This franchise is so fucking cool. Im still hoping for like a 4 player co-op RPG with the Horsemen fighting along side one another

Darksiders 1 and 2 ARE greatness. Two of the best 7th gen titles without a doubt.

I loved Darksiders 2. Mowing through enemies as Death and being able to make different builds was a cool concept. Though the time investment needed to optimize the RNG gear was a bit much. The main thing that the Darksiders has going for it in my opinion is the Rule of Cool. Pretty much everything just looks cool. • Absolute unit of a man in heavy armor using impossibly large ulra-greatsword to mash enemies to bits, transforming into an even bigger fiery monster for more carnage? Dauym. • Faceless (masked), Metal AF, ripped, emo dude dual-wielding sickles that merge into a giant scythe, attacking in a mad frenzy to mow down swaths of foes, before turning into a grim reaper with an even bigger scythe to impale even the largest monsters? Sick. • Woman in full plate armor with very prominent flaming hair and glowing eyes with a flaming sword whip that can transform into other weapons, and who also has a giant flaming transformation? Lit. • Dual-gun slinger in what looks like a suit of sci-fi armor, almost fused into their flesh with the way one can't quite tell where the armor ends and their flesh begins, who then transforms into a giant horned demon with a giant gun arm? The franchise has never lacked inspired artists. The art, character design, and worlds / environments they've built absolutely ooze Rule of Cool. But I do see that need for the need to clear the final hurdle. To find their own "thing" instead of just copying and being inspired by what a bunch of other games have already done, reskinned under the Darksiders franchise of paint.

Unpopular opinion: the darksiders needs to have their quality remastered, and re-distributed with tons of marketing.

Darksiders 2, imo, was the best direction in the franchise, loot system aside. It certainly felt more unique than 1 or 3, being able to switch up movesets with different weapons, the different worlds you go to, and of course, Death as a character is *chef’s kiss*

The gameplay aspect is so amazing Each horseman is unique Each game is unique Each play style is unique So their combat Must be unique I don't know what to name it But i just call it a Multiplay style It just works for the series Imagine play 4 different horsemen who play the exact same way It would be the same game every time Nothing is stopping it from greatness the people are not ready for this type of game a multplay series When strife gets his own game he is gonna be a Long range/Close range specialist with magic When we get darksiders apocalypse or something i hope they integrate all the different play styles and functions War is a swordmaster of his blade and uses magic to enhance it Death is a jack of all trades with magic and Scythes and a master of it Fury is a wild card with a mastery of all weapons and goes insane with raw magic power dealing massive amounts of damage And strife is a long rang/Close range specialist with magic

Darksiders was a hack and slash gem along with games like Dragon's Dogma and Kingdoms of Amalur. They would get overshadowed by games like God of War, Dark Souls, and despite not having the greatest combat Skyrim was around the corner. PS3/Xbox360 era just had some great action RPGs overall.

They managed to make 4 great games, congrats

Always been curious about this franchise, but never gotten into it. Looks like a good series to keep in mind for cold winter months with nothing good to do.

I mainly only watch your videos of games I've played, but I just wanted to say that your channel is highly underrated. Very few gaming news channels create documentations of a game's history, particularly the ones who have failed or fallen apart to never get a sequel, Yet these still give me hope and insight as to what happened and that many fans still care about these great discontinued games.

Darksiders II was my introduction to this Series and Ohh Boy what A Game it was truly masterpiece...For some reasons Death is my Fav Gaming Protagonist of all Time

I think it’s it’s chameleonic, trend-chasing nature. I like everything Darksiders apes, and I do like Darksiders. However, it never sticks with any gameplay styles for long enough to fully evolve them and make them its own, nor does it match the heights of Zelda, Prince of Persia, Soulsborne, or Devil May Cry/God of War.

The first DS expertly mashed the dungeon exploration of Zelda with the combat of God of War...but then II added the dumb MMO-style random loot drops. I just want to open a chest and get a cool weapon or tool that will help me beat the dungeon, not the 52nd version of a weapon already clogging my inventory, just with a higher rarity and slightly better stats.

