What is the Best line for Saltwater Fishing? Seems to be a real argument about this for alot of saltwater anglers.
Am I using the best line? Is he using the best line?
Actually, the best line for saltwater fishing is up to you! Its the line you feel most comfortable with, its probably the line youve used for Saltwater fishing since you were a kid.
HOWEVER, there is one that stands out for Saltwater.

The perfect video for a debate or at least a decision I have been trying to make recently. I mostly use braid but noticed many respected beach anglers using mono but why.. this is way and brilliantly explained and shown 👍

When i use braid on my fixed spool i just pick the rod up take up the slack and soon as i get a positive rattle just reel into it rather then striking. Its always worked well for me.

I'm glad uve covered this as I've just switched from mono to braid & been having similar issues where not holding bottom in flow although I fish Humber n 7-8oz which is mad however I do think braid is to blame as mono seem to hold bottom alot better n my catch rate has slowed but plenty of bites, hmmm got me thinking now bro, suppose I should give it some time, tah tho n big up bro, each n everytime, bangers in abundance

I never use a spinning reel when using braid. The braid will cause the bail to fail when playing a big one. Also the spinning rod eyelets will wear out your braid while playing a large fish. Eventually the braid will snap at the most unprecedented time

Been talking to people online about this topic. With braid one thing that requires attention is rig design - if using flappers, increase the length of the snoods. Suggest using 30-36inch snoods. This significantly increases the hooking ratio to close to 100%. As this allows time for ingestion of the bait (into the mouth) and the fish can turn easily almost ensuring a hook up. Hope this helps.

I usually use 70 lb braid straight through to the rig. I also use circle hooks, I find that works for me but this was an interesting wee experiment. Tight lines 🎏

I tried that one as well, guess it just wasn't for me, but then again I'm a match angler so makes a big difference..

Mono for me too. Constantly told to change to braid but mono works for me so why change what isn't broke.

I would have a lighter weight on the braid rod as the drag would be less because of the lower braid diameter.Thanks good video.

Mono every time for me... Even from the club boat. Only time I might use braid is lure casting.

Defo braid for lure fishing/mono for bottom fishing.

Interesting comparison, im still sticking with braid, but im also going to rig up a muliplier rod which will be mono, so will be interested to see how that goes , might do my own vs vid with that added dimension. As always good video, not enough #$%BAMS$%# though , lol

I’m still persevering with braid and I’m slowly finding it’s paying off.. like you though the frustration is holding bottom for me especially with a bit of swell..

Braid for lure fishing mono with a flurocarbon leader for beach best of both worlds they are both great an have their pros and cons

Hi Buddy - You really should have fished the both rods with the same terminal tackle IMO, i would imagine the result is flawed. Braid 100% give the best bit detections. ;P But thanks for the video - informative.

I agree, braid gives a far better bite detection but also seems to drop more fish 🤔

Started using braid in the summer (cheap generic 40lb) with a casting trigger.got the same distance as mono.ive now put a leader on it bit have not been able to test due to covid

It all depends on how you fish. Braid is good for Bite detection and trolling while mono is good for everything else. Have a nice Day.

Braid for lure fishing, because of the added casting distance and sensitivity. For boat it's 100% braid every time, otherwise you're gonna be badly affected by tide and line stretch, which will piss off all the other anglers on the boat. For shore, either one is fine, haven't really noticed a difference fishing between the two.
