It's never said it's radiation specifically, the Rose could be an actual nuke or just have nuke-like parallels. Either way yeah, Japan takes those things seriously, if there ever was a way for humanity to kill the King it'd be a nuke.

He did everything in his power to strip the king of his humanity, but to no avail. Right before he died, what he feared most happened before his eyes, he was the only one of the royal guards to witness Meruem abandoning his duties as king and prioritizing komugi above all (when he overlooked welfin's blatant offence for the sake of knowing the lost memory of komugi).

You're right, but between the distinctive shape of the explosion and the ongoing effects of exposure to the 'fallout', I do feel like it's meant to be an analogue for nuclear weapons, just without outright calling it a 'nuclear bomb'. Of course, we've also got chemicals with some pretty hideous effects in real life, too, so it could have just been intended to be a straight-up chemical weapon.

@@ZaberFangAT Any big explosion can cause the mushroom cloud (not that one specifically, its impossible to form a flower like that lol). Actually, there are paintings of them from the 18th century. Yes, the "fallout", the popularity, the banning also, were similar to nuclear weapons. They are analogues but very different in ability, with the Rose really being more close to a big dirty bomb, inferior to most of the weakest of nuclear weapons tested. It really frightens me how HxH put the perspective of our lethality by killing the strongest villain with a mass produced and cheap weapon while there are more powerful weapons being used on other humans in the same world and in real life.

Given Japan's history with them, it's undoubtedly meant to call to mind the image of a nuke's mushroom cloud (even if other bombs can make them, they're famously tied to nukes), and the poison again is made to make us think of radiation poisoning - but you're right that they never call it radiation poisoning, all we get it it's a type of poison. It is figuratively a nuke, not literally one.

Wouldn't that be Pouf? He developed every lower ranked ant's abilities that came to them for help, and managed to help them develop complex abilities in short periods of time. Pitou just made like, 3 different puppets (One to fix people, one to control people and one to control herself), meanwhile Pouf also has at least 3 different abilities, one to read people's mental states, one to hypnotize people and one to rearrange his body to make clones.

@@WolforNuva cause I think a lot of his abilities are non nen, just capability of his own genes (like youpi, who can morf because he has genes of magical beasts). Though what you said about helping other to developed their abilities it’s true, I think pitou could have done it too but her job was to surround the place cause she had the best En and also pouf abilities to sense other emotions worked really well with unlocking other’s abilities. They are both really good but I think the fact that Pitou is an specialist and also was the first to actually know the knowledge of nen gives her an upper hand.

@@owancubillos6496 Nen powers get names, natural abilities tend to not. Spiritual Message (which does both the mental reading and hypnosis) and Beelzebub (his cloning power) are both named. Spiritual Message also got copied into the King when he used En, so that's undoubtedly Nen, and Beelzebub I think is pretty clearly a Nen power too, we don't see it as an established thing early on like Youpi's shapeshifting, and it's even more clearly supernatural. Youpi in fact only had odd powers from birth because he was made with magical beasts, something only Youpi is said to have included in him. Pouf is just shown using Nen in more different ways, and interacting with it more. He might have less aura as indicated by his En, but his technique with Nen otherwise seems much greater. Pitou on the other hand had all of Specialization open to her, and she doesn't even make any Specialized abilities.

Apart from helping the other Ants develop their own Hatsus in days, Beelzebub was cooked up in the moment inside the cocoon, deliberately and specifically to escape Chain Jail, which is an insane feat of adaptability and aura manipulation. Though in matters where Pitou had intense interest like in messing with people's bodies, she probably dominates Pouf with that singular feline focus.

its not about being the best. In that moment pitou wanted nothing more than to stop gon from reaching meruem. Thats why pitous post mortem nen activates.

HxH is my fav anime of all time but I think in Parasyte anime the strongest character in that anime was killed from some rust in a human garbage dump and I find those kind of deaths poetic in both Hxh and parasyte

I love how the world functions within its own scale, this is not dragonball and the peak of power we have seen so far is meruem, like he can blow up a whole mountain with a single attack but a nuke is just a different level of power and destruction and the horror of radiation, the weaponized destruction on a cellular level is actually a real thing in our world, just weaponized horror and to think this existing object is able to kill the strongest character in this battle shounen feels really odd at first but it does make sense and the more you think about it it really just enhances the horror of war and atomic weapons etc. Eventough nen can do crazy things, it simply can't reach smth like atomic bombs or atleast not in its destructiveness which is also why the hunter association is not ruling the world and instead a small gatekept elite level association that eventough its powerfull and impactfull it still has to bow to the higher ups who hold military might that outweighs the strength of nen by soooo much. It feels weird in a way but it makes sense and just solidifies the world building even more, hxh has an incredibly level of "realism" in its fictional world and I love that so much it just literally feels like a functional world eventough we barely get any episodes dedicated to this form of world building, it's just sprinkled in with these small things throughout the entire series. Man I just love hxh... Im a glazer fr
