Interesting tear down. As far as parts nomenclature, the spinning part is call a rotor and the coils around it is the stator. The first part that has fins is the regulator and the semicircular part is the diode rectifier that changes AC to DC. Fun exercise, but without specialized test gear no repair is possible. More info is available if you're interested, like converting 3 phase AC to DC. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for taking time to share that info, I don't rebuild these at all I tear them down to show everyone what is inside and make a video. I'm not up-to-date on the terminology or how they exactly work together, thank you for covering some parts that way it's easier for anyone who might have a question I can't answer!

Excellent tare down! I'd suggest calling nuts, nuts. If you want a generic term, call them fasteners. If you went to a hardware store and asked for a bolt, you'd get a bolt.

That's a good tip when making videos my mouth gets ahead of my brain and I get mixed up like that but I like the term fastner i might just say that from now on thank you!

Part you're calling a dio-trill is a rectifier. Changes AC current to DC.

Thank you I don't rebuild alternators so I don't know the technical lingo.

In 1972 when I entered the industry we seldom replaced entire alternators. We stocked parts for most common GM and Ford units in our shop. Local parts stores had plenty of repair parts as well. This was up till the 2000’s. Shiny cases and “Lifetime “ warranties did away with that practice.

I came into the field when that was phased out. It has always been rebuilt units in a box in my career, now they are making more new units in a box which are priced just a couple bucks more compared to rebuilt ones. The part's industry has changed a lot over the years!
