My Grandmother sold Studio Girl and Avon Cosmetics anything that supported a woman being able to earn an independent living. She also collected perfume bottles from everywhere. When she passed she left them to me she already had them packed up in boxes and hidden away for me. I was the only one in the family who wore and appreciated fragrance. She knew I would also appreciate them. I have never cared about financial value only that my grandmother loved me enough to share her special treasures with me. When I smell them they remind me of her.

Glad I didn't sell any of dad's Avon!! Kept them all in their bottles, in boxes, mostly cars. Couldn't get rid of the lot 30 yrs ago, just packed them into a big box, transported them everywhere!

Anything is only worth what someone is willing to pay and depends on how bad they want it.

And since she found it on Google for $12 with the box, I'll venture to guess that the good doc is wrong. In other words, if you can get it for 12 with box, where does she off saying a box is only worth 6? So now this 12 dollar item ends up at $59 with no box. I think this young girl knows the appraiser is wrong. You are correct, you can say its worth $500, but if someone is only going to pay 12 with a box, then your appraisal is meaningless.

@@kimkearney5419 Did the young lady find the same bottle or a "similar" bottle? did she find a price for a '70s bottle or the same bottle made in the 00s? I do books. Many eBay people misdescribe the books they are selling.

Yes. As single price may be misleading. But if you find a market, say ebay, and what many similar items sell for, you have a market price. If the steamboat has sold for $50 to $80 10 times in the past 6 months, year, etc., it is a $65 bottle.

I really love the old Avon fragrances. Some of them can be smelly, but it can smell different on the skin as opposed to sitting in the bottle (well I think so anyway). You can still get them fairly cheap and they are good value when you compare it to modern day pricing to new fragrances.

I always find great deals at yard sales; got the Avon parakeet for $1 and full bottles of "miniature" perfumes (Oscar de la Renta, Charles of the Ritz, Escada, Halston, Red, Lancome, Colours, Estee Lauder, Chopard, L'air du Temps) and a vintage Hollywood Regency brass tray... all for $5

I gave my grandmother Charisma in the cardinal bottle. We opened presents early, 3 days later she was in the hospital, and she died 6 days before Christmas. My mother has that bottle and I am getting it back when she is gone. The smell is my grandmother. 💕💐

My grandpa had the pheasant with " Wild Country " and he wore it to the bar after work. Back in the 60"s - 70"s .I thought gramps was so handsome and smelled so good. But then we Worshipped the ground he walked on. My sister & ,I faught over who got to rub his back first when he came home from a 12 hour shift a the Factory. ( Union Carbide., largest furnace in the country ) North Eastern Ohio. ❤️What Wonderful memories 💙 Regards Brenda

🤔I have some “old” perfume from the 80’s , I find the smell actually intensified, it’s stronger than when I first got it, they aged in my opinion like a good old whiskey 😬

Do you remember EXCLAMATION! ? It was in a black and white bottle. Often sold at a Walgreens or CVS etc. Oh, and Guess, and Liz Claiborne. The triangle bottle with a red, mustard yellow, and blue blocks or pin strips. I can't remember. Just some fun reminiscing...

annland I did have Liz Claiborne , mostly Avon and Beverly Hills or Opium . Nowadays you have to be careful wearing perfume past 1 drop , which is with a good perfume all you need , but many people have allergies and the smell on others alone makes them sick 🤷🏼‍♀️

Konga 5000 😳 wow you are a treasure trove of knowledge when it comes to perfumes , besides the fact that I have been thinking the same but I thought it is just me that perfumes are non lasting for the amount of money that they cost. I have a Versace and that is the only one that I believe lasts ...I can still catch a hint of it in my clothe the following day .thank you again 💐

I love this! I am an artist & have 2 of the Love Bird bottles... because I am going to paint them both to have the markings of BOTH my birds! Just readying to begin sometime July! I will let the transparent glass show thru. My bottles are the green. If the red on is a live bird I will seek it out. But think it's likely a cardinal. Now tmfor Dr Lori : ...... ; )

Please if you find a place to sell those for more than $2 enlightened the rest of us. This is the first time I have ever disagreed with Dr. Lori. But I think all the resellers who have experience selling these know more in this case. Oh well. She can't know everything.

Dr. Lori I'm glad I finally stumbled upon this video of yours I watch him all the time I went through your whole list I never seen this one until today and you're right I want the smell not necessarily the bottle but yes I want the bottle as well that makes any sense at all I remember my father having a bunch of these when I was a little girl he doesn't have them anymore but I have got so many Avon bottles that I purchased at the Goodwill estate sales most of them I get them for a dollar 99 I got a whole tote full of them I guess I should say three totes full of Avon bottles and they are still full of cologne for a dollar each most of them are cars and trains I just bought a bunch of guns from the Goodwill and they are all full of the cologne still and in boxes

On eBay you'd be lucky to get $3 for the parakeet - I guess if you include the shipping a person pays for, maybe $8 total.

