Man oh man you spoke my thoughts!!!!!!!! I totally agree with you. Beefheart in a community tank with high temperature is a timebomb waiting to go off! It would be a great experiment to get 8 same size Discus and have 4 in each tank ...one tank at lower temp and one at the 32 celsius and see their life span!

I've kept discus for 30 years in 84 ish temp, and came across a video recently by santerem discus plus that completely changed my thinking on temperature and food, he collects discus from the wild and keeps his temperatures around 76d because he's personally tested water temperature in the habitat the discus live, he also feeds tropical flake, not beef heart which I have been doing so dropped the temp in my tank to 76, and going to transition to flake and pellets, I found your video because I wondered if anyone else kept discus in lower temperatures, sounds to me like you have a valid point in your defense. 😊

Reason for the high temperatures and beef heart feeding of Discus goes back to Germany in the 1960s, it was cheaper to feed beef heart as it was the left overs of the cow no one ate so they would feed it ti discus and for fish to be able to digest something like beef heart temps need to be considerably higher, imo beef heart isn't natural for them even mysis shrimp and brine shrimp but at least those are closer to small crustaceans they could eat in their natural habitat

My personal opinion is that if you feed 2 to 3 times a day and you feed high protein foods. You should keep them at 84 degrees. So I think it depends on feeding.

Keep mine at 86F they love it. Never had an issue with disease. I feed frozen bloodworms mostly, but also Xtreme krill and spirulina flake.

I keep mine at 81 degrees and everyone is fine. My plants, my Angels, my 2 guramies, my Pleco, and my colorful ones.

i agree with jordan pehrson, i keep my discus at a constant 84 degrees, i keep my gh at 75ppms for my breeding pair which i keep in a dirted tank capped with sand and live plants, the tank size is a 90 gallon tank. my kh-1 my ph-6.4. i use ro/di water and put minerals back in. my discus fry i keep the gh higher at 150ppms with more calcium in their water. joe h navy seabee

I think temperature should not be constant all the time it should fluctuate between as per day and night 25 - 30 c . This the best i have experienced with my discus.

My friend all discus today we have not live in Amazon!! It's for many years lives and breeding in farms and hatchery.. Completely different than Amazon conditioner

Hello Like and agree about what you says. I use to have discus fish for 3 years and they were always in 30 degree C and feed beef heart . Yes they are doing ok but always sick and some of them get parasites and I became a doctor like . I stopped discus Turn to planted aquarium anubias plus echinodorus I agree with you that beef heart is not the ideal food because my fishes always were sick 30 c keep them very active which effect there overall life span. Now I am planning to bring around 4 stendker discus 8 CM on my planted 125 L aquarium but from my previous experience discus doesn't like intense lights and plant do like that . The heat I will keep them on 28 C and i will avoid maybe once a week only beefheart and i will stick to granulle. Is there any tips you can give me about the lighting issue ?? Does internal filter with 2 kilo biological media be enough to handle the 125 L aquarium or is better to install external filter note I have 3 siames, 2 molly plus 10 cardinal tétra. I am using juwel rio aquarium led lighting . I have lot of plants as i mentioned and small drift wood . Can you correct me if i have any mistake in the above setup please . Thanks good luck .

Water under 5 feet usually will be kept constant. I remember there is a report saying the temp of 5 feet of amazon river is around 77 to 78. Keeping Discus in mid or high 80 definitely a disaster for them
