Loved this! For so long we’ve been ingrained to be a Proverbs 31 woman, but just yesterday I watched a video on Solomon from The Bible Project and they said the same thing. Solomon describes wisdom as a woman so Proverbs 31 might not be a real woman but wisdom. Really enjoying these Bible studies from you 😊 I’m a new subscriber!

I've always viewed the Proverbs 31 woman as something to aspire to, not to compare myself with her. I read it and find ways I can improve and look at it as inspiration vs condemnation. Comparison is the thief of joy. I have to say I love this new perspective of viewing the woman as a symbol of wisdom. That is definitely really interesting and gives a whole new meaning and layer to these verses. Thanks for sharing, I really enjoyed this study!

Thank you for this. The ideas of your professor didn't resonate(replacing woman with wisdom) but your ideas around the imagery of Proverbs 31 did. While we may never see ourselves as the woman in proverbs 31 I can see others in that imagery (rather than the literal). I see my daughter and I see you. You may not have a vineyard but you are growing a church with your husband and a community of believers with your You Tube Channel and your Patreon. You have made it possible for me to read, study and enjoy the bible, something I have never been able to do before. I wondered how you do all that you do and now I know.... 4:00 am starts...wow!!!

Hi there. New to the channel and I already love it. Years ago I attended a a women's bible study on the Proverbs 31 woman. She talked about how the Lady had servants. Well we do not have human servants today, but we do have Washers and Dryers, Dishwashers (not our kids lol) Refrigerators, Freezers, Lawn mowers, Weed Whackers, etc...... We have to do a little bit of work with some of these items, but they sure do help us out a lot. I also want to say thanks for your channel. I HATE TO READ!!!! And I find the Bible boring in some areas. I told the Lord, "Lord, you know I hate to just sit down and read for the sake of reading. I do not like to read unless it is something that is very interesting and teaches me something valuable. Well...... I love to scrapbook and junk journal and you are helping me to get into the word by doing these things to my bible. What did you say..... If it helps you get into the word, then it is worth every penney!!! You are helping me to stop feeling guilty about not reading the word and to get into the word, not only with the scrapbooking, but with the way you explain the passages. Love it. Have a blessed day.

I just finished in December a whole year of proverbs 31 devotion that I received from a sister in Christ. It was inspiring and I’m so glad God is my help. I know if I give him full control of my life he will lead me! Praise God for godly women/men who trust in the Lord! Have an awesome day to anyone who reads this!!! Loved the idea of substituting Wisdom for Woman in this chapter. Proverbs is one of those books that you can read a million times and never glean all that we can from it. I so love this. I am in a season of my life where life has slowed but I still wake up around 5am. I am trying to start an Embracing Mom’s network of my piers to reach out and share their time with moms that have so much on their plates. Last week I had three littles at my house while a mom, dad and seven year old snuck away for a day of snowboarding. Rather than exhaustion, Ron and I were invigorated. We had an incredible dance party complete with dress up clothes my 30 something kidding s wore so long ago.

Girrrl I feel ya about doing dishes however with tiny hoomans I realize washing dishes is a time I get where I get to talk with King Jesus pray express my heart to Him. So I hope this helps. Lol just something I learned to take advantage of.

I laughed as I read the comments. When I grew up and watched my mother take care of our family I realized that she was the Proverb 31 woman. She did wake up at 4:30am to make her husband a good lunch (his lunches were like fried chicken, green beans, potato salad and a dessert,etc) and she made the family breakfast. Her husband asked my mom once to make him two lunches because he could sell one as the men couldn't believe he got those meals each day. What I learned is that my mom had a rhythm for her household. We older girls were her help. There were 18 children in total, we were a blended family. By the time I was 12yrs old I could run the house in her absence. She chose her battles wisely and many times won them without a lot of effort. I love the Proverb 31 woman and I read her differently than most women. I only see my mother.

Girl, I just love you! Lol proverbs 31 woman, she’s as close to perfection as they come. My pastor said she wondered if this woman, was actually a compilation of many woman together 🤷🏽‍♀️. Who knows?!

Okay, so this legit blew my mind! It shouldn't have, because going by the rest of proverbs you would think it would be pretty obvious. But, it definitely was not. So, this helped me so much and made me feel better about my own life as a wife and a mom. Lol Thank you!!!!!! 😊

Wisdom is what many wives of the older generation had. You can't be married 45yrs - 51yrs without it. I love my grandmother's advice that you should have a outlet/hobby of your own, and you shouldn't forget yourself just because you have children. Children are your jewelry, blessing and glory. She and my grandfather were married 47yrs. He loved to hunt, and she loved high fashion, therefore she sewed, and they both loved to entertain.