Never finished the 3rd one. I didn't like it as much as the other 2

What I love about the series is how each game is different. DS4 is about strife hence it's going to be a shooter. I just hope Gunfire games develop it based in their work on the Remnant series.

I sometimes just enjoy thinking and remembering playing it, the best game I've every played in my life, maybe one day Darksiders IIII will see the light.

Absolutely love this series, especially the art direction and character design of Joe Madureira (check out his comic Battle Chasers). 2 is my personal favourite, but they are all good.

My issue with the series is they couldn't maintain a genre. While DS2 seemed to build on the previous, 3 shifted a bit too much and Genesis was way off, but since it wasn't a numbered I guess that's ok, but it was the 4th rider.

The Darksiders series greatest strength has always been is its greatest weakness. It's absolute disregard for conventional game development guard-rails; thanks to the anthology of genres the series is known for and the only connective tissue between games being vague retconnable lore, stellar voice acting, and a handful of great characters, the risk the latest entry in the series might not be for you by way of the anthology kiss of death idea that people will think " _I don't know about this one, maybe I'll wait for the next one, that might be more my speed_ ". I know I wasn't sold on the third game, it took me a while to warm up to the third game's whole deal. I am glad I helped Fury find her humanity, but it did admittedly take a while.

whats holding it back? the fact that they refuse to move on with the story and keep retelling the same exact event from different angles. Let it sink in that the ending of the first game is actually the most recent event chronologically. They teased a massive war oriented sequel and then sat on it for so long the company itself restructured. Then they shat out whatever DS3 was supposed to be.

i love this series, i always revisit. i dont get why it struggles in the market, but if im to guess, i think its as simple as its name. When i first saw the game being revealed i saw its gothic art style and the name "darksiders" made me think you play as bad guys doing bad things, and so my impression was bad. Years later of course i played darksiders 2 first and loved it, great atmosphere which i love, which led me to then finish the first game.

Darksiders 1 was amazing. Darksiders 2 was a masterpiece. Darksiders 3.... is where things go wrong. Darksiders 2 improved upon the existing formula of Darksiders 1, but Darksiders 3 scrapped most of that formula to become a soulslike game. While that is not inherently bad, what they replaced it with was just extremely simple and uninspired. Darksiders 2 embraced a sort-of RPG style gameplay, allowing you to customize Death's fighting style, choosing between melee combat or Necromancy (or somewhere in-between), focusing on specific stats such as wrath generation or health regen, etc. While I'll admit I was non-too-keen on the looter-style progression, I do enjoy being able to get new weapons as I see fit. Another issue - albeit one I'm probably the only person who cares about - is that Fury was always styled as the "mage" of the group. What we got instead was perhaps the least mage-like of the four, as Fury's wrath bar was only good for one casting of any ability (and as far as I know increasing its size was useless for one-shot abilities), so unlike War and Death, who could be built quite extensively around the use of wrath powers, Fury was designed specifically to specialize in melee combat with wrath abilities being more of an afterthought. I cannot understand why this choice was made, when they could have gone the same path as Death and given us multiple talent trees, allowing Fury to be built around melee combat or wrath abilities in much the same way Death was, other than that they had a very specific idea of how they wanted Fury to be played, and didn't really want people to deviate away from that. Darksiders 3 is a cautionary tale of wasted potential. Darksiders Genesis..... exists. I admit I have a bias against those kinds of games so I might not be the best person to ask about its quality, but it's not one that interests me very much.

