I’ve noticed a change in my reviews over the past week: all 5 stars, super sweet, happy, positive, and appreciative comments. It’s as if Etsy shut down the accounts of the negative people! 😂 It reminds me of the old Etsy and it’s such a nice change of pace!

Localization hurts a lot of shops. I wish they would let us choose which geographical regions we want to emphasize.

It is devastating to an all digital shop. The main reason I switched to a digital shop was so people could access my items easily around the world. What is the point if they are only going to show my items locally?

The reason they do it is to shorten shipping time, though, so that wouldn't work.

@@KaraBuntin I understand why they want to do it. But it doesn't help us or them when our product doesn't sell in the localised markets. Our products sell better in other areas of the country. If we're not selling in their "localised" area, it doesn't matter how short the shipping time is. It just costs us sales and the income benefits of being able to sell nationwide. It's penny wise, pound foolish. Also, rural areas don't benefit from this approach because we lack the population base.

The "buy more and save" badge that I'm being shown in my shop is for listings that already are set up with quantity discounts within variations. So if I have a variation for quantity, I might have 10 charms for $5 or 20 charms for $9. They didn't require me to set up any sales in order to apply the badge. Here's what it says when I go to select listings to add: "Looks like these listings use variations to offer a lower price when someone buys more of the same item. Choose a listing to confirm you offer this discount, and we’ll add a “Buy more & save” badge. It's important not to mislead buyers. Don't add this badge to listings that don't offer quantity-based discounts."

Of course, Etsy has only identified 7 out of over 100 listings that I have already set up with quantity discounts. (And I cannot add listings that qualify unless Etsy has offered them.) But they aren't trying to coerce people into creating discounts that don't already exist.

Letting bots do this is just going to mean that a lot of mistakes are being made, but that's how it is now.

You mentioned that videos have to be eight seconds long minimum. I have been loading four second videos successfully. Etsy loops them at least 10 times.

I missed any discussion of the new listing manager. I keep having errors when editing, duplicating my listings accidently by publishing twice, posting listings with quantity ZERO, I can't figure out how to link photos to variations? Since it goes into effect permanently June 25th can you discuss this in a live?

There's not really a lot to say about it that will make a difference...If it's glitchy the best thing to do is to post about the things that you're seeing in the Technical Issues section of the Etsy forums so that they'll know what to look at and what needs to be fixed.

If reviews don't have names on them, how would you know the best way to respond to a negative review? I may have sold the same item as the review is about to 10 different people in the past few weeks.

WHen you respond to a review it's not to specifically answer the person's comments, it's to show the people who come along and read the review later how you respond to bad situations. Address the review itself, it doesn't matter who wrote it, and show people that you do have ways to handle customer service so that they know you'd try to help them if they had a problem.

QUESTION Kara have you ever considered an instructional video on how to do listing videos? I tried to figure it out twice but the Seller Handbook is so vague. "Listing videos for Dummies" 😂

I could, it's not hard. I think that people assume the videos have to be really fancy but they don't.

The fact that they forced a grey message box in as your second listing photo is total bs. I spend time on my mockups and arrange them to tell a story. Now I have this eyesore as my second image that completely takes the customer out of the experience. My product does not need nor would not benefit from a video. Not happy about this.

?? Do you think a temporary payment reserve can also affect your shop score for the duration of it being placed?

It's possible if it was placed for a reason related to risky behavior.

@@KaraBuntin I believe that it was because my shop was new (just opened January this year) and have not been getting many sales. When contacted to Etsy, they said that it is a common practice for online platform like them to do this for new accounts. But I was just wondering because during the time I was on reserve, my sales went even worse 😓

@@ayakaganig They've said that open cases against your shop can affect your search placement, so I wouldn't be surprised if other things like reserves also affect it.

FYI and I’m done with the request a video thing except to make videos so this is not permanent ….when I went to ck my shop this morn the request a video was second frame and there were no other photos at all !!!! Half an hour later the photos were after video request were back. Wow a bit more than a nudge To be clear…no photos after the request a video frame…. FYI I was able to turn still photos into a video hoping that will be satisfactory?????

Speaking of wedding cakes, my son & daughter-in-law was in the midst of the reception dinner & the serving team realized the cake was missing. The cake baker forgot about it. 🥹 She finally showed up with a cake. ☹️
