I disagree with your goggle pricing on HDZero. You can get a Skyzone Cobra L box goggle for $170 so the total price for a new user is $430 with the VRX. And there's all the other goggle options to choose from. Plus you have an analog goggle, so you can fly both systems. Most people will most likely fly more than one system, especially people flying bind and fly. Walksnail just announced their own VRX, so buying analog goggles or HDZero goggles will give you up to 3 options. It's unrealistic to think new users are going to lay out over a thousand dollars for their first quad. They're going to get an RTF kit like the Tinyhawk kit for a couple hundred and build up from there.

Am I missing something? Aren't those goggles limited to a 480X272 display? Why would anyone buy into an expensive HD system, but hamstring it with a 480X272 display?

The goggles have + - buttons . But the vtx only shows a camera stuck to it for no osd . It says 1080x720. On a 3 inch screen , and at 45° field of view out from our eyes .

First goggles I bought were the DJI goggles V2. I have tried analog and you can't argue it looks like shit. And I don't think it will ever look good, there is nothing to innovate with analog. But I already have ordered the goggles X, because I just don't like DJI as a company, but you can't argue that their system is the best for image quality with OK latency. I was running 4K120Hz and thats around 28ms on DJI. They also have Analog Input, which has latency but at least it had one, if it didn't I would have literally avoided this hobby. I don't want to be locked into a system, and if I'm locked at least give me root. But no I have to take back what should be mine against the will of the manufacturer. I just hate DJI from deep inside, it felt like a deal with the devil having this good system. It's such a waste of human energy to having to hack your goggles for basic features, this is why I actually wanted to buy the HDZERO goggles first, as they are Open Source which matches perfect with what I want. Only problem, they are shit expensive after Tax and then they have higher HDMI input latency compared to goggles X. I see this as if they're trying to keep you convinced that HDZERO is the only system with low latency, their own VRX has higher latency through HDMI than it on the goggles X, if I remember correctly it was around 10ms slower, which is pretty bad if I want to use WS which already has around 30-40ms (the goggles are lying with 22ms) If I get the goggles X i can finally sleep at night.

One of the main benefits of HDZero besides low latency is it's low weight, smaller size and lower power consumption over other systems. It is the only real system to go to at this time for 1s Whoops. This is a huge area of the hobby and the racers seem to prefer the low latency of the HDZero system. The quality of picture is not DJI of course but try putting a DJI system in a whoop. As HDZero has gone open source it is going to continue to improve quickly. I think this is important to mention especially since we are entering Whoop season in the Northern Hemisphere.

100% agree. Not everyone is flying 5" quad. I love flying indoor with whoops. And, you don't need goggles, you can just use the HDMI input of your TV. TinyWhoops allow to start FPV and learn for a very low price. That's how I started myself.

I've started FPV this year from Walksnail. Decided to choose it over DJI because DJI sounds like Apple in FPV world... locked ecosystem with rooting and jailbreaking to do something above and beyond. Fat Shark have different history and sounds a lot more DIY friendly, plus it is healthy competitor that will likely overpass DJI soon and make it all cheaper I believe.

Thanks for the video! Regarding the analog vs digital for long range I would like to mention that in case the signal breaks (flying behind a rock for few seconds) the digital fpv system may take up to 1 minute to recover due to the communication between the googles and the drone. Analog is way faster in terms of recovering the video signal.

I was on premium analog (Skyzone 04X with dual SteadyView receivers, VTXs 600mW to 1.5W, expensive cameras, AXII antennas everywhere) but with all the trees I fly around it was still snow, flickers and occasional rolling. I considered HDZero as it offered a VRX that I could use with my 04Xs which I love but it really is just pretty analog with the same annoyances in HD. I almost bought the FS/WS system as it seemed like the path forward being new but the odd origins, flakey results from videos left me concerned. Ultimately it was the combo of a lower price on the DJI V2's and the long track record of quality from the DJI system that compelled me to go with it. It just so happened that WTFOS officially released around the same time. Since then I have converted my Evoque, Roma, built a custom on AOS 5 frame and bought a couple of DJI Flywoos for sub-250. I could not be happier with DJI and WTFOS. The range, the clarity and I have yet to encounter a single issue in either installation or operation of the system in my fleet of five DJI quads.