Even though I don’t really like Souls games I did enjoy Darksiders III because it still felt like Darksiders to me I’m really looking forward to a Darksiders IV

Darksiders Genesis is the only one I've played. Beautiful ost. Satisfying combat. Decent setting and somewhat memorable characters. I probably won't play the original classics cuz I really dislike hack n slash. I just prefer the souls style of combat more. I'm hoping against hope they do another like genesis.

i just wish a no souls combat and no rpg mechanics for 4th entry, and ill be glad (retain Darksiders 1 combat and enhance it, take some from darksiders 2 fluidity and take the 4 dpad weapon slots from darksiders 3)

Darksider 1 and 2 ARE greatness! And the art took direct inspiration from WoW Darksiders 2 released with ridiculous amounts of microtransactions. In Deathinitive Edition, theyre the gold weapons. In the original release, they were sold individually, in a time when gamers were still against microtransactions

I bought DS1 due entirely to its beautiful concept art. If memory serves me correctly, the game suffered from a lack of a New Game Plus mode, a mandatory upgrade system, and the uselessness of the bonus weapons. In God of War, the player is in total control of upgrades, all the bonus weapons are unique, and New Game Plus mode allows for tons of replayabiltiy.

I don't think Darksiders 3 was terrible, but if they ever make a Darksiders 4, I'm one of those people who would prefer they went back to being a 'God of War clone' than a 'Darksouls clone'.

I’m sick of waiting for the conclusion story.. We already have Strife’s introduction. That’s what genesis was for. Make the conclusion already… DARKSIDERS 4… I know how to make it the best story, and video game ever made… I’m just saying… I know HOW you should START the game… let me play as STRYFE first, and let me fight Abaddon the Antichrist, with dual daggers, let me start out by chasing him on a horse in like how the second game started out.. but make me LOSE when I get to the BOSSFIGHT… and because it takes place BEFORE the first game, After LOSING with the introductory combat system, and show how stryfe lost his guns… do a close up of Abaddons DRAGON FORM, make a camera go INTO his eye, … and then zoom out, all the sudden we are playing as WAR fighting Abaddon at the top of the tower again and continue the story from THEN ON…. Remake THAT BOSSFIGHT, yes. Darksiders 4 will be the best game every made. We just need the level design from Darksiders 3.. and the combat and exploration system from the second game.. Open areas but only sometimes like Darksiders 2… I love the Metroidvania elements from the 3rd entry.. The combat, I want it to feel closer to a DMC game like the second game was.. especially for STRYFE’S case. Dark souls was only important for level design aspect. Hopefully the game isn’t missionbased and you can switch between characters at vulgrim serpent holes.

When I first played Darksiders I thought "geez this is a GoW2 clone with better movement" loved DS1 and 2. 3 is weak. I always find it amazing when studios make a great game, then a great sequel, then instead of keeping with what's working, they eff up changing combat systems, itemization, and art.

I really liked 1 & 2.....2 was so much better though. Wish they would of stuck with that formula. 3 sucked, and i didn't even bother w/ Genesis.

Darksiders 1 was good, 2 was grwat....then 3 was just a 4 steps backwards. I didn't even bother w/ Genesis. I'm not a fan of Diablo or that camera style.

I liked DS1. 2 was good but it felt like it was open and empty. 3 I hated the combat. It felt like 90% of what I was doing was dodge/counter attacking I did not like Genesis because it felt lazy. Instead of a devil may cry style they went with a diablo knock off. I want to see a game where all four horsemen are together but I want it to be dmc style. Not diablo. I love the setting and want it to continue. Even the book Abomination Vault was good.

I wasn't a fan of Darksiders 2. Seemed more generic than the original Darksiders. I thought the series lost traction after the original game.

Calling the story of Darksiders 3 the series highpoint took by surprise. For me it's the lowpoint and my biggest gripe with the third game. A monster of the week scenario with to little of its character growth happening offscreen for it to make sense. It lacks the grandious, apocalyptic scale of and ties back to its predecessors.

I am just playing DS1 for the first time and while the story is interesting gameplay is not. There are swabs of nothing but walking through coridors, combat is not as responsive and varied as it could have been, platforming is annoying, puzzles while not complicated are often obscured by bad visual design, one of the worst long range targeting systems i ever had a displeasure of using. All of these things make it just another average game.

Well, that game was maded by normies. What you expected.

Darksiders 2 is impeccable. They screwed the IP by making DS3 a souls ripoff. Such a mistake.

Q: What is holding Darksiders from greatness? A: Bland and incredibly generic cteature design, shallow themes and flat characters, boring and button mashy gameplay, poor enemy variety.