I've never seen the birds, maybe as a kid. I've seen them at savers for a few dollars. I remember when they were so popular. I've bought a few that I like, the perfume is always awful.

Perfume bottles equals memories of my mom and childhood I do collect some Avon bottles Here's My Heart and sweet honesty.on a dumpster diving vid I saw a couple come across over one hundred full avon bottles that someone put in a dumpster wow and they were full what a haul.

@@suejohnson3972 In the 1970s my younger wore that all the time and I loved Here's My Heart years later we stopped talking and lost touch,after our mom passed I missed my little sister I felt alone and didn't know where she was or even if she was still alive so I purchased a vintage bottle of sweet honesty to feel as if she were still around,I looked for her and often thought I will most likely never see my sister again in my life after looking and learning a bit about the computer and almost 40 years gone by I found her again and now we are friends and sisters.She dedicated the Carly Simon song Two Little Sisters to me Meryl Streep even sing on that song.you can find this song on KZfaq pick the video with the two little sisters playing on the Beach it will touch your heart.stay well God Bless.

I still buy Polo green in its 1st formula that smells 95 ٪% of how it used to smell and is still legendary in strength. I have about 20 bottles empty and about 5 I still use daily. And it was made in 1978 to 84. I wonder if the empty bottle have a use besides looking good on the shelf.

I’m glad u did bottles from Avon. I have a few of them. U answered my thoughts about them selling vials of the perfume. I got to thinking , why would u want that perfume in a vial when the smell is gone in that length of time u mentioned... it sticks LOL. I’m so glad u cleared that up when u explained it. I just love the knowledge u give to all of us. I want u to know I appreciate it so much U r the BEST of them all. ♥️😊👍

Dr. Lori I have a Avon glass sampler tube with the cork stopper and it still has the readable paper label on it. I have searched and searched but cannot find anything on it. I would like to know how much it is worth but just don’t know where else to look. Help me please. I have over a hundred perfume bottles mainly small ones that I am trying to get the value of because I am leaving them to my twin granddaughters

I have a small collection of the Avon vintage kids lipbalms / pomades. Is it important for collectors that there is still product in them? Or is it only about the containers and packaging? I have a handful of untouched ones but most of them have clearly been smudged by little sausage fingers 😊. We’re in the middle of a 3 week long heatwave. I’m thinking of emptying the smudged ones because I’m scared the old product is gonna melt and leak out…

I’m having a live auction Avon auction tonight for Avon bottles and jewellery and I’m not sure what to charge I’m thinking five dollars for the earrings $10 for the necklaces and $20 for the Avon bottles

Lol. Fragrances last waaaay longer than a couple years. Worst case if stored in high heat they will lose top notes but those are the note that only last a few minutes while wearing them. The middle and bass notes are the one that stick around for hours. And it happens mostly with heavy citrus fragrances. Is stored properly even the ones with heavy citrus will last a long time. The ones without every citrus notes could last way more than 10 years.

My mother and I met Dr. Lori at an event in Elkins Park, PA in 2009. She chose a doll I brought to discuss and told the room that the doll was worth about $6000. I subsequently was told by numerous local Montgomery County antique and toy dealers that the doll was only worth several hundred. And several of them told me that Dr. Lori is not as broadly knowledgeable as she advertising herself as being, and that she often over values items at events to make the event crowd more entertained.

Do you do appraisals as they come in? I have a very old large dragon plate my dad got in the Phillipines right after the war. It has a marking on the back I can't make out but I do have a picture. I think there is gold in the inlay. Do you appraise things like this or can you advise where to get an appraisal? Thank you very much.

Do you know they still sell that same perfume today? I worked in the fragrance department for 7 years at a Bergners. (Boston, Yonkers, Saks 5th Avenue etc.

I drove taxi for a short period of time and the thing I remember most is the old ladies perfumes. The perfume's appeal was right up there with a fart only not quite as offensive. Don't know why anyone would deliberately wear old perfume.

Where can I sell these prices? Because of those prices I have about $50,000 dollars worth I am at least 2000 bottles that were left in our new house because they wouldn't sell for a dollar a box lot.

Heck. I’ve been spending 60 bucks a pop for a discontinued Avon perfume called clean cotton. I like to smell the same for the last 20+ years more or less 😆 I’m constantly trying to find them constantly cheaper when I can but I’ve paid the 60 bucks at times
