overall it makesense that ozelot is higher, people tend to compare the two and wonder how strela is lower but they dont realize ozelot have better range, thermal, and irst that search 360 degree, and smaller vehicle. while strela have better manuverability missile with poor range.

@number7red619 In my experience.. it's not the same for Strelas. It's rare that they aren't deceived by countermeasures when playing as one or when playing against one. Personally I'd say the Strela is more of a menace in a downtier as flareless jets struggle to evade it kinetically, while the Stinger is more broadly capable as it isn't decoyed by countermeasures. The Stinger in particular is a helicopter slayer, as countermeasures don't work against them and helis (Russian ones up to 9.7 anyway) struggle to outmaneuver the 10G missile.

ozelot all the way for the simple reason that it has IRST whereas the strela doesnt the IRST help ALOT on spotting shiet on the sky, combined with the gen 2 thermal on ur gunner sight make it very easy to use, oh and the stinger works most of the time despite the botched max g load and wacky lock range

On top of IRST, it also has a search radar.

IRST has the search part in it which unlike actual search radar, doesnt trigger RWR so calling ozelot irst search radar aint exactly correct which is the primary reason i pick this shiet over the gepard, even the roland and the msl truck just becuz they either have no thermal search, or the IRST takes too long to research like on the german msl truck. Its a combination of a good inaff msl, IRST and a very nimble platform with scout ability make me take this boi over the giant msl truck any time of the day

If it’s something with flares like an A-4e i think that the ozelot missels are better with ECCM

If the leak list is right, the Chaparral might be introduced soon. Combines the seeker of the stinger with the AIM-9D's frame (at least if we talk MIM-72G, doubt we get an earlier version because that would be exceptionally bad), which puts it more up to par with the 9M37 in terms of maneuverability but with vastly better seeker in comparison. Sadly won't solve anything when it comes to lock range against helicopters or drones.

@number7red619 No, the Chaparral is the name of the MIM-72 weapon system, which is an US built one. Essentially they are just ground launched AIM-9Ds, later versions of the missile got the stinger seeker. The system was in use by the US, Taiwan (so possible the Chinese tree in game) and Israel (which is likely to get it as well, as they're lacking SPAA). Gaijin might also just only introduce it to Israel now I think about it, kinda similar to how the TOR-1 was only given to China and not also Russia.

The stupid is a 3km lock stingers vs 5km hellfire and now 8.7 just a mess up by the A4 earlybird

And what about the VAB Santal ? 6X 12G mistral ready to launch and 6 missiles in the hull 6km all aspect and 6.5km range Thermal, radar, a fast and fun wheeled vehicle

I just wish Gaijin would model MISTRAL correctly. 30G overload, 930m/s, and a 6KM lock guarantee on ALL aircraft.

The Mistrals For me, these are the best AA missiles, so I would prefer SANTAL, but I will try to do a test someday

They definitely do, stingers take a certain way of using flares and the 9M37s on the strela work like every other A2A missile (just with very small seeker FoV). At least, in game.

The Strela is GOD AWFUL. Its slow, the missiles are easily flared, it has no damn range (1.68km vs helicopter), its rather big... worst SPAA I ever used.