Ratings from your average joe freestyle pilot (not a racer, not into lr, own all five systems):- Analogue > Walksnail > DJIO3 > HDZero > DJI V2 Reasoning: Analogue has widest user support, cheapest per-quad build cost, and one can go bonkers flying and break vtx/camera and simply get new one without breaking bank. Can live with breakup, but noise issue is an actual problem. Walksnail is DJI but without it's weird business model. If they keep up with their current development speed, they can take over DJI in no time. With standalone VRX out, set becomes the second cheapest after analogue. But the current state of the system is still questionable. At it's best, the image quality is slightly better than DJI V2, at it's worst it is a jungle of smeary blobs. Am confident this will get fixed though. DJI O3 hands down has the BEST image quality. Dream of flying through your Action camera comes true. But unintuitively I feel it harder flying with THAT image, maybe because of the high contrast and slight motion blur, etc. You would like to SEE cinematic footage, but can you actually FLY with it? Something to think about. Also, the camera doesn't fit all frames and each set is so expensive that you can build a WHOLE OTHER analogue quad with that money. Ok I REALLY wanna rank HDZero more than this here because it is WAYY more capable than what I can get out of it. Especially with the upcoming HDZero goggles which I am planning to get (will replace my current Skyo4X). Feels like the HDZero system is wasted on me. It's just not for me because I really don't care all that much about latency, the image quality is nowhere near O3 or even Avatar, and I don't like the way it breaks up my image. I mean, it's not THAT much better than analogue to justify the price difference AND penetration issues. But then again, I see why tons and tons of other would love this system. Props to the Carl and other devs at HDZero though, amazing work, would love to see where it goes. I really don't like DJI's business model and I admit that I have a grudge against DJI. It's like Apple of the FPV community. Sure, quality is great but as many people have said, zero community interaction and locked on system. Image ON AVERAGE is better than Avatar, but when avatar is at it's best, image is slightly inferior. Range and penetration is pretty solid. The goggles are a headache though. Overall, it is reliable, proven, stable, and just works.

I'm currently undecided regarding which I prefer. I flew analogue for a few years then dji V1 and v2 goggles for another few years. Currently running hdzero and analogue as my daily driver. Micros hdzero larger builds analogue. However I'm eagerly looking forward to the walksnail vrx to be released soon. One set of goggles all three systems analogue walksnail and hdzero. What we need to remember also is how these systems feel to fly.....which suit our flying styles. Hdzero is sooo incredibly smooth as I analogue but with less clarity. Dji is stunning but can occasionally frustrate me with its latency. No idea about walksnail yet but I'm more hopeful that they will continue to improve itvbeyond dji current system. As for dji v3.... too expensive. Atm

Preferred, or rather the one I use the most, is analog. My daily driver goggles are the Skyzone 04X, these are compatible with all the VTX’s I’ve used, and still own, for more than ten years. I also use the same goggles with my Connex Digital system, HDZero, my fleet of 3DR Solo’s, Yuneec Typhoon H, and even my PS4 and 5. I do have the DJI V2 Goggles but only because I got the DJI FPV quad, new, at less than trade price. Fatshark/Walksnail in one word, pointless. If/when my Skyzone goggles need replacing I’ll be going with the HDZero’s due to their versatility.

Really hope the HD zeros of the world step up their game to make it more visually appealing and more on par with analog for cost. I think that's when this hobby starts appealing to a far greater audience.

I think in review like this it worth to add at least some hint about technical differences to HD Zero, it is quite unique... because of how protocol works it is considered as something in between analog and digital. Instead of digital stream it transfers hundreds of smaller pieces of digital image one by one, so the image noise appears slightly closer to how it appears in analog, and that exactly why latency is a lot less and noise resistance is a lot more. But of course as a result price paid by quality. For those who are interested, take a look at histograms and at how HD Zero digital interference looks like in analog googles, it explains a lot.

