Totally agree. I see so many (likely young kids) on tiktok and elsewhere that thing the only good car is one with 600 or more horsepower but they don't understand that those cars are largely unusable on normal roads. I have so much fun ripping around in my 260 whp wrx and probably 140-150 whp prelude because of the way the feel and sound not really because they're so fast

Best "mod" for nearly any 10+ year old car is going to be a comprehensive bushing refresh. I'd love to know how many cars rolling around on fancy coilovers with dead bushings.

Great video, and you guys really nailed the true character of this car. It’s so refreshing after hearing so many others bash the 308/328 cars. About that steering wheel - little known fact, but the steering column actually does have a small amount of adjustment available by loosening two bolts on a clamp that is directly under the steering wheel, moving the wheel down as desired, and re-tightening them. It’s a ten minute job. I’m about 6’4”, so I also added a small spacer between the wheel and the hub. With the moved steering column and the small spacer, the wheel is perfectly positioned when I’m driving the car. It’s a complete game changer.

Delighted for you Matt. I had a 3.2 Mondial and concur they are a sublime highway cruiser. 80-90 mph feels phenomenal in modern traffic. I now have a 308 GT4 and it’s very similar. Not quite as precise on the 14 inch wheels, but still terrific. And it’s got carbs :-)

Such a cool post... It sent me back a lot of years seeing this and hearing the motor. When I was a kid the 308 and the 328 were incredibly rare and the sexiest cars on the road that I knew of. I got to 'touch' (one finger, ya really) a real Ferarri as a 12 year old back then. Still magical to see them. Considering what people have done in the car business since then, this is now more of a 'pedestrian' car, but it's still gorgeous, a small displacement v8, a gated manual gearbox and will generate a lot of smiles per gallon. Well done Matt! Enjoy it.

Congrats Matt, hope you have many years of joy with it. My 1983 308 GTSi (silver/burgundy int) was one of the most fun cars I’ve ever owned, miss that car. My GT4RS is halfway across the Atlantic due into the port at Davisville this Saturday. If its half as much fun as the old 308 it’ll be worth it.

Great video. Reminds me of my '79 308 (carbs). It wasn't pristine in any way, had about as many miles as yours and was 16 y.o. when I bought it. Bought it as a driver, and it got driven. Triple digits for long periods was a breeze. But parts were expensive, and I shopped for a mechanic before I shopped for a car. Great memories.

A properly setup classic Ferrari is so special to experience. This video gives excellent insights from an owner and are a direct reflection to how I feel about my F355. They ride surprisingly great all of the time. Like floating on a cloud. Ferrari made really special cars meant for driving. Many got a bad name due to neglect and lack of critical maintenance, bushings being important on that list.

Seems finding that one person who not only knows what they're doing to your car. BUT CARES about the outcome Yupper Money well spent!! Your so right about forking bucks out and wondering about the outcome, when you find that one car you always wanted and don't have an honest place to do all the stuff you can't. It becomes a barn find or yard art. Matt scored on that one, so nice to see the end results after all that was needed!

I personally love a 328!! To me it's just a beautiful car! I love the 308 of course because of Magnum P.I. We all grew up with that show and seeing that car in beautiful Hawaii tearing up the roads over there and the Priests in Cannonball Run.. lol. Between those cars and the Countach, a kids dream. So when the 328 came out it was an updated look to the 308. I know they can't perform like the newer cars but many would not keep that kind of iconic historical look. A car to leisurely enjoy.
