I can’t be any happier, without getting wet spots, with my Honda EU3200 w/Bluetooth monitoring. It’s the Bees Knees of generators, and I let Honda service it for me whenever the notifications tell me maintenance is due. Fair Winds.

They both have their place. I don't think one completely replaces the other. At places where we can't run a generator we take a Ecoflow River. Like on our boat or tailgating. Not running an RV on it, but good enough to keep devices charged, bluetooth speakers going, couple fans. The other thing to consider here is cost. The Ecoflow's are CONSIDERABLY more expensive. It's hard to justify $2k for a power bank. My 15,000 watt whole house generator was about the same cost.

Kudos on a fair and thorough side by side. I think there’s room on board for both solutions. Living and camping in the PNW, rain/clouds is kind of a day to day issue 2/3rds of the year which make reliance on solar exclusively a no go. I run 800 watts solar on the roof to a big Bluetti unit and have a couple of dual fuel Champion 2500s that I can run solo or in parallel. Power is never an issue. EcoFlow or Bluetti…great gear no matter who you go with. Thanks for putting this video out!

I think using both is the way to go. The pro's and cons of each compliments the other. I have that champion you showcased and love it. I have a Pecron E2000lfp which intakes 1300 watts of solar. I use them for blackouts, hurricanes etc.. The pecron has a 2000 watt inverter the champion has 1650 on propane that's a lot of simultaneous power during busy times dinner etc.. I love both of them they really compliment each other. Great video!

Great comparison! We travel with two Champion 4500 generators and run them in parallel. It's great for boondocking in the heat where you need AC. I like running both in eco mode because even if not running a large load, it'll keep fuel consumption low enough to last the entire night. But when we don't need AC, generators stay put away.

Well done as always. Although the all in one's are tempting, the cost vs separate components is quite high and if the inverter, charge controller...goes out in the all in ones... I think that unless you want/need portability, the winner is separate components and the Champion 2500 duel fuel.

Thanks for the awesome video!!! I will definitely be going with the Champion inverter after learning that the geny will run longer under a 1500 watt Air conditioning load at a fraction of the price of the Delta 2 with extra battery!! I camp off the grid so once the generator is out of fuel you just re-fuel it, would have to purchase a generator to charge the battery banks, lol!......or pay even more for the solar panels and have to wait many hours for them to charge them up, definitely not feasible for off grid camping

If you don't need need the portability of the EcoFlow or similar units, I think spending on the money on upgrading your RV's battery bank is the better option if you already have an inverter. The Champion DF generators are great too, I have the 3400W unit and it's only been on propane and plumbed to my trailer's 60lb of LP, it can run a really really long time and charge back up my lithium battery bank if the 400W solar can't keep up, which only happens when I run the 13.5kBTU A/C on the inverter for about 3 hours.

We have a Bluetti AC200MAX and a Honda 2000 that we carry if we plan to boondock. We can use the Honda to run things and charge the Bluetti, then use the Bluetti at night. We don't have enough solar to make a difference but do use a portable panel on occasion. For home backup we have the Honda, a 6500w Multi quip, the AC200MAX, and a Bluetti EB3a, along with 2k watts of solar panels.

Great video-thank you. Why not both? If you’re spending $4,500 on the delta 2 max and extra battery and solar panel, you may as well spend an extra $400-$500 and have the propane generator back up. Thanks for another great video, I always enjoy them. On a somewhat off-topic (but related) note, I love Champion's dual-fuel invertor-generators (as you do). Champion makes both dual-fuel generators and remote-start generators, but for some unknown reason, they don't make a dual-fuel generator with remote start. The only mfg that I have found that does is GenMax, but there is only limited info on KZfaq about GenMax generators. I'd love to see you do a comparison of your dual-fuel Champion generator and a similar model GenMax dual-fuel, remote start generator.

Nothing to do with your topic here, but I'm amazed at the oscope you have! the ones I used back in the late 70's early 80's just about needed a trailer to pull them. I'm exaggerating but they were as big as a medium suitcase and weighed a lot. They were milspec. I'm not sure that makes a difference. The ones I saw after in civilian industry looked pretty much the same. You could wear the one you have on your wrist.

One of these days I will be converting over to lithium and will consider just buying the Delta Pros. Sounds like they can take care of most power needs except extended a/c usage. But, I will still bring my generator along while boondocking as a backup. Been too many times where I would have been absolutely miserable without a generator.

I built my own battery generator before this brand was available (bonus- all parts in mine are 100% user replaceable and the cost was 50% cheaper with double the battery capacity) . All the others brands were subpar for my standards. I use a 2300 watt generator to charge it during the day, so it's quiet at night during the sleeping hours. I'll add solar eventually, but you need alot of space for the panels. I hope Honda and yamaha get on board and build these with their known reliability.

