Yeah I know they are gappier at the back than is typically depicted, but I feel like the Bumblebees' is a bit too insubstantial. Though that could be from how flexible the plastic is, and how readily everything back there want's to untab.

To be fair to my own review, I don't have the back half of that fire truck anymore. One of the reasons I don't like partsforming. Stuff goes missing. So I can't have a figure that looks very little like prime, that only is half complete, and falling apart win the who's the best prime contest.

@@PerspectiveEnd Lol, completely fair! It certainly doesn't look like prime and without the addon armor/base, it's.. kinda not great? I could never see it winning any "best optimus prime", part because nostalgia is a helluva drug and part because it's very different from most. It's a very valid opinion to bear! And of course, even "best optimus prime" can be a hella debatable thing off of personal values. I don't like the magic square optimus (and MP10) because I dislike blatant vehicle mode kibble (such as the crotch that isn't attempted to be hidden), but it's still a very good piece all things considered. And your video makes it very clear what your based values are and your list reflects that perfectly, which is 1000% respectable. Regardless of whether or not I may agree with the list... it's a good list and a very good video. :)

@@lavienne680 I was trying to be as objective as I possibly could. I never even took into account that someone may not like the crotch being so visible in the vehicle mode. Didn't even cross my mind. And when I say The Best, I mean like Classic version. I think that's the only way to have a what's the best that most people will agree is valid. Cause a best of the "Most Important" version is going to be up for debate. Is it the First for starting it all, is it the movie version for getting the franchise most of its recent new fans? Like there's a debate to be had there. Not so much with whats the best classic version.

I just don’t get the cliched hate for partsforming. Just so strange to hate it altogether when it can be done well. Like most Optimus prime transformations that make use of the trailer, that’s still partsforming and it’s worked out fine. Armada Prime, POTP Prime, POTP Optimal Optimus, any transformer with integrated weapons is also a partsformer and there are tons that have made it work. Just as many as have failed miserably at it.

That's what some people have to do, and I'm glad you get the option to. I prefer to go fast as to waste as little of everyone's time as possible, so they can watch more videos in a day, and have more life in their life.

I will one day I'm sure, and absolutely. Bumblebee was such a breath of Fresh air in the Designs. It's what I always wanted to see since I was Child.

Well I took issue with the Cybertron one just because it's antiquated by today's standard, plus one of the Unsung criteria of What's the Best, is accuracy to the classic interpretation of the character, because "Best Version" or "Most Important Version" are things people will debate, but classic version is kind of set in stone. As for the RID one it fails on that one harder than any other, but I'm also reviewing my version of it, and my version is a half complete sun bleached rusted mess, so it has to take last place on those faults alone.

Cybertron Optimus is really a great figure and IMO is better then even Siege and POTP (mostly because Cybertron Optimus looks good in all modes except the Flight mode which is more okay.) Also I have even a hard time quantifying much about your RID Optimus partly because your missing most of the figure =P It’s certainly fun and nice when you have Magnus… I miss when Characters could look more interesting and unique…

I say the Studio Series but it is a bit less G1 accurate if that matters to you.

Personally I'd probably rate it higher too were the 44 on this list. That Transformation is nightmarish, and it doesn't end up with a win in the looks department.

That would get high marks in the accuracy of he altmode, but no marks in Robot Mode Accuracy, it could get something in the Design but I'm not familiar enough with the version of Optimus that Appeared in the first half of that movie to make a call on that. I'd say it's fine for you to prefer that version, but as someone who doesn't have it, looking at it only from a distance I think it wouldn't do great in the rankings.

Yeah, I was just kind of on mental Autopilot at that point because I got so used to talking about it, so when I thought about how the whole grill folded away, I just said it Fauxformed without thinking.

So if you see it and it's like 40 bucks that's probably not a crazy deal, it's probably the legends version. So unless you want that be careful.

Don't get me wrong, I wish it didn't. It was a bit of a problem to me the first time I went to do it, but that Transformation is just so Fun I forget it's fauxforming. Like the whole transformation is CRAZY fun, and the Fauxforming is one of the fun steps, because every step is fun. What can I say but there is an exception to every rule.

Had it for a minute. Gave it to a friend. The Tampos were all slightly off where they were supposed to be, if they weren't it would have looked good, but it wouldn't fit in with my existing Siege collection, so if I was going to keep one I kept the one that fit.

That is the Magic Square Light of Freedom. There's a Legends scale version called the light of Justice as well but that's way smaller and not of the same level of quality.

I'm glad you have a figure you love, but I'm trying to go with something less subjective here. The original vision for this show was to have a points system, but I found it just ate up time and was making the video longer, unwieldlyer, and less clickable so I removed it. Essentially I wanted to decide what's the best based on factors like Accuracy of Character Representation, Posability, Cost. That's why I was beating my self up in the video over Including Siege Prime so high, because I subjectively liked it to the point where I couldn't be objective about it.

