If there's a war, soldiers are recruited from the military base, if there should be a bond, electrons are extracted from the Lewis base. that's how I remember. Thank you.

Wow, you're right, they're comically wrong. My points still stand though: Lewis Acid = electron acceptor Lewis base = electron donor

This teacher is much more entertaining than those boring teachers that I have at my university - they just stand and mumble throughout the whole lectures, almost as if they are talking to themselves or something, and everything has gotta be so goddamn serious all the time.

Very late (studying for praxis so I can teach chemistry myself) but duuude, I wish it was more common to explain Lewis acids and Lewis bases like this! Showing the pair of electrons "moving" and showing the exact bonding the results is so much more helpful than the very vague ways that most textbooks and other teachers explain this!

Hi, I was a bit confused. When donating the electrons, the compound will accept the electron pair and become the acid. But why does it attach bond back to the base? And could you explain the positive and negative charges when the base has donated its electron?

Just a heads up: your SO3 compound is drawn wrong; it's implying that SO3 has a 3- ionic charge. To fix it, just double all the bonds.

wait, how do you have 6 valence e on each oxygen in so3 and then only 4 on h2o? i thought since o has 6 valence electrons, being a single bond to so3, this would give each of the oxygens 5 valence in each

ok so you have the water attaching to sulfur but you don't explian how the proton or hydrogen moves from the water molecule to the other oxygen. i have to draw a corect stucture for this reaction and i'm not sure wither to just use the addition of water by the oxygen lone pair or to put the stuctral diagram for H2SO4, because it does initial form the adduct. anyone have an ideas