Jarad, thank you for the informative video. I have a soft start on my AC unit and the Champion 2500W dual fuel generator. I found that the AC will go as high as 1700 watts and kill the generator on propane. During your test you were able to run the AC on propane. Can you tell me how many watts your AC was drawing? The Champion is very close to having enough power on propane, but it will drop and restart while running my AC. I had to start carrying gas for those days I need the AC unit.

Good comparison, but in reality, for extended travel one needs both. I have a Delta Max with two extra smart batteries in my Airstream, and a duplicate setup under my truck cap. 600 W of solar on the Airstream and 320 W on the truck. That’s 12 KWH of storage and 2400 W of continuous power which suffices for our needs (we are not exceptionally frugal) UNLESS we have several days in cloudy weather or shaded campsites. Then I use my 10 yr old Yamaha 2400 IS to recharge. I don’t like using the gasoline generator, but sometimes it is necessary.

I also have the champion dual fuel generator. It is awesome. I mounted it to the front hitch of my camper and ran a cable with a padlock around it. I have the 14.5k furrion A/C with a micro-air easy start and that is the only item I can power with the Champion on propane. I have to unplug everything 110v and shut off the battery charger and then I can run A/C all day long. The only downside is it is louder than other generators but as far as I saw the quieter generators didn’t offer an easy dual fuel option like this. It has to be installed separately. So Champion it is.

Hey guys. I have the same set up but for some reason it cannot handle my AC and mine is 13.5k. I truly don’t know what’s going on

@@wilson12365 I’m not familiar with a watchdog is that a surge protector? Seems like the surge protectors have ground bonding issues with inverter generators. You may want to look up generator neutral bond plugs on KZfaq. That may fix the issue. It won’t hurt anything to try it either.

Great video as always. When you say the Delta 2 max ran an AC for 1 hour on the base unit, does that actually mean solid run time or does it thermostatically go on and off maintaining a degree setting? The reason I ask is if you can run two hours (continuous) with the extra battery, that could give you a shot at running the AC all night if you have a small square foot RV and set the temp around 75 degrees as it would (guessing) run about 1/3 and be off about 2/3 if the outside air temp drops to the low 70's at night in the summer. As the night moves on, the AC is working less and less. That is what I am always trying to figure out on these battery upgrades is if you can do a one night Harvest Host Stay in the summer and have the AC run and allow you to have a good night sleep. Sorry for being so long in my question.

How many watts does the Ecoflow require charging from AC power? If I had my vehicle running (160A alternator and dual 1000A group 31 batteries) and a 500 watt inverter, would that charge it faster than plugging it into a 12V outlet? Would it be feasible to run a direct 30A fused 12V from the vehicle to charge it (as if it was a solar panel)?

@whitmorestrains Ай бұрын
I use both. I use a delta 2 for all high wattage appliances like a coffee maker or microwave. I don’t need the extra battery capacity for that level of use. If you do this, you don’t need much of a house battery system either because the draw is so low with small dc only loads. The most important load for me in 95 degree weather is the a/c. Since no one wants to only run the a/c for an hour a day before the ecoflow battery is drained, I run a dedicated small generator just for the a/c with an easy start installed. That way I can run my a/c on gas or propane for as long as I want and still have a full delta for those short run appliances. I can also charge a delta or house battery if I don’t have enough solar with the generator if I absolutely have to. Any of the 3 sources can charge any of the other sources. It works well.

Excited to see where this technology is headed. At this price point, I don't see the Delta (or similar) replacing the gas generator for majority of TT/5th wheel RVers. Adding enough solar to effectively charge the Deltas has you approaching 8X the cost of the Champion, probably difficult for the masses to justify. Any reason you couldn't set up a DC to DC charging ability? Thinking Class B or "van life" situation. Thanks Jared!

Wonderful review! In real-world use on our 2022 Winnebago Solis Pocket, we've been able to run our AC unit off of our Delta Pro Max for about 2 hours before needing to recharge. It's a spectacular unit that affords us lots of flexibility beyond our small Champion generator. We mostly use the generator ro recharge the Delta Pro and it's nice to have the backup just in case. We are considering purchasing an external solar panel to charge the Delta Pro and I'm curious if anyone knows how long (roughly) it takes to charge it off of one 400-watt solar panel. Sadly, we are not able to plug directly into the Pocket's rooftop solar panel.
@Sylvan_dB
@Sylvan_dB Жыл бұрын
In full sun you probably will only get 80% of the 400 watt panel, or 320 watts. The Delta Pro has 3600 watt-hours of battery. If that battery is empty it will take 3600 watt hours divided by 320 watts or over 11 hours to fully charge. I doubt you will get full sun for 11 hours in one day, plus if you are using it while you charge then some of the power will go to that.

Champion does not recommend using eco mode with A/c and on hot day it struggle and a/c can not cool the unit due to the struggle. The 2500 is a great generator it is just a tad small. Don’t even attempt to run AC with propane. Champion did tell me constant running ac in eco mode could damage ac and the generator.

That’s unfortunate, do you park it in the shade or was it covered in snow for a long time? If everything was off the solar should have kept it charged.