I don't know so much about the sleeves, but I agree with the backpack.

To be perfectly honest I was just on auto pilot at that point since so many of them did it, and all that was in my head is that the whole real grill was folding up inside of the torso, and I didn't think about how a fake one was not coming out, so I blamed it for something it wasn't doing, and that's my bad.

I will say that I think the Magnus Color Scheme is super tasty. Purple Green and blue just don't have that PUNCH.

That would make sense if people really care, but the Magic Square is killing it in all departments, and it doesn't have a Fake Grill. I just think it's not an issue like people making the toys think it's an issue.

This is the only difference in shape is in robot mode Optimus' grill is not even with his truck tits. But that's an issue solved with a single hinge, and a gap behind it for the grill to go. Even then, due to it having absolutely no visual impact, even just leaving it how it is in vehicle mode is perfectly fine.

So neither do the accessories fit, but I already have them, and it's the laziest cheapest thing to to just repackage old accessories that literally don't fit the character.

I will argue that the Siege is the best of the ones listed and I always Recommend it. Even if you find the altmode a little off.

I hope you are loving that Prime as much as I do, and I do think that Starscream is a fun one, but his chest is a little prone to popping off, I drilled it out and pined it, but I don't know if you've even got a drill, let alone that you know how to use one on plastic and do it safely. Anyways, that's for the Sub and the kind words., I hope I can continue to entertain you in the future.

You know what that's valid, I was just kind of on auto pilot at that point, because it's the same skeleton as the MP10, so I just didn't even think about it, and criticized it for the same problem the other had even thought this one technically couldn't have that issue because it didn't have a gut grill in the first place. That was my bad.

Frankly it's a design that has almost no actual truck parts on it, so almost the entire robot mode is fake anyways.

The whole torso on RID1 was not made of vehicle parts, it was purely meant to look like Optimu's chest just like the really strange choice made for Powermaster Optimus Prime to have a fake truck grill on the back of the actual truck cab.

I'd say go for the Siege Prime AND the KO Studio Series BB. They are less combined than either of the other two, and also the best ones at the same time. Though the PotP is it's own unique kind of Awesome.

@@sushizooshie The good news is if you don't want to go that route, the Magic Square is actually an Upgrade and upscale of their Legends Prime. So if you want one of a much smaller size the same company produces a version of it in legends, at a much lower price, though the Altmode isn't quite as cohesive.

I have the legends version of their new prime, I don't know that I'm ready to say that the new version is better yet, as the Legends Version is VERY fiddly, but at a larger scale that may not be an issue, so I will have to wait to get it in my hands first to make the call.

Well the first two that come to mind are the Blue Bois, Skywarp and Dirge. More Skywarp. Dirge is supposed to be very fatalistic, "Like what is the point of this war all we are doing is killing our selves?". But Skywarp is just supposed to be questioning his loyalty. Outside that you've got Deadlock who does witch sides and becomes Drift. And also from IDW Cyclonus is friendly to the Autobots.

I do have both, and I made a review on the TE, where I did update my Rankings, but Spoiler Alert the MS still came out on top. I'll tell you why. The MS has a WAY more fun Transformation, and MASSIVELY better posing. Every Joint that they share, the MS has more range on, and the MS has a BUNCH of joints that the TE doesn't have. If I were to give the edge in appearance, it'd go to the TE but just barely. I'd say the TE is more show accurate, while the MS is more 86 movie accurate, cause Optimus was a little Chunkier in that. Hope that helps.

@@PerspectiveEnd posing is kinda big deal for me as I'm planning to photograph it, that might seals the deal, but I love the the TE sleeker look more. Hard decision, I might just go for both lol. One more thing, there is no better chug earth optimus beside earthrise right? Not a fan of cybertronian stuff myself, planning on collecting plenty on that scale too and heres looking for the definitive chug g1 prime.

I did go with both my self, the MS is harder to find right now because it's been out of print for longer, thought they did just release a crystal version of it. And while I don't care for it, if you are discounting the Siege Prime for being Cybertronian, then I'd have to agree there is no better Chug Scaled prime out there.

You are correct in your assumption that I'm not big on that design aesthetic. I will say that those may be good figures, I can't attest either way, the would still do poorly here, because what's the best Grades on Accuracy to the Classic Interpretation of a character. Yeah Siege prime was fantastic. If you watch my original review of the Earthrise line, and slow it down, you can see that during the Transformation of ER Prime, I accidentally knock off his butt pannel. Anyways I think everyone knows my stances on Partsforming. Yeah the Weijian is astonishingly good for the price.

