city infrastructures aren’t built around being walkable for people anymore unless you are in an already walkable city. And Many parts of big cities (NY) still have this issue, or really rural areas are considered food deserts with no access to grocery stores unless they have the ability to go to a wealthy neighborhood to get it, still, at a higher price. Impoverished areas that are primarily black/brown have the following stores usually in their radius: gas stations, fast food, liquor stores, and check cashing places. That is a very deliberate structure in poor areas because thats how they keep poor people poor - by never allowing there to be a place for people to shop healthy, to cut any funding or licensing that allows locals to gather and have community and be able to learn and share, cutting funding that teaches kids how to eat healthy, cutting funding for kids to eat whole meals in inner city schools, there are tons of avenues deliberately blocked in order to keep poor folks poor. “So why not create your own? Why not open your own stores and break the cycle” well, shocker, they do the same things with banks, property management companies, etc. people cant even stay afloat in their own communities due to legislation and laws that was specifically put in place to restrict the rights of black/brown people because they know their system was already built on banking on brown/black folks to struggle financially. “Well we did it back in the day..” Yes. And unfortunately a lot of those adults did not pass this down to their families below. A lot of laws and regulations have changed since the “good old days” where you could much easier walk to a corner store and get what you need. A lot of FDA and food regulations have changed. A lot of food in general has changed. People are beat down to the point where they cant even see what was capable in the past because all they know is right now, veg and fruit and whole meals arent nearly as easy to get as they were back then. When people work every day and night with no time in between and a full family to feed, you often just need to get SOMETHING to make sure your kids are fed. And sometimes, the unhealthy option is the one that is close by, open late, or affordable. My family was very poor, we ate rice and beans and balanced meals, so yes it is possible, but not for everyone - and i learned that with every area i lived in. Can it be stopped? Not by citizens alone. Again, legislation and govt infrastructure was created deliberately to stop people from thriving without the govt. so until those people are voted out (which we have discovered unfortunately we do not decide who stays at the end of the day, they choose) and those laws are abolished and cities that struggle under abusive powers can be broken, individuals are fighting a forever war here. Baltimore is extremely segregated and damaged, and their govt does not benefit from helping poor folks, so they wont do it. Businesses closed down, no parks or public areas, roads are awful, cops are corrupt to an insane degree, crime is out of the roof because of bad policing and corruption.. the whole part of the city that is primarily minorities has been neglected horribly and their govt will never change that because they cant make money from being a good govt and helping their people thrive. They think their own citizens are not valuable, so they refuse to invest in them. The cycle continues. People have to have enough money to move in order to ever see a difference. People shouldnt have to leave everything behind and abandon a city they love or have roots in or family in just to have basic resources they need to survive. Systemic abuse does have a lot to do with it. And saying “theres no excuse” is not really true when tons of big parts of america struggle with this problem and we have the stats to prove it. Yes, we have to make sacrifices and more effort to access healthy food, but its very narrow minded to assume the entire US has all of the assets you need to maintain a healthy home. Years back, yes, but that is not the case now, and its done deliberately by the government because the more unhealthy we are, the more money they can make from treating our health issues Also, I live in a low cost of living state - groceries, especially for nonperishables and fresh foods are INSANELY high right now.. 10 small items is minimum 50-80$ at your local grocery or big chain grocery. It is simply not true that groceries are cheaper. Ibworked at a grocery, prices go up weekly and portions get smaller with every order of product. Inflation is insane, even in the poor areas, and its affecting everyone

Chances are you aren't allowed to be out at 4am because you have a higher chance of being trafficked. Your brothers might get robbed though which sucks cause they have a higher chance of getting killed in a robbery.

If someone is coming over, then yes, make yourself look presentable. If person 'x' is about to visit, whoever it is, then I wouldn't want my children wearing raggedy, hole-filled, dirty looking clothes that looks like they should've been thrown out. Yes, they're "lounge around the house" clothes, but come on. It's not about people coming in that is not gonna respect your kids, but about showing the visitors, whomever they may be, that we have some manner of decorum.

She was most likely referring to child predators, and covering up to help “protect” the child rather than not allow the predator around at all.

As if the children were running around naked 🙄 I was chastised by my family growing up for wearing only shorts and T-shirt when company came over. It started around age 9. I wasn’t going out of my way to seduce anyone at age 9. How about we leave children alone?

Exactly is it hard to just not be a pedo? Especially if like the girl in the vid said where you know you gotta look out for someone specific, like why is he here then?!? I assumed she was gonna mention like shooters and dealers but pedos is like nahh the moment you have reasonable doubts ousted, if you catch them in the act bullet. @@Unique9asswordfatigue

We all know what she's talking about. People know certain adults have a history with pedophilia but instead of calling the police they just treat victims as if they could have avoided it if they dressed differently. If you have to put your kids in mumus to avoid the gaze of a creepy uncle maybe you should just stop bringing that creepy uncle around or put him in jail.

The second from the last girl is definitely thinking immaturely. Just because Aunt Tanisha is your auntie doesn't mean that she won't look at you sideways just because Uncle Jimmy is your uncle doesn't mean he won't look at you sideways when someone is coming over to the house either stay in your room or put on decent clothes what's the problem? You don't know anybody or what's on anybody's mind.

Which is why as the PARENT you SHOULDN'T be bringing family members LET ALONE STRANGERS willing to prey on your child. A LOT of family members KNOW folks are like that but will STILL bring them type of people into they homes. The best way to take the guesswork out is to remove the family member not stifle your child with lame excuses like what she wearing. That's some serious lack of control your trying to excuse just cause some child is dressed a certain way. Also YES, because you are a F*CKIN adult you shouldn't be looking ANY child that way let alone your own family. The first thing nasty family members do is excuse such disgusting behavior to be willing to prey on a child especially a family member is to attempt to use "we family tho" Nah we stop being family to moment you express even liking children I don't care how they built or look. The moment you prey on a child we worse enemies than the devil and god himself let alone if you prey on my child. That girl ain't immature, you're just ignorant and trying to excuse the behaviors of disgusting people.

To the guy who said food stamps is not currency.. when people don't have money, bartering is the next option for completing transactions. Before money was invented that's what Humans Beings did, was trade items that were considered useful and needed by others. So it's not farfetched that people would trade the only thing they do possess, that could be used as currency, if they have no kind of trade/skill/talent to offer.