@@AllAboutRVs It wasn’t parked in the shade and we don’t get any snow in south Texas. Thinking about upgrading the solar panel or add another one.

In winder for 3 months you can not use solar and generator is the obvious winner. The better is to have lithium in the rv and use the gas generator as a backup.

The prices for the Delta 2 Max and extra battery have come down significantly since the review was done, plus with EcoFlows new Alternator Charger, you can charge it at 800 watts with your vehicle.

I do not know if it is comparable but I would love to know the life of the batteries in the Eco. Every single charge brick I ever owned )including the expensive RAV variety have ceased holding a charge within 2 years. If those follow that even partially with degraded charge holding that makes them a very expensive lesson and why I am reluctant to put that much $$$ into one.

The newest ecoflows have lithium iron phosphate batteries that can be used up to 3,000-3,500 times before dropping to 80% capacity.

I hear your concern. LiFePo4 batteries are different from what you have been used to. These should last for many years even if we use it everyday. But time will tell how all theses units do long term.

Good afternoon! I have to say, I have enjoyed your videos for a long time. Unfortunately, with recent sponsorships the channel is becoming more unrealistic for the casual campers. I hate to say it but the reason I enjoy your channel is the “everyday man” tips tricks and cost saving know how for me. Seems like, even though your videos are super informative, they are more geared toward the $250,000 rigs that pull into the campground.😢 Would love to see more average Joe stuff again!

I hear you on that, there has been a lot of new equipment hitting the market I’ve been trying to share from an RVers perspective. This weeks video was to show the pro’s and con’s of each knowing every RVers wants/needs are different. Some the the generator is perfect others might want the power station, but I tried to keep the test fair and pertinent for RVers typical uses. I will always try to keep a balance like last weeks towing tips for RVing and next week is going to be about saving money.

Champion 2800 watt generator $650, the 5500 watt is $1000. Why use the over priced Honda other than to make the battery generation not look so bad.
@AllAboutRVs
@AllAboutRVs Жыл бұрын
Good question. For perspective because so many RVers love the Honda for many reasons and it is relatively the same size and class. I had a 4500 generator I was going to include in the video but it didn’t fit most the comparisons of a small easy to lift generator.

Hate to be "that guy" but c'mon, $3000 vs $500? 90lbs vs 40? It's like comparing a Ferrari to a Camry, if the Camry performed almost as well, but actually made more noise! Not to mention that the EcoFlow requires a lot more space. Love that it's silent, but then again, 52 decibels is hard to complain about. Where EcoFlow comes out on top is if you're camping in serious heat and need that AC running all night. You can do that with the Champion so long as your boondocking. I'm hard pressed to spend 2500 more when I can also add a water based "chill pad" to my bed for a few hundred bucks.

Just go with Harbor Freight 3500-4500 Generator. Forget getting all that expensive Solar. Maybe just get a solar suitcase to top off your batteries and when you need some real juice fire up the generator. Do you know how much has you can buy by saving all that huge solar system????? A shit load FYI

I own an Eco Flow product. I get it. but these things are worthless for RV's, Sure if You like spending senselessly. So much cheaper to do an All in one unit, Batteries and panels. running your entire RV on these deltas is ridiculous. Emergency only. Ideally I would have an All in 1 unit and a Champion duel fuel. Eco flow makes killer products. but they are literally stealing hard earned money from you. their prices are ridiculous.

Test fail. The gas (petrol) and the gas (propane) is not free. There will be a break even point where after a certain amount of use for the consumables inc oil and the hassle of maintenance will mean the battery power station will win for day to day use. Sure keep the standard generator around for a rainy period to charge up the daily use battery bank. But not for 24/7 operation.

So I have a 39 solar panels at my home and have a lot of experience with them. When it rains solar hardly produces if any . The power output will be lucky 15% from the panels. I dont believe that is accurate when it rains claiming that a generator can't be used. I have a dual fuel generator on my RV and I built a generator house that is mounted on a cargo rack off my rv bumper. I extended my propane line all the way to the back of my rv and it has the quick connect line. Only need to run an extension cord from generator. So in a rain situation with a generator your only limited to your fuel for my experience. With solar you get 2 days of solid rain in the summer your not running you ac . Your sweating and swearing lol 😆

Another shameless affiliate link plug. They are different tools for a similar job.. For the money spent on that power station you could buy 3x the power in battle born batterys....... Power stations are a huge waste of money

I don't seem to see that deal at Battleborn. This looks like you get the same output for less money . Their 100 Amp hour battery is normaly $925 but on sale for $825. You would need three so that's $2475 add a victron Inverter for $1416.95 and that brings you to $3891.95 before you buy the components to put it together. That's way more. The kit that would be equivilant is $5375.47. What am I missing. I also don't mind some one with an affiliate link. There was a lot of info here to help make a decision, it wasn't just a commercial, there were pros and cons of each.