I was more criticizing the serries. If I had to nail down my problems with the figure. It's REALLY not an Optimus Prime. It's a red body with a blue head, and blue pecks, with a face plate... That's it. That's all the similarities to Optimus. Outside that, the proportions are goofy. He's got the Fattest shins on earth and small arms. The head is strange, and he only turns into half an Altmode, the other half I lost decades ago, as is obvious in the video. So put partsforming against him. He's got Issues.

@@PerspectiveEnd That's completely fair. Personally, I like the figure's concept a lot. Optimus turning into a firetruck makes sense to me, so I am able to more easily look past the flaws.

My problem with MP44 is it's over priced and under delivers. A more accurate look can be achieved, with greater poseability, and no parts forming. I'm not about to spend 500 bucks when there is a better option at 1/5th the price.

But the chest windows being fake while the truck windows are the same part is the absolute dumbest thing Takara has ever done... for the minute and a half it takes to realize that for the first time in action figure history a figure has been designed purposefully so that you are now capable of BENDING THE KNEES INCORRECTLY! Yeah, knees designed so you have to bend them in steps is so absurdly dumb, and the fact that Takara stans use it as an excuse to blame the people with broken MP 44s is even dumber.

The time it would take to enjoy MP 44 is about the amount of time it would take someone working minimum wage in Africa 3,000 years ago to afford it, and by then with that amount of money you could buy 2 copies EACH of both the 3P Prime figures that came out around the same time.

@@PerspectiveEnd This is a bit flawed though, because theres many versions of Prime. Maybe it should be "What is the best interpretation of it's own design", and then they would be ranked based on how accurate they are to their continuity. As such, BM DOTM Prime would be pretty high on the list.

I have it, but unfortunately the shoulder came broken. I am still able to transform it cause I taped it, but it really made me upset. Fortunately, I'm getting MB-11 Leader Prime. It costed me $138 and it's shipping from Japan, but I'm hoping it comes in near if not brand new condition.

I want to get a few more different Starscreams and before I try that.

@@PerspectiveEnd I think using the same head is fine, but not painting around the eyes silver and leaving them blue was a big mistake.

I am aware the that buttflap can come off, but that's just trading kibble for partsforming and that's a downgrade. I'm glad no everyone has my problem with the Matrix, but I know that most do, and I can't judge a working version of the figure I don't have. And while yes I never like Fauxforming, at the very least the Siege Version is doing it to make the Grill change material, as a unique stylistic decision. The ER figure is just doing it because of a weird obsession with its shape.

I'm saving that one for a special occasion.

I still can't decide that one which is why I don't own any of them. I won't spend the money one one until I see one I believe is flawless. Grimlock was the second transformer I ever owned and the first one that wasn't a cheap minibot. I love Grimlock but I won't spend money to buy one and then sell it down the road because a better one comes around that finally meets all of my expectations.

@@TheShadowKarl If you are looking for the BEST Grimlock, I suggest the Gigapower Superator. He has a Smattering of minor flaws, but it's Soooo good in spite of those.

@@PerspectiveEnd that issue with his arm/leg flap breaking if the joint isn't in just the right direction scares me. I have three younger boys and my oldest loves to transform my stuff and sometimes he does it even though he hasn't asked first... I really don't want a break like that on a figure I paid so much for. I agree it does look the best and seems to be very good quality. Still there is something about it that doesn't quite get me to pull the trigger on it besides the issue with that arm flap breaking. For now I am still willing to let it go. Luckily Grimlock is such a loved character we are bound to see many more versions of him made in the future by other companies and probably by Takara again too. I am patient and I also don't let myself get bummed out if I miss a great figure anymore. I just remember to be happy with the few I decided to get. Right now I have 7 total MP Transformers. I have already set a hard limit on the number I will allow myself to buy. So missing out on one just opens up an opportunity for a different character that I find in the future and like better.

I don't dislike it', it's just not very good.

I've heard that a few people have had that experience. The problem is that mines just tight enough to not fall out on it's own, and that it's held on in such a way, that if you try to flex under one side to get it out, the other leavers down and gets completely stuck.

Well Minimus Ambus would be inside this level of armor. He's not small enough or Green enough to be Minimus Ambus. I'd still say at this level of the armor he'd be Optimus Magnus. And in most continuities Minimus Ambus is not the guy in the suit. Quick aside do you think they based Minimus Ambus's design on Tigatron?

Unfortunately I got back into Collecting after Classics. And one of the reasons I was kicking my self so much for Siege Optimus being so high, was because this isn't supposed to be a serries about favorites. What I do here is try to find the Objective best, so what looks the most correct, poses the best, and transforms the best is what I try to have win.

Classics Optimus is my favorite G1 style Optimus still… I love the modernized G1 designs Classics gave us

And why's that? They tend to have more effort put in than the Masterpiece scene, but at the same time are also cheaper, despite worse economies of scale, so what the put out is honestly more impressive, and is taking the audience for granted less. Typically at least, FansToys exists to prove that concept wrong.
