What's a polarizer skateboard? Here's what I know.

My friend gifted me a polarizer deck from Neil Blender's company The Heated Wheel - but I had no idea what a polarizer skateboard was. Turns out it's a retro style of board, like the first boards back in 60s when people mounted rollerskate trucks on planks of wood.

Been riding these for a couple of years. Get some 56 mm Bones Rough Riders (they are 80A and require at least 3 washers to not rub against the truck), some quality bearings and two packs of Bones bushings (I am 80 kg and I ride the soft/blue ones). You need two packs because you can only use the tall ones. Surfs up 🤙

literally, as kids we stuck rubber rollerskate wheels onto a plank..59 years old here.

i just trimmed an old skateboard into a very similar shape/wheelbase and slapped some penny board trucks with decent bearings and i love it. its feels like a penny for the mid-aged which suits exactly my needs xD

The bottom nut should be tightened down against the baseplate so the truck is not wobbly. If you "pinch" the bushings together you risk stripping the thread. The reason the nose and tail was turned down was so people could only carve on it. No kickturns allowed!

I put reissue Cadillac wheels on mine and went with looser Doh-Doh bushings. Had to buy two sets of bushings. The barrel fits perfectly but Doh-Dohs come with one barrel and one conical.

Def want but kinda unsure to get one with the screw in trucks or normal Allen key and pre drilled version. Looks super fun though. All hail blender !

If your OJs are rubbing your bushing seat toss a couple extra speed rings on the inside of your wheels for more clearance

Did you grip the bottom / are the nose and tail supposed to bend down? Old boards used to have the graphic on the top cuz flip tricks and grip tape weren't invented yet so you'd never see it if it was on the bottom

These are made to have the nose and tail point down. Super odd feeling to set up a board that way, but that's how Blender and co do it. I've heard it helps with the flex...

I saw these online recently. Any reason the nose+tail are pointing down? (less distance to tail stop?)

My understanding is that it helps with flex and may be a throwback to some old boards. Take that all with a grain of salt.

to my knowledge it was meant to "assist" with the natural curvature of our feet...

The heated wheel does send free grip with boards. Other shops might not. The cool folks just use scraps ;)

@@strayrocket so it did come with grip but for some reason they came with drilled holes meant for the polarizer trucks and i already bought the sure grip trucks so they don’t fit 🥲i’m wondering what kind of hardware to use

@@meep8218 Interesting. I think they came out with the Polarizer trucks after I posted this. So I bet they are now drilling them in advance to get people to buy their trucks and not the sure grips....

I am Japanese so your English in the video is too fast for me to understand but the video is very interesting. I also got this deck. But I'm having trouble figuring out how to determine the exact position to drill the truck holes. I'm not a good listener in English, but I can translate basic sentences in print, so if you are a kind person, please let me know in the comments how to position the holes and what tools I should prepare. My own small vocabulary and English from a translation app, but I hope you get the message.

There's no exact location to drill the wheels, it's meant to be up to your personal preference.

Set up the trucks where you want them to be, mark where screw holes are with a pencil, then drill

So, end of the day this video contains no proper review. You went to the pump track without the tools to make the trucks function. Glad I skipped ahead to that part.
