My mother in law was at Woodstock. She’s said it was a blissful disaster. Rain, mud, no food, barely any water, no place to go to the bathroom, constantly getting lost from friends, people not showering for almost 4 days, barely any sleep for the duration of the festival.

If you haven’t seen Festival Express, you should. It was a cross country train tour with The Band, The Dead, Joplin and others touring Canada. A scene from the party car illustrated how nutty the Grateful Dead guys were. There is an XL bottle of Canadian Club Whiskey in The table with a lot of « stuff» floating in it, and everyone is LIT UP like a Xmas Tree.

It’s not that deep I assure you, he expects them to laugh because it’s a humorous story , plus I doubt please lord keep me in time and tune is an actual mantra he has that he recites while meditating for example

I been there Carlos. I can relate. Someone slipped me 1/2 of a grey flat of acid back in 1969. Then about 1/2 hour later I took 3-4 tokes off a very big joint. I began to see giant orange spiders in a blue web. People became 20 ft. tall. Then I became 20 ft. tall and people were 1 ft. tall. People would ask a question and 2 minutes later I would answer the question. People looked at me like wtf? Then they would say oh man..he is really stoned. I can truly tell you that if I was a musician I could not have performed to save my life. I had to be escorted home and put to bed. Otherwise I would have never made it home, hard to tell where I would have wound up. I lay in bed for 18 hours and saw skulls snapping at me most of that time. Oh yes. I can totally relate.

Nobody like Jerry out there. Wasnt then and there isnt now. He was truly singular in his approach and the combination of influences and factors that made him who he was. Theres nobody out there being what Jerry Garcia was. LSD will open you up in the biggest way
