I've never had much experience the MMI system, but I've had plenty of time with the iDrive and the Command systems, and they both sucked. I don't know why people imitate them or why they say they're so great. Take the iDrive, which regarded as the best by many people. Just finding a way to scroll through radio stations or shutting off guidance is a task that requires multiple, unintuitive steps. IMO, the Uconnect system is far superior.

Spamfried the idrive in the 7 series and the x3 in the 2017 model year is actually one of the best IMHO. With the one in the 7 series it uses hand gestures and using it while driving for volume and etc makes it really easy. The older idrive isn't as good but not bad.

JR007 umm, how do you expect them to make you buy a new vehicle every 2- 3 years if they offer an update? lol this is exactly what people have been saying would happen since the implementation of nav and electronic features in cars. going to have to buy a new car of you want the new software, just like iOS updates and iPhones. designed obsolescence. my opinion, go aftermarket if you care about an update. personally I'd rather no nav at all and leave all that to my cell phone which does the job much better anways, saves thousands in msrp, won't bug out and be unreliable and screw up the whole car's electronic systems when/if you try to update or it simply fails and something goes wonky. Android has some really good head units that are very reasonably priced. just need an expert to install it so that it does not mess up your car's current electronic systems. good luck. I hate this type of crap. buy a new 40+k vehicle and it is outdated in months...f them. at least with a phone it is only ~$500 a pop. this should mot be tolerated on vehicles that should have a working shelf life of 15- 20 years!

JR007 Better than wranglers they love to keep them at least 5 years behind the rest of the company. Only think that’s gets updated is the cost.

No shit. Why did they not ask that question? I'd like to know just how much FCA is able to update the system in my '16 Power Wagon. Hell, the thing is in constant communication with the mothership now anyway... When you're in it with the engine off, you can hear it ping out via Sprint, every few seconds.

Do you mean the car itself has no remote start or the app. My daughter has a 2017 Compass with remote start but she had to download the Sirius xm guardian app not the uconnect app and her smart phone has same control as her key fob.
