Hello Peter, There has been a lot of fuss about the new 17th at Hoylake,I am a member of Saunton G.C. North Devon where the (so called )designer,of the new 17th i.e. Martin Ebert has done a lot of work in the past.I can inform you that the 5th at Saunton is virtually the same as the new 17 th at Hoylake i.e. Plateau green with riveted bunkers at all sides.I would love someone to interview Mr Ebert and ask how he came up with his new hole at Hoylake.

Hey Pete little off topic but you talk about playing royal Troon a lot have you ever thought about playing it’s sister course Portland also a pretty good round.

Doesn’t have the grandness? Many are the same on the rota like Royal Troon, Royal Lytham, Royal St George.

We went to the open practice yesterday, watched cam smith, p reed, Michelson, finau and cam young etc play 17 into a strong headwind. That hole is going to cause chaos, P Reed & Mickelson both flew the green. But at the same time cam smith and others made it look nothing, it will cause a swing for sure

They are driven for two minutes to and from the range to the course

The fcast isn’t good , it’s going to have wind 💨 which in 06 and 14 it didn’t have , it’s going to be Hoylakes toughest test for the players so it’s going to be great ⛳️⛳️👍👍👍the new 17th par 3 is going to cause carnage in the wind
