At this point Trini was 28 years of age. He has just finished a very successful engagement performance for several days at the now- defunct "Basin St East" here in New York City. His show was being attended, amid the audience, by The likes of Eddie Gorme & Steve Lawrence, Sammy Davis, Jr., Ruth & Milton Berle, Jack Cassidy, Eva Gabor, Liz Ashley. A 'live album' ("Trini López live At Basin St. East") was recorded of this show. Unfortunately, Mr. Trini López past away at age 83 due to Covid19 on August 11,2020. Rest in peace.

When I was in talk radio in the 80's I was lucky enough to interview Steve Lawrence when he came to Norfolk, Virginia. He was a great interview and a real sweet man.

Garbage is not a product of the garbage collector. The garbage collector provides a service. John Daly often gets the service/product question wrong. The worst case I remember was that where he said the guy from the Federal Reserve Bank who oversaw the burning of old bank-notes, had a "product". Crazy !!

Back in the day when game shows required intelligence. When men and women dressed appropriately. Where humor was real. When respect was evident. Miss those days.

I knew Trini rather well at one time having met and interviewed him in the 70’s. As it turned out at one point I also coincidentally lived in the building next to his. His brother Jesse was also extremely talented. He had had a couple of albums out, but by that time, Trini had unfortunately earned himself a bit of a “difficult” reputation along with his stardom and Jesse couldn’t get past that with the record producers and name-makers. There was a tell-all interview that the late Tom Snyder had with Trini’s famous former manager back in the middle 70’s on that reputation.

Bennett said "how could anybody refuse her," and did you see the look on the contestant's face at that pun? That look could have just about drawn blood!

Steve Lawrence had that Kennedy casualness of the 60's along with Andy Williams. I think of mohair cardigans and Lacoste shirts when I see him.

I always felt that they should have a wide chair to accommodate 2 people at least, even though there usually is just one guest that visits the show. The wide chair should be there all the time. I guess my Idea is a bit too late for that to happen now, huh ?.
