Wands don’t effect gameplay, it’s cosmetic. In lore, all components of the wand make a difference to the wand, mainly wood and core, with length reflecting personality types and flexibility equally representing other aspects of the wand user. Wood and core are important, if you are a nerd like me, you can Google what the differences are and there is a list of all wood type available in the game with their descriptions and relevance written down. It’s all roleplay based.

Except, no. Your wand literally does nothing regardless of core. There's a lore reason behind each part, but in-game nothing you choose will effect the performance.

Guys, ALL wands work EXACTLY the same so don't worry.

Length, flexibility and wood types in lore do affect the power of magic, most powerful combination in lore sense if anyone wishes to know is the longest length, Unyielding, Elder wood, for the most powerful (dragon heartstring) but for the rares and most unique (pheonix feather.)

My wand on the wizarding world came out like this: maple wood, phoenix core, 14(1/2) inches long, very flexible. According to that, I’d be an adventure loving wizard who’s magic could adapt to any situation.

From reading all the descriptions it was obvious that all the wand choices were just cosmetic. But the core part actually made it seem like an important choice. Like how one said "more consistent magic" which I assumed your spells cooled down a little faster or something. Then the obvious do a little more damage with the dragon one. I forget the third but now seeing my choice was pointless is kinda disappointing. Still an awesome game so far, can't wait to learn avada kedavra

Just for anyone considering getting the game and trying to get the best wand, IGNORE EVERYONE. The Length, The Core or The Durability doesn't change your wand in any beneficial way. Lore/Roleplay wise, all wands are different and have different advantages, but in the game, there is no difference and its purely aesthetic, so pick which wand you like the look of rather than trying to get the most powerful wand since they are all the same.

12.5 inch, slightly springy, classic dark Rowan wood with a phoenix feather core for me, and I love how it looks. I’m probably gonna see if I can get a real custom one made for me.

I'd have thought there would have been a more wider selection of cores like a Thestral or Kelpie core! Wandlore stated wizards used to take their own cores to wandmakers, although as far as I know only the Elder wand had a Thestral core but Kelpie cores were popular in older wizarding times so I'm surprised they didn't include them in legacy

The wand is pure cosmetic, nothing actually affects your gameplay experience, not even the core. Those descriptions are just that. It's not that unicorn hair makes the unforgivable curses harder to cast in game or something.

Cherry wand with dragon heartstring is said to be devastating and demands a user with self control and strength of mind because it’s so powerful. It’s also sacred in Japan - and my character has pink hair so ofc I had to give him the op Cherry/dragon pair

I played far in and then core actually does something cool. When you are *rescuing* magical beasts, if you have a dragon heartstring core, dragons are easy to get, vice versa for the others. Yes, im kidding.

I picked dragon for more power. Not sure what pheonix one means since you get the same magic anyway…and unicorn I presume is more magic so consistent magic usage but with a skill on the tree and a focus potion, you can throw the spells out quick af. So dragon for me

My wand is based on my heritage. I am transilvanian, straight Black wand. Unyielding, 14", black walnut (I play in german so maybe its called differently in english), the core is dragon heart string. Walnut is protected by law in Romania, straight black is referencing the pikes used by Vlad the Impaler, dragon heart string also references the Draculea family emblem. Draculea translated is "from the dragon" or " son of the dragon". Later during Vlads regime, Dracul means "Devil". Thats why I used black magic and curses.

I have no idea why I keep thinking this game is multiplayer. It just gives off multiplayer game vibes and it’s kinda weird to me, but on the other hand imagine if it was multiplayer. Imagine needing to challenge your friend because they’re a slytherian and they’re being like a whole arch nemesis system where you have to prove your better than your friend.

none of it matters which is a shame they had the opportunity to add different effects per core. Such as faster recharge but weaker spells for unicorn hair, stronger but slower recharge spells for dragon heartstring and a sort of steady balance between power and speed for phoenix. unfortunately this isn't the case they all do the same thing

It's been stated that the customization of the wands don't matter because it doesn't affect the game play. The corse are just there for the player to say that they got so and so core

I feel like the devs could have made the wand core actually matter. Like each one has their respective pros and cons that would change how you play the game. Things being purely cosmetic simply makes zero sense in regards to lore. Same with the brooms

The wand composition doesn't have any effect on game play whatsoever. It's all cosmetic. Only your character level, the offense/defense stats on gear and traits used on the gear effect amount of damage the character does.

Nothing effects gameplay, everything to do with the wand is simply aesthetic and to add to the lore

It’s not about the length, it’s about the girth… but too bad we can’t make a thick, girthy wand. But to be honestly, it doesn’t matter, a wand is a wand as long as it does it’s job. My wand is only 8 inches but It knows how to cast its spells.

Damn i used my wizarding profile. The funny thing is that my wandwood is supposed to often supplement the down effect of cores lore wise but i suspect they didnt implement that in game... I feel like my issue so far is actually less power and more timing at least in the training sessions . It feels like it isnt reading my trigger until the next one is set in...