Wisdom, Oh my that isn a glorious find. I am not sure we could do all “she” can do. And be all she is…. I have heard of the fact we do have some of thoes servants. I know I have a washer and dryer, I have an oven and stove, I have running water, and so on these “things”we count on for help in our homes… well they are out servent girls and we manage them as we use them., I even have a dish washer and mixer and water heater and pump. (B we have a well). All of these things are jobs that females had to do by hand.. and we have our servants to take care of us. In light of that . We do manage out homes and …. I even clean these servants and watch them to have them continue to work for us…. Alas wisdom is there.. Big time for me. Thank you and I appreciate you and all you do.

I've always loved this chapter. I felt it told me what I COULD do, and balanced out the NT passages that told me what I couldn't do. Many of the earlier chapters of Proverbs tell the son the kind of woman to avoid, this one tells him what kind of wife to find. I do appreciate your thoughts.

Proverbs always speak about wisdom as a woman since the beginning. However, for me, it is inspirational but not a burden of perfection or judgment as a woman. As you said, we can pray for wisdom and for God to use us as an instrument. God, in his precious mercy, provides us with the characteristics we need from Proverbs, not only Proverbs 31. I totally agree that we need a background to understand and apply His word and mostly the Holy Spirit to guide us.

Maybe the Proverbs 31 is a good picture to look up as a woman. And it is indeed probably a superwoman, so no woman can boast, "I am perfect woman". This is, for every woman, something to look up, if they feel bored and lazy. But the ones, who try hard to be the best mom and wife.. This chapter doesn't command women to be like this or do the described things. It is just telling that a good wife is precious, trustworthy, diligent, cheery, obliging, prepared, self-directed, talking wisely, observant, God-fearing and she is to be praised!

Im currently a college student and we just covered the book of proverbs. Your interpretation of this chapter is on point. Interesting fact many theologians believe that the book of Proverbs was actually used to groom Israeli men that were preparing to work in governmental leadership. (Original audience)

Interesting take for sure and definitely gonna have to take a gander at this study. I love how wisdom would make more sense and allow us to feel less guilty about not being able to meet those standards. The Proverbs 31 woman always made me feel like a failure as a woman. 😄 She is a "super woman" for sure. 😉 A force to reckon with.💪

The Virtuous Woman is Wisdom. Only Wisdom can do all that is accomplished. And like you mentioned, she has a husband and servants. With servants, she still gets the credit. Buying property and selling her goods, again, her husband does it, but she gets the credit(at least, among her girlfriends).

I'm a qualified dream analyst therapist and recently turned to Christianity. I have to point out with regard to studying, you must sleep for 7 hours per night. So your studying becomes easier and you don't end up burnt out with sleep deprivation. I would suggest to do some studying before sleep. When you fall to sleep what you have studied sticks more so. Research has shown this does in fact work and people end up getting higher marks. Xx

I never ever herd of wisdom as the woman. That takes a big load off. I always that this is want a perfect wife and strive to attain it, which is impossible.

If you have the holy spirit, You already are(now, in your hearing) The proverbs 31 Women! And the holy spirit guides you towards the choices. It's by faith not by sight

Just as an additional throught... Proverbs 31:1 mentions that it is a prophecy. A woman in prophecy represents the church. (Eph 5:25 also says woman = church)... if you look in Revelation, you see the bride of CHRIST vs. the harlot - the false church.

Her getting up early doesn't mean she gets up at 4 am. What is does mean. Is that as a mother I am. You get up early to feed her baby and also gets up to prepare lunches for her family and gets her children ready for school etc. also the verse about her buying a field. It's not literally buying a field. What that means is she goes and buys groceries for her family and servants. She makes sure she buys wisely what her family needs. Her lamp doesn't go out at night can mean that she could be needing to finish some work she needs to have done the next day. IE catching up with work brought home to complete etc. her lamp doesn't go out at night can also mean a child is sick and she will stay awake to tend to her sick children. You have to realize that the role of a woman has not changed but rather her tasks of today's life style

We are failures! Not as women, but as human beings. That is why Christ needed to come and save us. We cannot approach the perfection of the proverbs 31 woman because we are imperfect.

Hello. I am sorry I am late to the game but I just discovered your channel. Which I love. I think you are doing great work. The one thing I would suggest is, know your hebrew translation. Woman, in this verse, is translated as wife...eset translates wife as in his wife or Abraham's wife etc...same context. Wisdom is no where found as translation of eset. I understand you went to seminary and speak of it allot but until you get a good jewish culture and hebrew knowledge, you can miss the boat on meaning quite a bit. Just a suggestion. Knowing hebrew and understanding jewish culture will really bring biblical understanding to light. Same with greek portion. The only good translation is original. My opinion.

So, I have heard that there is a psalm with the same alphabet style poem. I heard that back in the day the children who went to school would memorize the psalm to learn the alphabet. I have wondered if this is what the girls learned?