My preferred FPV system is still Analog and it will be analog for as long as it is possible. My reasons are: I fly long range and the flexibility about antenna placement, the reliability of the OSD, the ability to get VTX on microwave power levels and the tiny receivers to put on an antenna tracker or GCS are just important factors. But I will move to digital with a few crafts next year and my system of choice is Walksnail. I was a big hater on them after the Marketing Desaster Launch but they have proven themselves that they listen to the community, work with the devs, support INAV and full feature OSDs and deliver a DJI Like video quality. To me the best overall package. Hacking the OS of a similar expensive digital system just to get the same features, is no buyer argument for me and HDZero just lacks the nice HD OSD that WS and DJI wtf.OS have and are too much focused on quads and racers, delivering no benefit for fixed wing pilots at all.

I'm analog only at this moment. I have skyzone cobra x goggles and I am satisfied with them. I am waiting for the hdzero goggles to come out. Analog video is supposed to look amazing in the hdzero goggles because of some different hardware that processes the analog signal. I'm not a racer but I think I would enjoy the lower latency of hdzero. I have seen pilots mention the latency of the dji system and how they adapted their flying style to the latency. I feel like this would bother me if I spent all that money and the system has noticable latency. I guess the picture quality must be that good to put up with some latency. But now there is a choice to have a better image quality with equal or better latency than analog. I hope the hdzero system is popular and stays around. @@EnglishTurbines Well it's no myth analog is less expensive to get into, and that was another factor in what gear I started with. Obviously the latency must not be that bad or not so many people would be using it and lower resolution modes have better latency. I've only been into fpv about a year and a half.

What is driving me mad is that there is a lot noise on digital fpv systems and I'm just curious about when the Orqa Digital System will came out and if will be really a game changer or it will need time to compete. This is what is holding me back from buying one of these now. I think I will wait till Q1 of 2023 to see what will happens.

Czołem Paweł. But what about people (for example like me) who own analog gogles (in my case EV300O) as well as analog drones? Do we have to start from the the very beginning? No HDZero is the answer. For suche people like me it can be the cheapest option - vrx + whoop lite bundle. (Currently on BG it is very cheap). So my first digital small Drone Crux3 on 2s is a rock star and I'm very impressed how much better this drone is after this change. I can fly it everywhere without any problems. So for me it isn't the most expensive move. Isn't it?

Most people will start off in the hobby with analog because of the price and durability. Do you really want to have to replace a 200+ camera and VTX every time you take a huge hit while you are learning all those cool tricks, flippy floppin, bashing the bandos or sbangin ? Hopefully you listened to reason and got a good radio and goggles like everyone recommends which will let you transition into HD with a relatively smaller hit to the wallet by getting either an HD0 or now a walksnail addon module. Not to mention that you will only need the 1 pair of goggles while you slowly convert you fleet to HD. Just my $0.02

how did you forget to mention breakup on video? i would have expected more objective video from you, i can say i am disappointed. even if i removed open source idea (which is a very important reason and not to be forgotten; whole community exists and sits on open source and collaboration, not on effin corporate shills) but breakup and artifacts that come along with digital are also reason why i don't fly any of the digital systems. interexchangeability is a huge factor and a plus for analog, but are you solely going to recommend systems that stutter on yaw? any digital will have crappy panning motion on camera; it bothers me a lot when things are jumpy on the screen (i.e. white pole on a green background - it will not move over your screen but it will jump frames when you're jawing while looking at it). i'd rather have stable picture than nice picture; and analog is far from unusable image. also, one can recover from analog breakup on video, good luck from recovering digital. how about flying with other pilots, did you talk about that? how often someone one analog blasts others away, compared to how often DJI shills come over and blast someone down? analog all the way, i'll rather stop completely than switch over to any of the digitals, until open source comes up (which it won't in years cuz chips and processing power etc, discussion not for yt comments). whatever, pawel, as i said, i expected more from you.

Interesting how these comparisons never talks about what type of flying you do or how important the goggle ergonomics are. Racing where fixed and low latency seems to be important. Analog or hdzero Situations where variable latency works? Well all three hd systems are a gamble on who will be there in the future especially since these are closed systems. No guarantees on how long the vendor will be there for you, including DJI who is well known for discontinuing their products. Me I went with Walksnail. Durable vtxs? I have been flying two for two months now and not an issue. If you know how to properly mount hardware, provide strain relief on wiring and antenna my sense is you'll be fine.
