@@JamesGurney Is there a projected release date? How soon can I blow into my local bookstore, scattering James Patterson novels everywhere, slam money down on the counter and demand, "We wants it, precious!"

@@JamesGurneyI was fortunate enough to have a chance to read the original book I borrowed from a library. It was well worn with pages falling out. I desperately wanted to keep it and just pay the fine but alas I ended up sending it back. 😢 So glad to see I can soon have a shiny new copy! Thanks James!

100% getting all of those books. When I was little my brother and I would alternate who checked out "Dinotopia" from the library. He would have it one month, I had it the next. We did that for a few years so we would always have a copy of it. I'm 38 now. A few years ago I found a copy of Dinotopia at a used book store and bought it for my brother as a Christmas present. He cried when he opened it. James, you're an art hero and an inspiration.

I’m very excited about all these upcoming projects! But I have to leave a special comment about the song at the end of the video. When I was a small child my grandpa and uncle used to play that tune on banjo and fiddle and they’re both gone now. That brought a very happy memory to my mind! Do you happen to know what that tune is called? Thank you and excited for the new books and sub stack!

Jim, like so many others, you are an artistic gift to many. I have said it many times before that it is a happy thought of mine to shake your hand over a meal, and talk shop. It is just a dream though, and it has been, since I discovered your work back when I was in elementary late elementary. I am 37 now, bought a few of your books, which includes one my wife bought with your signature for me on my birthday last year; it had made me break down in tears of joy. I may never get the chance to see that dream out, but my ambition lives in my own art. You inspired me to become a graphic designer of which I fulfilled in 2018 after so many failures. And now, my turn for hard study is taking shape for those other dreams I have. You are a monument to my generation, and I hope your family, your friends, and your own close inspirations empower you and your family even father now with your masters experience in the traditional arts. I thank you Jim. Your life's story is always an incredibly fantastical experience.

Always great to see a upload from ya James. I definitely gtotta find time to start painting again, now that were approaching our warmer spring/summer months again with longer days for drying as well. Amazing news on the upcoming books and the reprint as well. If it weren't for discovering you and your channel through proko back in 2015-16. I probably wouldn't have taken the chance on giving painting class a try at my college this past spring. I paintined ever since class ended twice a month ever since it ended making at least 58 paintings for end of 2022. I do mostly abstract and I might dabble back into enviorment's this year again and lifestyle studies and give those another shot. Thanks for being a inspiration to my creativity james. :)

*Mr Gurney* I cannot believe when I suggested to you that you write a book on gouache painting, that you would be able to write it so quickly. I am so excited to see the acquired wealth of knowledge you have gathered over your lifetime of learning this medium and find it within this tomb of imparted wisdom. If it is as informative and easy to understand as your other amazing books on colour and imagination, it will definitely be a masterpiece, and I am sure it will end up being just as successful and well received as your others, since there will just be information, tutorials, knowledge and amazing art, all without any "faff". It always makes me smile when I watch any art video, and see just how many working artists have your books on their shelves, and count your book on colour as being one of the most influential, helpful, incitefull, and easy to understand books they have ever read. It is always ( 99 out of 100 times ) picked as one of the books that most influenced them or taught them the most, and is one they would choose if they could only have 5 books to learn from, or 10 books that taught them the most, or they are in a top 10 of recommend books for others to learn from. Your existing books have influenced, educated and taught so many artists, professionals and amateurs - they are your legacy for future generations of artist, and I am sure this book on gouache will be highly sought after as well. I am so looking forward to reading it and owning it, but will we be able to purchase signed copies from you yourself ? I would still love to be the owner of the first copy, along with your signature, as I requested some time ago, and am very hopeful this could still happen. So thank you for listening to us and writing this new book, it's so very needed, wanted and ďesired.

I subscribed, and I'm especially excited about your gouache book! In case you say his name in the next video, Jay Leno's last name is pronounced "LEHN-oh," not "LEAN-oh." It does NOT rhyme with "Reno." The first syllable rhymes with "Ben" or "Ken" or "men." I respect that you don't watch enough TV to know how to say his name. ;)

I think I most enjoyed the video(s) you made on painting things that don't exist (Fantasy) and dinosaurs; especially Tyranno. Maybe a video on how to paint sci-fi things. Maybe with inspiration from real life locations. Sci-fi art is so full of contrasting colour and light.
