Awesome video, Roman! Your explanation at the beginning about your profession and the importance of redundancy in your equipment was really helpful. It's clear that you invest a lot in your gear, but you also made it clear that not everyone needs that level of equipment. Keep up the great work!

For sure! Honestly I hate having this much gear… and I didn’t even mention 2 extra lenses which come with me for more nature themed trips. Perhaps in the future and over time I can slim it down further

Great video as always Roman, redundancy in all businesses is very important and you have it well covered, good message at the start explaining you do this for a living and that is why you invest heavily in having this level of redundancy in your kit bag. And also pointing out that it’s not necessary for everyone to have this level of equipment 👍

As always informative and inspiring. I particularly appreciated your discussion of the lenses. Often one is led to believe that only prime lenses or only zoom lenses are it ! But it is horses for courses - and I found that the course may change during a trip. Zoom 24-200 for daytime „touristy“ shooting, grab shots out of cabs etc. And the fast prime lenses for situations where i want to be less noticeable or for nighttime.

I have been watching your street photography channel for a while now, and noticed you b(r)ought the XF 90mm with you to Istanbul for street. I can understand the appeal to shoot from across the street and all that. The shots are great (sharp and telephoto look : bokeh and compression), btw.😍 But obviously the XF90mm will not work as well if you were to go in and out of building (too long for indoor shoot, I think)... So I am eagerly waiting for your "XF90mm for street review" vlog!

Hi Roman, are you not tempted to use the Sigma 18-35 F1.8? It is basically like having 3 primes in one lens, F1.8 is almost as good as F1.4 and as you know the zooms are so practical. Yes it's bigger, but not bigger than 18mm, 23mm, 33mm combined.

Be careful with the MINIX charger, mine blew up in Romania last year and it was my only charger that I had. So yeah, it was not fun finding chargers in a foreign country when you are backpacking. Luckily, I bought it off Amazon, so I had no troubles replacing it.

@@snapsbyfox Yes redundancy is so important. Anker makes the 737 charger, looks very similar, but it is just a bit bigger, more expensive and you can not change the prongs. By writing „blew up“ I meant it for real, they started smoking and I saw a small flame. Luckily non of my connected devices got killed.

Interesting lens setup, do you sometimes miss an 85mm equiv.? I feel like the 135mm is too long for some occasions and I would then like to have something in the middle of the 50 and 135
@snapsbyfox
@snapsbyfox Жыл бұрын
I found the 85 awkward personally. I found that it was either too long or not long enough Also I can easily crop my 50mm to 85mm especially on the higher res sensor. But it’s just trial and error and depends on use case. Not to mention my 24-70 comes in handy if i need that focal length

Thank you for these videos. I’m torn between the X-H2S & X-T5. I’m 90% stills but YT has me fearing ISO 3200+ from the X-T5 while I’ve owned the X-H2S and love it. Would LOVE the additional resolution but not if it comes at cost of noticeably worse noise at 3200+.

If I did a video like this... I think I would have to do a "whats in my gear drawer", "what backpack options do I have" and "what do I take with me when I do X". Travel is always hard... but it's important to pack based on what you think you will shoot and just live with it. I have an upcoming 2 week trip to Hawaii. My key photo gear will go in the Wardrd Prvke 31L (great backpack in terms of travel / flexibility). Sony FF system with 16-35, 24-70, 100-400 and 35mm prime (can't be without a 35mm prime anywhere!). I will have a Sony RX100 VI as a backup (but will take if there are days I want to be super light), and my Mrs will have a Sony ASPC 18-135, and 50mm Macro. This loadout is great in terms of flexibility (and of course we get dual use and backup between my and my wife). In different locations I would probably opt for more primes (I have a bunch) and forego ultra wide angle and tele zoom... but in a place where you can be shooting anything from astro to wildlife... choosing zooms is my jam for this trip.
@snapsbyfox
@snapsbyfox Жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s much easier to pack for specific trips rather than endless travel. For example if I also was going to Iceland or any nature focused place, id have my ultra wide and telephoto lenses too. Probably some thermals and waterproof trousers. They will all fit in but now even more weight

Hey Thank you for your informative videos. Do you have an idea how I can best find out what camera will be best for me? I am doing a lot of research but I am really overwhelmed about all the informations and can't really sort it. I am living in Sri Lanka don't have a very high income but I can and have already saved a little money (just saying that I am limited in Budget) I know that buying cheap often means buying twice that's why I want to safe money but I also don't want to spend all my money for things that are unnecessary. I am not completely beginner. I am using my Olympus Pen PL-7 for about 7 years now I have a Zoom Lens (MFT 14-150mm 1;4-5.6) and two Prime (45mm 1:1.8) and (17mm 1:1.8) ... I actually love these cameras and lenses but after 7 years I feel slowly this camera slowly wants her retirement. I want to have two cameras one for vlogging and some video. For me personally my GoPro is enough for that. but I also want a camera and lens who is making nice detailed Videos or little cinematic videos (what will not be possible for the GoPro) but also I love to make pictures street photography but also landscape and nature. It's not my main income and I know I can't have always everything but I really have no idea how to get all the thousands of informations sorted to find the best camera and lenses for me. I would also Use the lenses I already have but no idea if it makes sense. Can maybe someone help me with some ideas how I can make a good decision for my situation? Thanks a lot in advance
