What's New in the Secret Garden 10th Anniversary Edition?

10 years after buying the 1st edition in 2013, I bought the 10th Anniversary edition of Johanna Basford's Secret Garden. I was excited to see what changes they had made for this limited edition and the new illustrations.
In this video I flip through page-by-page s to show the changes between the new edition and the old edition...

I understand why they would change the font to a cleaner one but the old one was more whimsical. I'm glad these artists figured out that we generally don't like drawing our own stuff in the blank areas.

Yes I had heard someone else say the only difference was a pull out page 😵‍💫 I think the darker version with the typerwriter font looks better 😉xx I decluttered all of her books except the world of flowers I think!!

I still have mine, it's nice and white because I keep my coloring books out of sunlight. I strickly use colored pencils with it. My bday is coming up. I'm gonna have to ask for a new one just because I have been loving this coloring book the most, and I loved reading the Secret Garden book when I was young.

My books are kept out of sunlight too. The 2013 original UK edition was printed on paper similar to newspaper! It was never white. As soon as Johanna switched to the better paper, they no longer turned old and yellow looking.

@@ArtJourneyUK Mine isn't that type of paper but it was one printed in 2013. I love this one. I've got 8 coloring books as of now. Each one good for whichever mood I'm in. On the pages that create a hedge maze that says "Carry the key to the secret door", it'd be cute to draw in footsteps through the maze.

That's a bit cheeky, glad I didn't bother buying the 10th Anniversary edition. I did see another creator do a flip when the new book came out but they didn't mention the font changing, they just showed the fold out page. The old font looks like a wonky typewriter to me. I wish JB would bring out World of Flowers 2 or even better... World of Mushrooms xx

Maybe they have changed the font because they had to pay royalties for the original one (nice fonts can be expensive)

I, too, had an "original" edition (USA, 2018?) and though pages were off-white, they never yellowed. I always store in closed cabinets, so they are not exposed to sunlight or overhead lighting

My 2021 version has off white pages and has never yellowed either... however my 2013 and 2015 editions (with the awful fibrous paper) have yellowed like old newspaper (also stored in cabinets!)
